KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
