1 Hino de Asaf. Por que, Senhor, persistis em nos rejeitar? Por que se inflama vossa ira contra as ovelhas de vosso rebanho?	1 A maskil of Asaph. I Why, God, have you cast us off forever? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?
2 Recordai-vos de vosso povo que elegestes outrora, da tribo que resgatastes para vossa possessão, da montanha de Sião onde fizestes vossa morada.	2 Remember your flock that you gathered of old, the tribe you redeemed as your very own. Remember Mount Zion where you dwell.
3 Dirigi vossos passos a estes lugares definitivamente devastados; o inimigo tudo destruiu no santuário.	3 Turn your steps toward the utter ruins, toward the sanctuary devastated by the enemy.
4 Os adversários rugiam no local de vossas assembléias, como troféus hastearam suas bandeiras.	4 Your foes roared triumphantly in your shrine; they set up their own tokens of victory.
5 Pareciam homens a vibrar o machado na floresta espessa.	5 They hacked away like foresters gathering boughs, swinging their axes in a thicket of trees.
6 Rebentaram os portais do templo com malhos e martelos,	6 They smashed all your engraved work, pounded it with hammer and pick.
7 atearam fogo ao vosso santuário, profanaram, arrasaram a morada do vosso nome.	7 They set your sanctuary on fire; the abode of your name they razed and profaned.
8 Disseram em seus corações: Destruamo-los todos juntos; incendiai todos os lugares santos da terra.	8 They said in their hearts, "Destroy them all! Burn all the shrines of God in the land!"
9 Não vemos mais nossos emblemas, já não há nenhum profeta e ninguém entre nós que saiba até quando...	9 Now we see no signs, we have no prophets, no one who knows how long.
10 Ó Deus, até quando nos insultará o inimigo? O adversário blasfemará vosso nome para sempre?	10 How long, O God, shall the enemy jeer? Shall the foe revile your name forever?
11 Por que retirais a vossa mão? Por que guardais vossa destra em vosso seio?	11 Why draw back your right hand, why keep it idle beneath your cloak?
12 Entretanto, Deus é meu rei desde os tempos antigos, ele que opera a salvação por toda a terra.	12 Yet you, God, are my king from of old, winning victories throughout the earth.
13 Vosso poder abriu o mar, esmagastes nas águas as cabeças de dragões.	13 You stirred up the sea in your might; you smashed the heads of the dragons on the waters.
14 Quebrastes as cabeças do Leviatã, e as destes como pasto aos monstros do mar.	14 You crushed the heads of Leviathan, tossed him for food to the sharks.
15 Fizestes jorrar fontes e torrentes, secastes rios caudalosos.	15 You opened up springs and torrents, brought dry land out of the primeval waters.
16 Vosso é o dia, a noite vos pertence: vós criastes a lua e o sol,	16 Yours the day and yours the night; you set the moon and sun in place.
17 Vós marcastes à terra seus confins, estabelecestes o inverno e o verão.	17 You fixed all the limits of the earth; summer and winter you made.
18 Lembrai-vos: o inimigo vos insultou, Senhor, e um povo insensato ultrajou o vosso nome.	18 Remember how the enemy has jeered, O LORD, how a foolish people has reviled your name.
19 Não abandoneis ao abutre a vida de vossa pomba, não esqueçais para sempre a vida de vossos pobres.	19 Do not surrender to beasts those who praise you; do not forget forever the life of your afflicted.
20 Olhai para a vossa aliança, porque todos os recantos da terra são antros de violência.	20 Look to your covenant, for the land is filled with gloom; the pastures, with violence.
21 Que os oprimidos não voltem confundidos, que o pobre e o indigente possam louvar o vosso nome.	21 Let not the oppressed turn back in shame; may the poor and needy praise your name.
22 Levantai-vos, ó Deus, defendei a vossa causa. Lembrai-vos das blasfêmias que continuamente vos dirige o insensato.	22 Arise, God, defend your cause; remember the constant jeers of the fools.
23 Não olvideis os insultos de vossos adversários, e o tumulto crescente dos que se insurgem contra vós.	23 Do not ignore the clamor of your foes, the unceasing uproar of your enemies.
