1 Prière de Moïse, homme de Dieu. Seigneur, tu as été pour nous d’âge en âge un refuge.	1 The Praise of a Canticle, of David. Whoever dwells with the assistance of the Most High will abide in the protection of the God of heaven.
2 Bien avant la naissance des monts, avant la mise au monde du globe de la terre, tu étais déjà Dieu, tu l’es à jamais,	2 He will say to the Lord, “You are my supporter and my refuge.” My God, I will hope in him.
3 toi qui renvoies les mortels à la poussière, et qui leur dis: “Repartez, fils d’Adam!”	3 For he has freed me from the snare of those who go hunting, and from the harsh word.
4 Mille années ont passé: pour toi c’était hier! mille années: le temps d’une veille!	4 He will overshadow you with his shoulders, and you will hope under his wings.
5 Tu les sèmes tour à tour, et le matin voit sortir l’herbe verte.	5 His truth will surround you with a shield. You will not be afraid: before the terror of the night,
6 Au matin vient sa fleur, elle s’ouvre, et puis se fane au soir, elle se dessèche.	6 before the arrow flying in the day, before the troubles that wander in the darkness, nor of invasion and the midday demon.
7 Tu nous vois consumés par ta colère, désarçonnés par ta fureur.	7 A thousand will fall before your side and ten thousand before your right hand. Yet it will not draw near you.
8 Tu as rappelé nos fautes en ta présence, tu as mis nos secrets sous les feux de ta face,	8 So then, truly, you will consider with your eyes, and you will see the retribution of sinners.
9 et nos jours ont couru sous ta colère, nos années ont passé comme un soupir.	9 For you, O Lord, are my hope. You have set the Most High as your refuge.
10 Combien d’années? Soixante-dix ans peut-être, quatre-vingts, si l’on est vigoureux. La plupart ne sont que peine et déception, elles passent vite et nous voilà envolés.	10 Disaster will not draw near to you, and the scourge will not approach your tabernacle.
11 Qui a connu la force de ta colère, qui a sondé le fond de ta fureur?	11 For he has given his Angels charge over you, so as to preserve you in all your ways.
12 Apprends-nous à compter nos jours, que notre cœur enfin vienne à la sagesse.	12 With their hands, they will carry you, lest you hurt your foot against a stone.
13 Reviens, Seigneur, jusques à quand? Aie compassion de tes serviteurs.	13 You will walk over the asp and the king serpent, and you will trample the lion and the dragon.
14 Comble-nous de tes faveurs dès le matin, que le rire et la joie soient toujours avec nous.	14 Because he has hoped in me, I will free him. I will protect him because he has known my name.
15 Fais que dure la joie comme ont duré nos misères, et les années où nous avons connu le malheur.	15 He will cry out to me, and I will heed him. I am with him in tribulation. I will rescue him, and I will glorify him.
16 Agis enfin et que tes serviteurs le voient, que leurs enfants découvrent ta majesté.	16 I will fill him with length of days. And I will reveal to him my salvation.
17 Que le Seigneur nous couvre de sa douceur et qu’il mène à bien l’œuvre de nos mains!
