Prima lettera di Giovanni 1

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ciò che era fin da principio, ciò che noi abbiamo udito, ciò che noi abbiamo veduto con i nostri occhi, ciò che noi abbiamo contemplato e ciò che le nostre mani hanno toccato, ossia il Verbo della vita	1 Something which has existed since the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with ourown eyes, which we have watched and touched with our own hands, the Word of life -- this is our theme.
2 (poiché la vita si è fatta visibile, noi l'abbiamo veduta e di ciò rendiamo testimonianza e vi annunziamo la vita eterna, che era presso il Padre e si è resa visibile a noi),	2 That life was made visible; we saw it and are giving our testimony, declaring to you the eternal life,which was present to the Father and has been revealed to us.
3 quello che abbiamo veduto e udito, noi lo annunziamo anche a voi, perché anche voi siate in comunione con noi. La nostra comunione è col Padre e col Figlio suo Gesù Cristo.	3 We are declaring to you what we have seen and heard, so that you too may share our life. Our life isshared with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 Queste cose vi scriviamo, perché la nostra gioia sia perfetta.	4 We are writing this to you so that our joy may be complete.
5 Questo è il messaggio che abbiamo udito da lui e che ora vi annunziamo: Dio è luce e in lui non ci sono tenebre.	5 This is what we have heard from him and are declaring to you: God is light, and there is no darkness inhim at al .
6 Se diciamo che siamo in comunione con lui e camminiamo nelle tenebre, mentiamo e non mettiamo in pratica la verità.	6 If we say that we share in God's life while we are living in darkness, we are lying, because we are notliving the truth.
7 Ma se camminiamo nella luce, come egli è nella luce, siamo in comunione gli uni con gli altri, e il sangue di Gesù, suo Figlio, ci purifica da ogni peccato.	7 But if we live in light, as he is in light, we have a share in another's life, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,cleanses us from all sin.
8 Se diciamo che siamo senza peccato, inganniamo noi stessi e la verità non è in noi.	8 If we say, 'We have no sin,' we are deceiving ourselves, and truth has no place in us;
9 Se riconosciamo i nostri peccati, egli che è fedele e giusto ci perdonerà i peccati e ci purificherà da ogni colpa.	9 if we acknowledge our sins, he is trustworthy and upright, so that he will forgive our sins and wilcleanse us from all evil.
10 Se diciamo che non abbiamo peccato, facciamo di lui un bugiardo e la sua parola non è in noi.	10 If we say, 'We have never sinned,' we make him a liar, and his word has no place in us.
