1 Il re e Amàn andarono dunque al banchetto con la regina Ester.	1 So the king and Haman went to the banquet with Queen Esther.
2 Il re anche questo secondo giorno disse a Ester, mentre si beveva il vino: "Qual è la tua richiesta, regina Ester? Ti sarà concessa. Che desideri? Fosse anche la metà del regno, sarà fatto!".	2 Again, on this second day, during the drinking of the wine, the king said to Esther, "Whatever you ask, Queen Esther, shall be granted you. Whatever request you make shall be honored, even for half the kingdom."
3 Allora la regina Ester rispose: "Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, o re, e se così piace al re, la mia richiesta è che mi sia concessa la vita e il mio desiderio è che sia risparmiato il mio popolo.	3 Queen Esther replied: "If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, I ask that my life be spared, and I beg that you spare the lives of my people.
4 Perché io e il mio popolo siamo stati venduti per essere distrutti, uccisi, sterminati. Ora, se fossimo stati venduti per diventare schiavi e schiave, avrei taciuto; ma il nostro avversario non potrebbe riparare al danno fatto al re con la nostra morte".	4 For my people and I have been delivered to destruction, slaughter, and extinction. If we were to be sold into slavery I would remain silent, but as it is, the enemy will be unable to compensate for the harm done to the king."
5 Subito il re Assuero disse alla regina Ester: "Chi è e dov'è colui che ha pensato di fare una cosa simile?".	5 "Who and where," said King Ahasuerus to Queen Esther, "is the man who has dared to do this?"
6 Ester rispose: "L'avversario, il nemico, è quel malvagio di Amàn". Allora Amàn fu preso da terrore alla presenza del re e della regina.	6 Esther replied, "The enemy oppressing us is this wicked Haman." At this, Haman was seized with dread of the king and queen.
7 Il re incollerito si alzò dal banchetto e uscì nel giardino della reggia, mentre Amàn rimase per chiedere la grazia della vita alla regina Ester, perché vedeva bene che da parte del re la sua rovina era decisa.	7 The king left the banquet in anger and went into the garden of the palace, but Haman stayed to beg Queen Esther for his life, since he saw that the king had decided on his doom.
8 Poi tornò dal giardino della reggia nel luogo del banchetto; intanto Amàn si era prostrato sul divano sul quale si trovava Ester. Allora il re esclamò: "Vuole anche far violenza alla regina, davanti a me, in casa mia?". Non appena questa parola fu uscita dalla bocca del re, posero un velo sulla faccia di Amàn.	8 When the king returned from the garden of the palace to the banquet hall, Haman had thrown himself on the couch on which Esther was reclining; and the king exclaimed, "Will he also violate the queen while she is with me in my own house!" Scarcely had the king spoken when the face of Haman was covered over.
9 Carbonà, uno degli eunuchi, disse alla presenza del re: "Ecco, è stato perfino rizzato in casa di Amàn un palo alto cinquanta cubiti, che Amàn ha fatto preparare per Mardocheo, il quale aveva parlato per il bene del re". Il re disse: "Impiccatevi lui!".	9 Harbona, one of the eunuchs who attended the king, said, "At the house of Haman stands a gibbet fifty cubits high. Haman prepared it for Mordecai, who gave the report that benefited the king." The king answered, "Hang him on it."
10 Così Amàn fu impiccato al palo che aveva preparato per Mardocheo. E l'ira del re si calmò.	10 So they hanged Haman on the gibbet which he had made ready for Mordecai, and the anger of the king abated.
