Psalms 34

1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.	1 'Di Davide, quando si finse pazzo in presenza di Abimelech e, da lui scacciato, se ne andò.'
2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.	2 Alef. Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, sulla mia bocca sempre la sua lode.
3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.	3 Bet. Io mi glorio nel Signore, ascoltino gli umili e si rallegrino.
4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.	4 Ghimel. Celebrate con me il Signore, esaltiamo insieme il suo nome.
5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.	5 Dalet. Ho cercato il Signore e mi ha risposto e da ogni timore mi ha liberato.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.	6 He. Guardate a lui e sarete raggianti, non saranno confusi i vostri volti.
7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.	7 Zain. Questo povero grida e il Signore lo ascolta, lo libera da tutte le sue angosce.
8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.	8 Het. L'angelo del Signore si accampa attorno a quelli che lo temono e li salva.
9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.	9 Tet. Gustate e vedete quanto è buono il Signore; beato l'uomo che in lui si rifugia.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.	10 Iod. Temete il Signore, suoi santi, nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.	11 Caf. I ricchi impoveriscono e hanno fame, ma chi cerca il Signore non manca di nulla.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?	12 Lamed. Venite, figli, ascoltatemi; v'insegnerò il timore del Signore.
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.	13 Mem. C'è qualcuno che desidera la vita e brama lunghi giorni per gustare il bene?
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.	14 Nun. Preserva la lingua dal male, le labbra da parole bugiarde.
15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.	15 Samech. Sta' lontano dal male e fa' il bene, cerca la pace e perseguila.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.	16 Ain. Gli occhi del Signore sui giusti, i suoi orecchi al loro grido di aiuto.
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.	17 Pe. Il volto del Signore contro i malfattori, per cancellarne dalla terra il ricordo.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.	18 Sade. Gridano e il Signore li ascolta, li salva da tutte le loro angosce.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.	19 Kof. Il Signore è vicino a chi ha il cuore ferito, egli salva gli spiriti affranti.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.	20 Res. Molte sono le sventure del giusto, ma lo libera da tutte il Signore.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.	21 Sin. Preserva tutte le sue ossa, neppure uno sarà spezzato.
22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.	22 Tau. La malizia uccide l'empio e chi odia il giusto sarà punito.
	23 Il Signore riscatta la vita dei suoi servi, chi in lui si rifugia non sarà condannato.
