VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Attulerunt igitur arcam Dei, et constituerunt eam in medio tabernaculi quod tetenderat ei David : et obtulerunt holocausta et pacifica coram Deo.	1 They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent which David had erected for it, and broughtburnt offerings and made communion sacrifices in God's presence.
2 Cumque complesset David offerens holocausta et pacifica, benedixit populo in nomine Domini.	2 And when David had finished making burnt offerings and communion sacrifices, he blessed thepeople in the name of Yahweh.
3 Et divisit universis per singulos, a viro usque ad mulierem, tortam panis, et partem assæ carnis bubalæ, et frixam oleo similam.	3 To all the Israelites, both men and women, to each, he then distributed a loaf of bread, a portion ofmeat and a raisin cake.
4 Constituitque coram arca Domini de Levitis, qui ministrarent, et recordarentur operum ejus, et glorificarent atque laudarent Dominum Deum Israël :	4 He appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to extol, glorify and praiseYahweh, God of Israel;
5 Asaph principem, et secundum ejus Zachariam : porro Jahiel, et Semiramoth, et Jehiel, et Mathathiam, et Eliab, et Banaiam, et Obededom : Jehiel super organa psalterii et lyras : Asaph autem ut cymbalis personaret :	5 first Asaph, second Zechariah, then Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, who played the lyre and harp, while Asaph played the cymbals.
6 Banaiam vero et Jaziel sacerdotes canere tuba jugiter coram arca fœderis Domini.	6 The priests Benaiah and Jahaziel continually blew the trumpet before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 In illo die fecit David principem ad confitendum Domino Asaph et fratres ejus :	7 On that day, David was the first to assign to Asaph and his kinsmen the giving of thanks to Yahweh:
8 Confitemini Domino, et invocate nomen ejus : notas facite in populis adinventiones ejus.	8 Give thanks to Yahweh, call his name aloud, proclaim his deeds to the peoples.
9 Cantate ei, et psallite ei, et narrate omnia mirabilia ejus.	9 Chant to him, play to him, sing about al his wonders!
10 Laudate nomen sanctum ejus : lætetur cor quærentium Dominum.	10 Take pride in his holy name, let your heart rejoice, you seekers of Yahweh!
11 Quærite Dominum, et virtutem ejus : quærite faciem ejus semper.	11 Seek out Yahweh, seek his strength, continual y seek out his presence!
12 Recordamini mirabilium ejus quæ fecit ; signorum illius, et judiciorum oris ejus,	12 Remember what wonders he has done, what miracles, what rulings he has given,
13 semen Israël servi ejus, filii Jacob electi ejus.	13 you offspring of Israel his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen one!
14 Ipse Dominus Deus noster : in universa terra judicia ejus.	14 For he is Yahweh our God, his authority extends throughout the world.
15 Recordamini in sempiternum pacti ejus : sermonis quem præcepit in mille generationes,	15 For ever remember his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations,
16 quem pepigit cum Abraham, et juramenti illius cum Isaac.	16 which he concluded with Abraham, which was sworn by him to Isaac,
17 Et constituit illud Jacob in præceptum, et Israël in pactum sempiternum,	17 since he confirmed it as a law for Jacob, as an eternal covenant for Israel,
18 dicens : Tibi dabo terram Chanaan, funiculum hæreditatis vestræ :	18 saying, 'I wil give you the country; Canaan is the measure of your inheritance,
19 cum essent pauci numero, parvi et coloni ejus.	19 'though you are few in number, only a few strangers there!'
20 Et transierunt de gente in gentem, et de regno ad populum alterum.	20 As they wandered from nation to nation, from this kingdom to that people,
21 Non dimisit quemquam calumniari eos, sed increpavit pro eis reges.	21 he would not let anyone oppress them and on their account he admonished kings,
22 Nolite tangere christos meos, et in prophetis meis nolite malignari.	22 'You are not to touch my anointed ones, my prophets are not to be harmed!'
23 Cantate Domino omnis terra ; annuntiate ex die in diem salutare ejus :	23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth, day after day proclaim his salvation!
