1 Tu però insegna ciò che è secondo la sana dottrina:	1 But you are to speak the things that befit sound doctrine.
2 i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, assennati, saldi nella fede, nell'amore e nella pazienza.	2 Old men should be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
3 Ugualmente le donne anziane si comportino in maniera degna dei credenti; non siano maldicenti né schiave di molto vino; sappiano piuttosto insegnare il bene,	3 Old women, similarly, should be in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well,
4 per formare le giovani all'amore del marito e dei figli,	4 so that they may teach prudence to the young women, so that they may love their husbands, love their children,
5 ad essere prudenti, caste, dedite alla famiglia, buone, sottomesse ai propri mariti, perché la parola di Dio non debba diventare oggetto di biasimo.	5 be sensible, chaste, restrained, have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed.
6 Esorta ancora i più giovani a essere assennati,	6 Exhort young men similarly, so that they may show self-restraint.
7 offrendo te stesso come esempio in tutto di buona condotta, con purezza di dottrina, dignità,	7 In all things, present yourself as an example of good works: in doctrine, with integrity, with seriousness,
8 linguaggio sano e irreprensibile, perché il nostro avversario resti confuso, non avendo nulla di male da dire sul conto nostro.	8 with sound words, irreproachably, so that he who is an opponent may dread that he has nothing evil to say about us.
9 Esorta gli schiavi a esser sottomessi in tutto ai loro padroni; li accontentino e non li contraddicano,	9 Exhort servants to be submissive to their masters, in all things pleasing, not contradicting,
10 non rubino, ma dimostrino fedeltà assoluta, per fare onore in tutto alla dottrina di Dio, nostro salvatore.	10 not cheating, but in all things showing good fidelity, so that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
11 È apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, apportatrice di salvezza per tutti gli uomini,	11 For the grace of God our Savior has appeared to all men,
12 che ci insegna a rinnegare l'empietà e i desideri mondani e a vivere con sobrietà, giustizia e pietà in questo mondo,	12 instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,
13 nell'attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del nostro grande Dio e salvatore Gesù Cristo;	13 looking forward to the blessed hope and the advent of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ.
14 il quale ha dato se stesso per noi, per riscattarci da ogni iniquità e formarsi un popolo puro che gli appartenga, zelante nelle opere buone.	14 He gave himself for our sake, so that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse for himself an acceptable people, pursuers of good works.
15 Questo devi insegnare, raccomandare e rimproverare con tutta autorità. Nessuno osi disprezzarti!	15 Speak and exhort and argue these things with all authority. Let no one despise you.
