Prima lettera di Giovanni 1

1 Ciò che era fin da principio, ciò che noi abbiamo udito, ciò che noi abbiamo veduto con i nostri occhi, ciò che noi abbiamo contemplato e ciò che le nostre mani hanno toccato, ossia il Verbo della vita	1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life:
2 (poiché la vita si è fatta visibile, noi l'abbiamo veduta e di ciò rendiamo testimonianza e vi annunziamo la vita eterna, che era presso il Padre e si è resa visibile a noi),	2 For the life was manifested; and we have seen and do bear witness, and declare unto you the life eternal, which was with the Father, and hath appeared to us:
3 quello che abbiamo veduto e udito, noi lo annunziamo anche a voi, perché anche voi siate in comunione con noi. La nostra comunione è col Padre e col Figlio suo Gesù Cristo.	3 That which we have seen and have heard, we declare unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us, and our fellowship may be with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 Queste cose vi scriviamo, perché la nostra gioia sia perfetta.	4 And these things we write to you, that you may rejoice, and your joy may be full.
5 Questo è il messaggio che abbiamo udito da lui e che ora vi annunziamo: Dio è luce e in lui non ci sono tenebre.	5 And this is the declaration which we have heard from him, and declare unto you: That God is light, and in him there is no darkness.
6 Se diciamo che siamo in comunione con lui e camminiamo nelle tenebre, mentiamo e non mettiamo in pratica la verità.	6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
7 Ma se camminiamo nella luce, come egli è nella luce, siamo in comunione gli uni con gli altri, e il sangue di Gesù, suo Figlio, ci purifica da ogni peccato.	7 But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 Se diciamo che siamo senza peccato, inganniamo noi stessi e la verità non è in noi.	8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 Se riconosciamo i nostri peccati, egli che è fedele e giusto ci perdonerà i peccati e ci purificherà da ogni colpa.	9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.
10 Se diciamo che non abbiamo peccato, facciamo di lui un bugiardo e la sua parola non è in noi.	10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
