Première épître aux Corinthiens 15

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Je vous rappelle, frères, l'Evangile que je vous ai annoncé, que vous avez reçu et dans lequelvous demeurez fermes,	1 I want to make quite clear to you, brothers, what the message of the gospel that I preached to you is;you accepted it and took your stand on it,
2 par lequel aussi vous vous sauvez, si vous le gardez tel que je vous l'ai annoncé; sinon, vousauriez cru en vain.	2 and you are saved by it, if you keep to the message I preached to you; otherwise your coming tobelieve was in vain.
3 Je vous ai donc transmis en premier lieu ce que j'avais moi-même reçu, à savoir que le Christest mort pour nos péchés selon les Ecritures,	3 The tradition I handed on to you in the first place, a tradition which I had myself received, was thatChrist died for our sins, in accordance with the scriptures,
4 qu'il a été mis au tombeau, qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour selon les Ecritures,	4 and that he was buried; and that on the third day, he was raised to life, in accordance with thescriptures;
5 qu'il est apparu à Céphas, puis aux Douze.	5 and that he appeared to Cephas; and later to the Twelve;
6 Ensuite, il est apparu à plus de 500 frères à la fois - la plupart d'entre eux demeurent jusqu'àprésent et quelques-uns se sont endormis --	6 and next he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom arestill with us, though some have fal en asleep;
7 ensuite il est apparu à Jacques, puis à tous les apôtres.	7 then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles.
8 Et, en tout dernier lieu, il m'est apparu à moi aussi, comme à l'avorton.	8 Last of al he appeared to me too, as though I was a child born abnormally.
9 Car je suis le moindre des apôtres; je ne mérite pas d'être appelé apôtre, parce que j'aipersécuté l'Eglise de Dieu.	9 For I am the least of the apostles and am not real y fit to be called an apostle, because I had beenpersecuting the Church of God;
10 C'est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce à mon égard n'a pas étéstérile. Loin de là, j'ai travaillé plus qu'eux tous: oh! non pas moi, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.	10 but what I am now, I am through the grace of God, and the grace which was given to me has notbeen wasted. Indeed, I have worked harder than all the others -- not I, but the grace of God which is with me.
11 Bref, eux ou moi, voilà ce que nous prêchons. Et voilà ce que vous avez cru.	11 Anyway, whether it was they or I, this is what we preach and what you believed.
12 Or, si l'on prêche que le Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment certains parmi vouspeuvent-ils dire qu'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts?	12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you be saying that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 S'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts, le Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.	13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ cannot have been raised either,
14 Mais si le Christ n'est pas ressuscité, vide alors est notre message, vide aussi votre foi.	14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is without substance, and so is your faith.
15 Il se trouve même que nous sommes des faux témoins de Dieu, puisque nous avons attestécontre Dieu qu'il a ressuscité le Christ, alors qu'il ne l'a pas ressuscité, s'il est vrai que les morts ne ressuscitentpas.	15 What is more, we have proved to be false witnesses to God, for testifying against God that he raisedChrist to life when he did not raise him -- if it is true that the dead are not raised.
16 Car si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, le Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.	16 For, if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ;
17 Et si le Christ n'est pas ressuscité, vaine est votre foi; vous êtes encore dans vos péchés.	17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is pointless and you have not, after al , been releasedfrom your sins.
18 Alors aussi ceux qui se sont endormis dans le Christ ont péri.	18 In addition, those who have fal en asleep in Christ are utterly lost.
19 Si c'est pour cette vie seulement que nous avons mis notre espoir dans le Christ, noussommes les plus à plaindre de tous les hommes.	19 If our hope in Christ has been for this life only, we are of al people the most pitiable.
20 Mais non; le Christ est ressuscité d'entre les morts, prémices de ceux qui se sont endormis.	20 In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of al who have fal enasleep.
21 Car, la mort étant venue par un homme, c'est par un homme aussi que vient la résurrectiondes morts.	21 As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead.
22 De même en effet que tous meurent en Adam, ainsi tous revivront dans le Christ.	22 Just as al die in Adam, so in Christ al wil be brought to life;
23 Mais chacun à son rang: comme prémices, le Christ, ensuite ceux qui seront au Christ, lorsde son Avènement.	23 but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belongto him.
24 Puis ce sera la fin, lorsqu'il remettra la royauté à Dieu le Père, après avoir détruit toutePrincipauté, Domination et Puissance.	24 After that wil come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolishedevery principality, every ruling force and power.
25 Car il faut qu'il règne jusqu'à ce qu'il ait placé tous ses ennemis sous ses pieds.	25 For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool,
26 Le dernier ennemi détruit, c'est la Mort;	26 and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put al things under his feet.
27 car il a tout mis sous ses pieds. Mais lorsqu'il dira: "Tous est soumis désormais", c'estévidemment à l'exclusion de Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses.	27 But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjectedeverything to him.
28 Et lorsque toutes choses lui auront été soumises, alors le Fils lui-même se soumettra à Celuiqui lui a tout soumis, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.	28 When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself wil be subjected to the One whohas subjected everything to him, so that God may be al in al .
29 S'il en était autrement, que gagneraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si lesmorts ne ressuscitent absolument pas, pourquoi donc se fait-on baptiser pour eux?	29 Otherwise, what are people up to who have themselves baptised on behalf of the dead? If the deadare not raised at al , what is the point of being baptised on their behalf?
30 Et nous-mêmes, pourquoi à toute heure nous exposer au péril?	30 And what about us? Why should we endanger ourselves every hour of our lives?
