1 Wenn ein Mann seine Frau entlässt und wenn sie von ihm weggeht und die Frau eines andern wird, wendet er sich dann ihr wieder zu? Würde das Land nicht völlig entweiht? Du aber hast mit vielen Freunden gebuhlt und da solltest du zu mir zurückkehren dürfen? - Spruch des Herrn.	1 “It is commonly said: ‘If a man has divorced his wife, and she departs from him, she will marry another man.’ So why would he return to her again? Is not that woman polluted and defiled? But you have fornicated yourself with many lovers. Even so, return to me, says the Lord, and I will accept you.
2 Blick hin und schau zu den Höhen hinauf! Wo hast du dich nicht schänden lassen? An allen Wegen hast du auf sie gewartet wie ein Araber in der Wüste. Mit deiner Unzucht und Verkommenheit hast du das Land entweiht.	2 Lift your eyes straight up, and see where you did not debase yourself. You were sitting in the roadways, waiting for them, like a robber in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land by your fornications and by your wickedness.
3 Da blieb der Regen aus und auch der Frühjahrsregen kam nicht. Doch du hattest die freche Stirn einer Dirne und wolltest dich nicht schämen.	3 For this reason, the rain showers were withheld, and there were no late season rains. You made your face like that of a promiscuous woman; you were not willing to blush.
4 Gewiss, von da an hast du mir zugerufen: Mein Vater, der Freund meiner Jugend bist du.	4 Therefore, at least from this moment on, call out to me: ‘You are my father, the guide of my virginity.’
5 Wird er denn ewig zürnen oder immerfort nachtragen? Ja, so sagtest du und tatest Böses, so viel du konntest.	5 Why should you be angry unceasingly? And will you continue in this to the end? Behold, you have spoken and done evil, for you were able to do so.”
6 Der Herr sprach zu mir zur Zeit des Königs Joschija: Hast du gesehen, was Israel, die Abtrünnige, getan hat? Sie begab sich auf jeden hohen Berg und unter jeden üppigen Baum und trieb dort Unzucht.	6 And, in the days of king Josiah, the Lord said to me: “Have you not seen what the apostate Israel has done? She has brought herself up to every lofty mountain, and she has lain down under every leafy tree, and she has committed fornication there.
7 Ich dachte: Nachdem sie dies alles getan hat, wird sie schließlich zu mir zurückkehren; aber sie kehrte nicht zurück. Das sah ihre Schwester Juda, die Treulose.	7 And when she had done all these things, I said: ‘Return to me.’ But she did not return. And her deceitful sister Judah saw this:
8 Auch sah sie, dass ich Israel, die Abtrünnige, wegen ihres Ehebruchs entließ und ihr die Scheidungsurkunde gab. Aber das schreckte ihre Schwester Juda, die Treulose, nicht ab; sie ging hin und trieb ebenfalls Unzucht.	8 that because the apostate Israel had committed adultery, I had dismissed her and had given her a bill of divorce. Yet her deceitful sister Judah was not afraid. But she, too, went and committed fornication herself.
9 Durch ihre leichtfertige Unzucht hat sie das Land entweiht und mit Stein und Holz Ehebruch getrieben.	9 And by the act of her fornication, she defiled the land. For she committed adultery with that which is stone and wood.
10 Bei all dem ist auch ihre Schwester Juda, die Treulose, nicht mit ganzem Herzen zu mir zurückgekehrt, sondern nur zum Schein - Spruch des Herrn.	10 And after all these things, her deceitful sister Judah has not returned to me with her whole heart, but with lies, says the Lord.”
11 Auch sagte der Herr zu mir: Israel, die Abtrünnige, trifft weniger Schuld als Juda, die Treulose.	11 And the Lord said to me: “The apostate Israel has justified her own soul by comparing herself to the deceitful Judah.
12 Geh hin, ruf diese Worte gegen Norden und sprich: Kehr zurück, Israel, du Abtrünnige - Spruch des Herrn! Ich schaue dich nicht mehr zornig an; denn ich bin gütig - Spruch des Herrn -, ich trage nicht ewig nach.	12 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and you shall say: Return, O apostate Israel, says the Lord. For I will not avert my face from you. For I am holy, says the Lord, and I will not be angry forever.
13 Doch erkenne deine Schuld: Dem Herrn, deinem Gott, hast du die Treue gebrochen, überallhin bist du zu den fremden Göttern gelaufen [unter jeden üppigen Baum], auf meine Stimme aber hast du nicht gehört - Spruch des Herrn.	13 So then, truly acknowledge your iniquity, that you have betrayed the Lord your God, and that you have spread your ways to strangers, under every leafy tree, and that you have not listened to my voice, says the Lord.
