KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.1 Bless the LORD, my soul! LORD, my God, you are great indeed! You are clothed with majesty and glory,
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:2 robed in light as with a cloak. You spread out the heavens like a tent;
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:3 you raised your palace upon the waters. You make the clouds your chariot; you travel on the wings of the wind.
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:4 You make the winds your messengers; flaming fire, your ministers.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.5 You fixed the earth on its foundation, never to be moved.
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.6 The ocean covered it like a garment; above the mountains stood the waters.
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.7 At your roar they took flight; at the sound of your thunder they fled.
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.8 They rushed up the mountains, down the valleys to the place you had fixed for them.
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.9 You set a limit they cannot pass; never again will they cover the earth.
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.10 You made springs flow into channels that wind among the mountains.
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.11 They give drink to every beast of the field; here wild asses quench their thirst.
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.12 Beside them the birds of heaven nest; among the branches they sing.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.13 You water the mountains from your palace; by your labor the earth abounds.
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;14 You raise grass for the cattle and plants for our beasts of burden. You bring bread from the earth,
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.15 and wine to gladden our hearts, Oil to make our faces gleam, food to build our strength.
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;16 The trees of the LORD drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon, which you planted.
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.17 There the birds build their nests; junipers are the home of the stork.
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.18 The high mountains are for wild goats; the rocky cliffs, a refuge for badgers.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.19 You made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun that knows the hour of its setting.
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.20 You bring darkness and night falls, then all the beasts of the forest roam abroad.
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.21 Young lions roar for prey; they seek their food from God.
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.22 When the sun rises, they steal away and rest in their dens.
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.23 People go forth to their work, to their labor till evening falls.
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.24 How varied are your works, LORD! In wisdom you have wrought them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.25 Look at the sea, great and wide! It teems with countless beings, living things both large and small.
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.26 Here ships ply their course; here Leviathan, your creature, plays.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.27 All of these look to you to give them food in due time.
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.28 When you give to them, they gather; when you open your hand, they are well filled.
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.29 When you hide your face, they are lost. When you take away their breath, they perish and return to the dust from which they came.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.30 When you send forth your breath, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD be glad in these works!
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.32 If God glares at the earth, it trembles; if God touches the mountains, they smoke!
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.34 May my theme be pleasing to God; I will rejoice in the LORD.
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, my soul! Hallelujah!