31 Chaque jour je suis à la mort, aussi vrai, frères, que vous êtes pour moi un titre de gloiredans le Christ Jésus, notre Seigneur.	31 I swear by the pride that I take in you, in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I face death every day.
32 Si c'est dans des vues humaines que j'ai livré combat contre les bêtes à Ephèse, que m'enrevient-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons.	32 If I fought wild animals at Ephesus in a purely human perspective, what had I to gain by it?
33 Ne vous y trompez pas: "Les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes moeurs."	33 If the dead are not going to be raised, then Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall be dead.
34 Dégrisez-vous, comme il sied, et ne péchez pas; car il en est parmi vous qui ignorent tout deDieu. Je le dis à votre honte.	34 So do not let anyone lead you astray, 'Bad company corrupts good ways.' Wake up from your stuporas you should and leave sin alone; some of you have no understanding of God; I tel you this to instil someshame in you.
35 Mais, dira-t-on, comment les morts ressuscitent-ils? Avec quel corps reviennent-ils?	35 Someone may ask: How are dead people raised, and what sort of body do they have when theycome?
36 Insensé! Ce que tu sèmes, toi, ne reprend vie s'il ne meurt.	36 How foolish! What you sow must die before it is given new life;
37 Et ce que tu sèmes, ce n'est pas le corps à venir, mais un simple grain, soit de blé, soit dequelque autre plante;	37 and what you sow is not the body that is to be, but only a bare grain, of wheat I dare say, or someother kind;
38 et Dieu lui donne un corps à son gré, à chaque semence un corps particulier.	38 it is God who gives it the sort of body that he has chosen for it, and for each kind of seed its own kindof body.
39 Toutes les chairs ne sont pas les mêmes, mais autre est la chair des hommes, autre la chairdes bêtes, autre la chair des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons.	39 Not al flesh is the same flesh: there is human flesh; animals have another kind of flesh, birds anotherand fish yet another.
40 Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres, mais autre est l'éclat des célestes, autrecelui des terrestres.	40 Then there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; the heavenly have a splendour of their own, andthe earthly a different splendour.
41 Autre l'éclat du soleil, autre l'éclat de la lune, autre l'éclat des étoiles. Une étoile mêmediffère en éclat d'une étoile.	41 The sun has its own splendour, the moon another splendour, and the stars yet another splendour;and the stars differ among themselves in splendour.
42 Ainsi en va-t-il de la résurrection des morts: on est semé dans la corruption, on ressuscitedans l'incorruptibilité;	42 It is the same too with the resurrection of the dead: what is sown is perishable, but what is raised isimperishable;
43 on est semé dans l'ignominie, on ressuscite dans la gloire; on est semé dans la faiblesse, onressuscite dans la force;	43 what is sown is contemptible but what is raised is glorious; what is sown is weak, but what is raisedis powerful;
44 on est semé corps psychique, on ressuscite corps spirituel. S'il y a un corps psychique, il y aaussi un corps spirituel.	44 what is sown is a natural body, and what is raised is a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, thereis a spiritual body too.
45 C'est ainsi qu'il est écrit: Le premier homme, Adam, a été fait âme vivante; le dernierAdam, esprit vivifiant.	45 So the first man, Adam, as scripture says, became a living soul; and the last Adam has become alife-giving spirit.
46 Mais ce n'est pas le spirituel qui paraît d'abord; c'est le psychique, puis le spirituel.	46 But first came the natural body, not the spiritual one; that came only afterwards.
47 Le premier homme, issu du sol, est terrestre, le second, lui, vient du ciel.	47 The first man, being made of earth, is earthly by nature; the second man is from heaven.
48 Tel a été le terrestre, tels seront aussi les terrestres; tel le céleste, tels seront aussi lescélestes.	48 The earthly man is the pattern for earthly people, the heavenly man for heavenly ones.
49 Et de même que nous avons porté l'image du terrestre, nous porterons aussi l'image ducéleste.	49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so we shal bear the likeness of the heavenlyone.
50 Je l'affirme, frères: la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter du Royaume de Dieu, ni lacorruption hériter de l'incorruptibilité.	50 What I am saying, brothers, is that mere human nature cannot inherit the kingdom of God: what isperishable cannot inherit what is imperishable.
51 Oui, je vais vous dire un mystère: nous ne mourrons pas tous, mais tous nous seronstransformés.	51 Now I am going to tel you a mystery: we are not al going to fal asleep,
52 En un instant, en un clin d'oeil, au son de la trompette finale, car elle sonnera, la trompette,et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons transformés.	52 but we are al going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpetsounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead wil be raised imperishable, and we shal be changed,
53 Il faut, en effet, que cet être corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, que cet être mortel revêtel'immortalité.	53 because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put onimmortality.
54 Quand donc cet être corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité et que cet être mortel aurarevêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira la parole qui est écrite: La mort a été engloutie dans la victoire.	54 And after this perishable nature has put on imperishability and this mortal nature has put onimmortality, then wil the words of scripture come true: Death is swal owed up in victory.
55 Où est-elle, ô mort, ta victoire? Où est-il, ô mort, ton aiguillon?	55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?
56 L'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché, et la force du péché, c'est la Loi.	56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin comes from the Law.
57 Mais grâces soient à Dieu, qui nous donne la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus Christ!	57 Thank God, then, for giving us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
58 Ainsi donc, mes frères bien-aimés, montrez-vous fermes, inébranlables, toujours en progrèsdans l'oeuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre labeur n'est pas vain dans le Seigneur.	58 So, my dear brothers, keep firm and immovable, always abounding in energy for the Lord's work,being sure that in the Lord none of your labours is wasted.
