1 Sei giorni dopo, Gesù prese con sé Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni suo fratello e li condusse in disparte, su un alto monte.	1 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a highmountain by themselves.
2 E fu trasfigurato davanti a loro; il suo volto brillò come il sole e le sue vesti divennero candide come la luce.	2 There in their presence he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became asdazzling as light.
3 Ed ecco apparvero loro Mosè ed Elia, che conversavano con lui.	3 And suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him.
4 Pietro prese allora la parola e disse a Gesù: "Signore, è bello per noi restare qui; se vuoi, farò qui tre tende, una per te, una per Mosè e una per Elia".	4 Then Peter spoke to Jesus. 'Lord,' he said, 'it is wonderful for us to be here; if you want me to, I willmake three shelters here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.'
5 Egli stava ancora parlando quando una nuvola luminosa li avvolse con la sua ombra. Ed ecco una voce che diceva: "Questi è il Figlio mio prediletto, nel quale mi sono compiaciuto. Ascoltatelo".	5 He was stil speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from thecloud there came a voice which said, 'This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.'
6 All'udire ciò, i discepoli caddero con la faccia a terra e furono presi da grande timore.	6 When they heard this, the disciples fel on their faces, overcome with fear.
7 Ma Gesù si avvicinò e, toccatili, disse: "Alzatevi e non temete".	7 But Jesus came up and touched them, saying, 'Stand up, do not be afraid.'
8 Sollevando gli occhi non videro più nessuno, se non Gesù solo.	8 And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but Jesus.
9 E mentre discendevano dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro: "Non parlate a nessuno di questa visione, finché il Figlio dell'uomo non sia risorto dai morti".	9 As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order, 'Tel no one about this vision untilthe Son of man has risen from the dead.'
10 Allora i discepoli gli domandarono: "Perché dunque gli scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?".	10 And the disciples put this question to him, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'
11 Ed egli rispose: "Sì, verrà Elia e ristabilirà ogni cosa.	11 He replied, 'Elijah is indeed coming, and he wil set everything right again;
12 Ma io vi dico: Elia è già venuto e non l'hanno riconosciuto; anzi, l'hanno trattato come hanno voluto. Così anche il Figlio dell'uomo dovrà soffrire per opera loro".	12 however, I tel you that Elijah has come already and they did not recognise him but treated him asthey pleased; and the Son of man wil suffer similarly at their hands.'
13 Allora i discepoli compresero che egli parlava di Giovanni il Battista.	13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking of John the Baptist.
14 Appena ritornati presso la folla, si avvicinò a Gesù un uomo	14 As they were rejoining the crowd a man came up to him and went down on his knees before him.
15 che, gettatosi in ginocchio, gli disse: "Signore, abbi pietà di mio figlio. Egli è epilettico e soffre molto; cade spesso nel fuoco e spesso anche nell'acqua;	15 'Lord,' he said, 'take pity on my son: he is demented and in a wretched state; he is always fal ing intofire and into water.
16 l'ho già portato dai tuoi discepoli, ma non hanno potuto guarirlo".	16 I took him to your disciples and they were unable to cure him.'
17 E Gesù rispose: "O generazione incredula e perversa! Fino a quando starò con voi? Fino a quando dovrò sopportarvi? Portatemelo qui".	17 In reply, Jesus said, 'Faithless and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you? Howmuch longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.'
18 E Gesù gli parlò minacciosamente, e il demonio uscì da lui e da quel momento il ragazzo fu guarito.	18 And when Jesus rebuked it the devil came out of the boy, who was cured from that moment.
19 Allora i discepoli, accostatisi a Gesù in disparte, gli chiesero: "Perché noi non abbiamo potuto scacciarlo?".	19 Then the disciples came privately to Jesus. 'Why were we unable to drive it out?' they asked.
20 Ed egli rispose: "Per la vostra poca fede. In verità vi dico: se avrete fede pari a un granellino di senapa, potrete dire a questo monte: spostati da qui a là, ed esso si sposterà, e niente vi sarà impossibile.	20 He answered, 'Because you have so little faith. In truth I tel you, if your faith is the size of a mustardseed you wil say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it wil move; nothing will be impossible foryou.'
21 Questa razza di demòni non si scaccia se non con la preghiera e il digiuno".	21
22 Mentre si trovavano insieme in Galilea, Gesù disse loro: "Il Figlio dell'uomo sta per esser consegnato nelle mani degli uomini	22 When they were together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of man is going to be delivered intothe power of men;
23 e lo uccideranno, ma il terzo giorno risorgerà". Ed essi furono molto rattristati.	23 they will put him to death, and on the third day he wil be raised up again.' And a great sadness cameover them.
24 Venuti a Cafàrnao, si avvicinarono a Pietro gli esattori della tassa per il tempio e gli dissero: "Il vostro maestro non paga la tassa per il tempio?".	24 When they reached Capernaum, the col ectors of the half-shekel came to Peter and said, 'Does yourmaster not pay the half-shekel?'
25 Rispose: "Sì". Mentre entrava in casa, Gesù lo prevenne dicendo: "Che cosa ti pare, Simone? I re di questa terra da chi riscuotono le tasse e i tributi? Dai propri figli o dagli altri?".	25 'Yes,' he replied, and went into the house. But before he could speak, Jesus said, 'Simon, what isyour opinion? From whom do earthly kings take tol or tribute? From their sons or from foreigners?'
26 Rispose: "Dagli estranei". E Gesù: "Quindi i figli sono esenti.	26 And when he replied, 'From foreigners,' Jesus said, 'Well then, the sons are exempt.
27 Ma perché non si scandalizzino, va' al mare, getta l'amo e il primo pesce che viene prendilo, aprigli la bocca e vi troverai una moneta d'argento. Prendila e consegnala a loro per me e per te".	27 However, so that we shal not be the downfal of others, go to the lake and cast a hook; take the firstfish that rises, open its mouth and there you wil find a shekel; take it and give it to them for me and for yourself.'
