Livro dos Provérbios 31

1 Palavras de Lamuel, rei de Massa, que lhe foram ensinadas por sua mãe:	1 The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:
2 Meu filho, filho de minhas entranhas, que te direi eu? Não, ó filho de meus votos!	2 “What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?
3 Não dês teu vigor às mulheres e teu caminho àquelas que perdem os reis.	3 Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.
4 Não é próprio dos reis, Lamuel, não convém aos reis beber vinho, nem aos príncipes dar-se aos licores,	4 Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.
5 para que, bebendo, eles não esqueçam a lei e não desconheçam o direito de todos os infelizes.	5 And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.
6 Dai a bebida forte àquele que desfalece e o vinho àquele que tem amargura no coração:	6 Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.
7 que ele beba e esquecerá sua miséria e já não se lembrará de suas mágoas.	7 Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Abre tua boca a favor do mundo, pela causa de todos os abandonados;	8 Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.
9 abre tua boca para pronunciar sentenças justas, faze justiça ao aflito e ao indigente.	9 Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.
10 Uma mulher virtuosa, quem pode encontrá-la? Superior ao das pérolas é o seu valor.	10 Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.
11 Confia nela o coração de seu marido, e jamais lhe faltará coisa alguma.	11 The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.
12 Ela lhe proporciona o bem, nunca o mal, em todos os dias de sua vida.	12 She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 Ela procura lã e linho e trabalha com mão alegre.	13 She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.
14 Semelhante ao navio do mercador, manda vir seus víveres de longe.	14 She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.
15 Levanta-se, ainda de noite, distribui a comida à sua casa e a tarefa às suas servas.	15 And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.
16 Ela encontra uma terra, adquire-a. Planta uma vinha com o ganho de suas mãos.	16 She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.
17 Cinge os rins de fortaleza, revigora seus braços.	17 She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.
18 Alegra-se com o seu lucro, e sua lâmpada não se apaga durante a noite.	18 She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.
19 Põe a mão na roca, seus dedos manejam o fuso.	19 She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 Estende os braços ao infeliz e abre a mão ao indigente.	20 She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.
21 Ela não teme a neve em sua casa, porque toda a sua família tem vestes duplas.	21 She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.
22 Faz para si cobertas: suas vestes são de linho fino e de púrpura.	22 She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.
23 Seu marido é considerado nas portas da cidade, quando se senta com os anciãos da terra.	23 Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.
24 Tece linha e o vende, fornece cintos ao mercador.	24 She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.
25 Fortaleza e graça lhe servem de ornamentos; ri-se do dia de amanhã.	25 Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.
26 Abre a boca com sabedoria, amáveis instruções surgem de sua língua.	26 She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 Vigia o andamento de sua casa e não come o pão da ociosidade.	27 She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.
28 Seus filhos se levantam para proclamá-la bem-aventurada e seu marido para elogiá-la.	28 Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.
29 Muitas mulheres demonstram vigor, mas tu excedes a todas.	29 Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.
30 A graça é falaz e a beleza é vã; a mulher inteligente é a que se deve louvar.	30 Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.
31 Dai-lhe o fruto de suas mãos e que suas obras a louvem nas portas da cidade.	31 Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.
