| 1 In quei giorni Ezechia si ammalò mortalmente. | 3 "Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in thy sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. |

| 6 Aggiungerò alla durata della tua vita quindici anni. Libererò te e questa città dalla mano del re d'Assiria; proteggerò questa città per amore di me e di Davide mio servo". | 6 And I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David's sake." |
7 Isaia disse: "Prendete un impiastro di fichi". Lo presero e lo posero sull'ulcera e il re guarì.
| 7 And Isaiah said, "Bring a cake of figs. And let them take and lay it on the boil, that he may recover." |

| 9 Isaia rispose: "Da parte del Signore questo ti sia come segno che il Signore manterrà la promessa, fatta a te: Vuoi che l'ombra avanzi di dieci gradi oppure che retroceda di dieci gradi?". | 9 And Isaiah said, "This is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?" |
| 10 Ezechia disse: "È facile che l'ombra si allunghi di dieci gradi, non però che torni indietro di dieci gradi". | 10 And Hezekiah answered, "It is an easy thing for the shadow to lengthen ten steps; rather let the shadow go back ten steps." |
11 Il profeta Isaia invocò il Signore e l'ombra tornò indietro per i dieci gradi che essa aveva già scorsi sulla meridiana di Acaz.
| 11 And Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which the sun had declined on the dial of Ahaz. |
| 12 In quel tempo Merodak-Baladan figlio di Baladan, re di Babilonia, mandò lettere e doni a Ezechia, perché aveva saputo che Ezechia era stato malato. | 12 At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick. |
13 Ezechia gioì al loro arrivo. Egli mostrò agli inviati tutta la camera del suo tesoro, l'argento e l'oro, gli aromi e l'olio fino, il suo arsenale e quanto si trovava nei suoi magazzini; non ci fu nulla che Ezechia non mostrasse nella reggia e in tutto il suo regno.
| 13 And Hezekiah welcomed them, and he showed them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his armory, all that was found in his storehouses; there was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them. |
| 14 Allora il profeta Isaia si presentò al re Ezechia e gli domandò: "Che hanno detto quegli uomini e da dove sono venuti a te?". Ezechia rispose: "Sono venuti da una regione lontana, da Babilonia". | 14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say? And whence did they come to you?" And Hezekiah said, "They have come from a far country, from Babylon." |
15 Quegli soggiunse: "Che cosa han visto nella tua reggia?". Ezechia rispose: "Hanno visto quanto si trova nella mia reggia; non c'è nulla nei miei magazzini che io non abbia mostrato loro".
| 15 He said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them." |
| 16 Allora Isaia disse a Ezechia: "Ascolta la parola del Signore! | 16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD: |
| 17 Ecco giorni verranno in cui quanto si trova nella tua reggia e quanto hanno accumulato i tuoi antenati fino ad oggi verrà portato in Babilonia; non vi resterà nulla, dice il Signore. | 17 Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD. |
| 18 Dei figli, che da te saranno nati e che tu avrai generato, alcuni saranno presi e saranno eunuchi nella reggia di Babilonia". | 18 And some of your own sons, who are born to you, shall be taken away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." |
19 Ezechia disse a Isaia: "Buona è la parola del Signore, che mi hai riferita". Egli pensava: "Perché no? Almeno vi saranno pace e sicurezza durante la mia vita".
| 19 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is good." For he thought, "Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?" |
