Ester 7

1 Il re e Amàn andarono dunque al banchetto con la regina Ester.	1 When Mordecai had heard this, he tore his garments and put on sackcloth, strewing ashes on his head, and he cried out with a loud voice in the main street of the city, revealing the anguish of his soul.
2 Il re anche questo secondo giorno disse a Ester, mentre si beveva il vino: "Qual è la tua richiesta, regina Ester? Ti sarà concessa. Che desideri? Fosse anche la metà del regno, sarà fatto!".	2 And he continued with this lamenting, even up to the gate of the palace, for no one clothed with sackcloth is permitted to enter the king’s court.
3 Allora la regina Ester rispose: "Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, o re, e se così piace al re, la mia richiesta è che mi sia concessa la vita e il mio desiderio è che sia risparmiato il mio popolo.	3 Likewise, in all provinces, towns, and places where the king’s cruel decision arrived, there was extraordinary mourning among the Jews with fasting, wailing, and weeping, with many using sackcloth and ashes for their bed.
4 Perché io e il mio popolo siamo stati venduti per essere distrutti, uccisi, sterminati. Ora, se fossimo stati venduti per diventare schiavi e schiave, avrei taciuto; ma il nostro avversario non potrebbe riparare al danno fatto al re con la nostra morte".	4 Then Esther’s maids and eunuchs went in and informed her. When she heard it, she was shocked, and she sent a garment to clothe him and to take away the sackcloth, but he would not accept it.
5 Subito il re Assuero disse alla regina Ester: "Chi è e dov'è colui che ha pensato di fare una cosa simile?".	5 And she sent for Hathach the eunuch, whom the king had appointed to minister to her, and she instructed him to go to Mordecai and to discern from him why he was doing this.
6 Ester rispose: "L'avversario, il nemico, è quel malvagio di Amàn". Allora Amàn fu preso da terrore alla presenza del re e della regina.	6 And departing, Hathach went to Mordecai, who was standing in the street of the city, in front of the palace entrance.
7 Il re incollerito si alzò dal banchetto e uscì nel giardino della reggia, mentre Amàn rimase per chiedere la grazia della vita alla regina Ester, perché vedeva bene che da parte del re la sua rovina era decisa.	7 He told him everything that had happened, how Haman had promised to transfer silver into the king’s treasury for the death of the Jews.
8 Poi tornò dal giardino della reggia nel luogo del banchetto; intanto Amàn si era prostrato sul divano sul quale si trovava Ester. Allora il re esclamò: "Vuole anche far violenza alla regina, davanti a me, in casa mia?". Non appena questa parola fu uscita dalla bocca del re, posero un velo sulla faccia di Amàn.	8 Also, he gave him a copy of the edict that was hanging up in Susa, so that he would show it to the queen and advise her to go in to the king and beg him on behalf of her people.
9 Carbonà, uno degli eunuchi, disse alla presenza del re: "Ecco, è stato perfino rizzato in casa di Amàn un palo alto cinquanta cubiti, che Amàn ha fatto preparare per Mardocheo, il quale aveva parlato per il bene del re". Il re disse: "Impiccatevi lui!".	9 And Hathach returned and informed Esther of all that Mordecai had said.
10 Così Amàn fu impiccato al palo che aveva preparato per Mardocheo. E l'ira del re si calmò.	10 Likewise, all Israel cried out to the Lord with the same intention and supplication because certain death was hanging over them.
