Osea 13

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando Èfraim parlava, incuteva terrore, era un principe in Israele. Ma si è reso colpevole con Baal ed è decaduto.	1 When Ephraim used to speak, all trembled; he was a power in Israel; but once he had incurred guiltwith Baal, he died.
2 Tuttavia continuano a peccare e con il loro argento si sono fatti statue fuse, idoli di loro invenzione, tutti lavori di artigiani. Dicono: "Offri loro sacrifici" e mandano baci ai vitelli.	2 And now they compound their sins by casting images for themselves out of their silver, idols of theirown invention, the work of craftsmen, al of it! 'Sacrifice to them,' they say! Men bestow kisses to calves!
3 Perciò saranno come nube del mattino, come rugiada che all'alba svanisce, come pula lanciata lontano dall'aia, come fumo che esce dalla finestra.	3 That is why they will be like morning mist, like the dew that quickly disappears, like the chaff whirledfrom the threshing-floor, like smoke escaping through the window.
4 Eppure io sono il Signore tuo Dio fin dal paese d'Egitto, non devi conoscere altro Dio fuori di me, non c'è salvatore fuori di me.	4 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt when you knew no god but me, since youhad no one else to save you.
5 Io ti ho protetto nel deserto, in quell'arida terra.	5 I cared for you in the desert, in the land of dreadful drought.
6 Nel loro pascolo si sono saziati, si sono saziati e il loro cuore si è inorgoglito, per questo mi hanno dimenticato.	6 I pastured them, and they were satisfied; once satisfied, their hearts grew proud, and therefore theyforgot me.
7 Perciò io sarò per loro come un leone, come un leopardo li spierò per la via,	7 So now I shal be like a lion to them, like a leopard I shall lurk beside the road,
8 li assalirò come un'orsa privata dei figli, spezzerò l'involucro del loro cuore, li divorerò come una leonessa; li sbraneranno le bestie selvatiche.	8 like a bear robbed of her cubs I shal meet them and rend the membrane of their heart, and there likea lioness I shall eat them, like a wild beast tear them to shreds.
9 Io ti distruggerò, Israele, e chi potrà venirti in aiuto?	9 Israel, you have destroyed yourself though in me lies your help.
10 Dov'è ora il tuo re, che ti possa salvare? Dove sono i capi in tutte le tue città e i governanti di cui dicevi: "Dammi un re e dei capi"?	10 Your king, where is he now, to save you, or the governors in al your cities? - whom you oncepleaded for, saying, 'Give me a king and princes!'
11 Ti ho dato un re nella mia ira e con sdegno te lo riprendo.	11 In my anger I gave you a king and in my wrath I have taken him away.
12 L'iniquità di Èfraim è chiusa in luogo sicuro, il suo peccato è ben custodito.	12 Ephraim's guilt is packed away, his sin is locked up.
13 Dolori di partoriente lo sorprenderanno, ma egli è figlio privo di senno, poiché non si presenta a suo tempo all'uscire dal seno materno.	13 Pangs as of childbirth overtake him, and a stupid child he is; his time is due, but he does not leavethe womb.
14 Li strapperò di mano agli inferi, li riscatterò dalla morte? Dov'è, o morte, la tua peste? Dov'è, o inferi, il vostro sterminio? La compassione è nascosta ai miei occhi.	14 Shall I save them from the clutches of Sheol? Shal I buy them back from Death? Where are yourplagues, Death? Where are your scourges, Sheol? Compassion wil be banished from my sight!
15 Èfraim prosperi pure in mezzo ai fratelli: verrà il vento d'oriente, si alzerà dal deserto il soffio del Signore e farà inaridire le sue sorgenti, farà seccare le sue fonti, distruggerà il tesoro di tutti i vasi preziosi.	15 Though Ephraim bears more fruit than his brothers, the wind from the East wil come, Yahweh'sbreath blowing up from the desert to dry his spring, to dry up his fountain, to strip his treasury of everything worthhaving.
