1 Voici la descendance des fils de Noé: Sem, Kam et Japhet, lesquels engendrèrent des fils après le déluge. | 1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. |
2 Fils de Japhet: Gomer, Magog, les Mèdes, Yavan, Toubal, Méchek, Tiras. | 2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. |
3 Fils de Gomer: Achkénaz, Riphat, Togorma. | 3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. |
4 Fils de Yavan: Élicha, Tarsis, Kittim, les Dananéens. | 4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. |
5 C’est à partir d’eux que se fit la dispersion dans les îles lointaines. Ce sont là les fils de Japhet d’après leurs pays, selon leurs langues, leurs clans et leurs nations. | 5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations. |
6 Fils de Kam: Kouch, Misraïm, Pout, Canaan. | 6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. |
7 Fils de Kouch: Séba, Havila, Sabta, Rama, Sabtéka. Fils de Rama: Chéba, Dédan. | 7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. |
8 Kouch engendra Nemrod qui fut le premier héros sur la terre. | 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. |
9 C’était un vaillant chasseur devant Yahvé. C’est pour cela que l’on dit: “Vaillant chasseur devant Yahvé comme Nemrod.” | 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. |
10 Ceux qui soutenaient son empire étaient: Babel, Érek, et Akkad. Toutes ces villes sont au pays de Chinéar. | 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. |
11 De ce pays sortit Assur, c’est lui qui construisit Ninive, Réhobot-Ir, Kala | 11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, |
12 et Résèn entre Ninive et Kala (c’est une grande ville). | 12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. |
13 Misraïm engendra les gens de Loud, d’Anam, de Léhab, de Naftou, | 13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, |
14 de Patros, de Kaslou et de Kaftor, d’où sont sortis les Philistins. | 14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim. |
15 Canaan engendra Sidon qui fut son premier-né, puis Heth, | 15 And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, |
16 et le Jébusite, l’Amorite, le Guirgachite, | 16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, |
17 le Hivvite, l’Arkite, le Sinite, | 17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, |
18 l’Arvadite, le Sémarite, le Hamatite. Ensuite les clans Cananéens se dispersèrent. | 18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. |
19 La frontière des Cananéens partait de Sidon vers Guérar jusqu’à Gaza, et vers Sodome, Gomorrhe, Adma et Séboyim jusqu’à Lécha. | 19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. |
20 Ce sont là les fils de Kam, selon leurs clans et leurs langues, leurs pays et leurs nations. | 20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. |
21 Sem eut également une descendance. Il est l’ancêtre de tous les fils de Éber et le frère aîné de Japhet. | 21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born. |
22 Fils de Sem: Élam, Assur, Arpakchad, Loud, Aram. | 22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. |
23 Fils d’Aram: Ous, Houl, Guéter et Mach. | 23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. |
24 Arpakchad engendra Chéla et Chéla engendra Éber. | 24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber. |
25 Éber eut deux fils. Le premier s’appelait Péleg, c’est en son temps que la terre fut divisée. Son frère s’appelait Yoktan. | 25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan. |
26 Yoktan engendra Almodad, Chélef, Assarmavet, Yéra, | 26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazar-maveth, and Jerah, |
27 Adoram, Ouzal, Dikla, | 27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, |
28 Obal, Abimaël, Chéba, | 28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba, |
29 Ofir, Havila, Yobab. Ce sont là tous les fils de Yoktan. | 29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan. |
30 Ils habitaient à partir de Mécha en allant vers Séfar, la montagne de l’Orient. | 30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east. |
31 Ce sont les fils de Sem selon leurs clans et leurs langues, leurs pays et leurs nations. | 31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations. |
32 Voilà les descendants de Noé selon leurs lignées et leurs nations. C’est à partir d’eux que les peuples se dispersèrent sur la terre après le déluge. | 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. |