24 narrate in gentibus gloriam ejus ; in cunctis populis mirabilia ejus.	24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvels to every people!
25 Quia magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis, et horribilis super omnes deos.	25 Great is Yahweh, worthy of all praise, more awesome than any of the gods.
26 Omnes enim dii populorum idola : Dominus autem cælos fecit.	26 Nothingness, al the gods of the nations. Yahweh it was who made the heavens,
27 Confessio et magnificentia coram eo : fortitudo et gaudium in loco ejus.	27 in his presence are splendour and majesty, in his sanctuary strength and joy.
28 Afferte Domino, familiæ populorum : afferte Domino gloriam et imperium.	28 Give Yahweh his due, families of peoples, give Yahweh his due of glory and power,
29 Date Domino gloriam ; nomini ejus levate sacrificium, et venite in conspectu ejus : et adorate Dominum in decore sancto.	29 give Yahweh the glory due to his name! Bring an offering and enter his courts, bow down to Yahwehin his sacred court,
30 Commoveatur a facie ejus omnis terra : ipse enim fundavit orbem immobilem.	30 tremble before him, al the earth! The world is firm, it cannot be moved,
31 Lætentur cæli, et exultet terra, et dicant in nationibus : Dominus regnavit.	31 let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad! Say among the nations, 'Yahweh is king!'
32 Tonet mare et plenitudo ejus ; exultent agri, et omnia quæ in eis sunt.	32 Let the sea thunder and al it holds, the countryside exult and everything that is in it,
33 Tunc laudabunt ligna saltus coram Domino : quia venit judicare terram.	33 and al the trees of the forest cry out for joy at Yahweh's approach, for he is coming to judge theearth.
34 Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus : quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.	34 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his faithful love lasts for ever!
35 Et dicite : Salva nos, Deus salvator noster, et congrega nos, et erue de gentibus : ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo, et exultemus in carminibus tuis.	35 Say, 'Save us, God of our salvation, gather us together and free us from the nations, so that we maygive thanks to your holy name -- to be extolled whenever you are praised!'
36 Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, ab æterno usque in æternum. Et dicat omnis populo : Amen, et hymnum Domino.	36 Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! To which all the people said,'Amen, Al eluia!'
37 Reliquit itaque ibi coram arca fœderis Domini Asaph et fratres ejus, ut ministrarent in conspectu arcæ jugiter per singulos dies, et vices suas.	37 There before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh David left Asaph and his kinsmen to maintain apermanent ministry before the ark as each day's ritual required,
38 Porro Obededom, et fratres ejus sexaginta octo : et Obededom filium Idithun, et Hosa, constituit janitores ;	38 and also Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight kinsmen. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah weregatekeepers.
39 Sadoc autem sacerdotem, et fratres ejus sacerdotes, coram tabernaculo Domini in excelso quod erat in Gabaon,	39 Zadok the priest and the priests, his kinsmen, he left before the dwelling of Yahweh on the high placeat Gibeon
40 ut offerrent holocausta Domino super altare holocautomatis jugiter, mane et vespere, juxta omnia quæ scripta sunt in lege Domini, quam præcepit Israëli.	40 to bring burnt offerings to Yahweh unfailingly, morning and evening, on the altar of burnt offering, andto carry out al that is written in the Law of Yahweh laid down for Israel.
41 Et post eum Heman, et Idithun, et reliquos electos, unumquemque vocabulo suo ad confitendum Domino, quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.	41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those who were chosen and assigned by nameto give thanks to Yahweh, 'for his faithful love lasts for ever'.
42 Heman quoque et Idithun canentes tuba, et quatientes cymbala et omnia musicorum organa ad canendum Deo : filios autem Idithun fecit esse portarios.	42 With them were Heman and Jeduthun to play trumpets and cymbals, as wel as instruments foraccompanying sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were in charge of the gates.
43 Reversusque est omnis populus in domum suam : et David, ut benediceret etiam domui suæ.	43 Then al the people went back to their homes, and David went back to bless his household.