14 Kehrt um, ihr abtrünnigen Söhne - Spruch des Herrn; denn ich bin euer Gebieter. Ich hole euch, einen aus jeder Stadt und zwei aus jeder Sippe, und bringe euch nach Zion.	14 Convert, O rebellious sons, says the Lord. For I am your leader. And so, I will take you, one from a city, and two from a family, and I will lead you into Zion.
15 Ich gebe euch Hirten nach meinem Herzen; mit Einsicht und Klugheit werden sie euch weiden.	15 And I will give you pastors according to my own heart. And they will feed you with knowledge and doctrine.
16 In jenen Tagen, wenn ihr euch im Land vermehrt und fruchtbar seid - Spruch des Herrn -, wird man nicht mehr rufen: Die Bundeslade des Herrn! Sie wird niemand in den Sinn kommen; man denkt nicht mehr an sie, vermisst sie nicht und stellt auch keine neue her.	16 And when you have been multiplied and increased in the land in those days, says the Lord, they will no longer say: ‘The Ark of the covenant of the Lord!’ And it will not enter into the heart, and they will not call it to mind. It will neither be visited, nor made use of, any longer.
17 In jener Zeit wird man Jerusalem «Thron des Herrn» nennen; dort, beim Namen des Herrn in Jerusalem, werden sich alle Völker versammeln und sie werden nicht mehr dem Trieb ihres bösen Herzens folgen.	17 In that time, Jerusalem will be called: ‘The Throne of the Lord.’ And all the nations will be gathered to it, in the name of the Lord, in Jerusalem. And they will not walk after the depravity of their own most wicked heart.
18 In jenen Tagen wird das Haus Juda zum Haus Israel gehen und sie werden vereint aus dem Nordland in das Land kommen, das ich euren Vätern zum Erbe gegeben habe.	18 In those days, the house of Judah will go to the house of Israel, and they will come from the land of the north, at the same time, to the land that I gave to your fathers.
19 Ich hatte gedacht: Ja, ich will dich unter die Söhne aufnehmen und dir ein liebliches Land geben, das herrlichste Erbteil unter den Völkern. Ich dachte, du würdest mich Vater nennen und dich nicht abwenden von mir.	19 But I said: How shall I place you among the sons, and distribute to you a desirable land, the preeminent inheritance of the host of the Gentiles? And I said: You will call me Father, and you will not cease to walk after me.
20 Doch wie eine Frau ihres Freundes wegen treulos wird, so seid auch ihr mir treulos geworden, ihr vom Haus Israel - Spruch des Herrn.	20 But, in the same way that a woman spurns her lover, so also has the house of Israel spurned me, says the Lord.”
21 Horch, man hört auf den Höhen das Weinen und Flehen der Söhne Israels, weil sie krumme Wege gegangen sind und den Herrn, ihren Gott, vergessen haben.	21 A voice has been heard in the highways, the weeping and wailing of the sons of Israel. For they have made their own ways sinful; they have forgotten the Lord their God.
22 Kehrt um, ihr abtrünnigen Söhne, ich will eure Abtrünnigkeit heilen. «Da sind wir, wir kommen zu dir; denn du bist der Herr, unser Gott!	22 “Convert, O rebellious sons! And I will heal your rebelliousness.” “Behold, we are returning to you. For you are the Lord our God!
23 Fürwahr, Trug sind die Höhen, der Lärm auf den Bergen. Fürwahr, beim Herrn, unserm Gott, ist Israels Rettung.	23 Truly, the hills were liars, with the multitude of the mountains. Truly, the salvation of Israel is in the Lord our God.
24 Doch der Baal fraß seit unsrer Jugend alles, was unsere Väter erwarben, ihre Schafe und Rinder, ihre Söhne und Töchter.	24 Confusion has devoured the labor of our fathers, from our youth, with their flocks and their herds, with their sons and their daughters.
25 Wir betten uns in unsere Schmach und unsere Schande bedeckt uns. Denn wir haben gesündigt gegen den Herrn, unsern Gott, wir selbst und unsere Väter, von Jugend an bis auf den heutigen Tag. Wir haben nicht gehört auf die Stimme des Herrn, unseres Gottes.»	25 We will sleep in our confusion, and our disgrace will cover us. For we have sinned against the Lord our God: we and our fathers, from our youth, even to this day. And we have not listened to the voice of the Lord our God.”
