Livre de Job 12

1 Job prit la parole et dit:	1 Then Job, answering, said:
2 Vraiment, vous êtes la voix du peuple, avec vous mourra la Sagesse.	2 Are you, therefore, alone among men, and will wisdom die with you?
3 Moi aussi, j'ai de l'intelligence, tout comme vous, je ne vous cède en rien, et qui donc ne sait tout cela?	3 And I have a heart just as you also do, and I am not inferior to you. For who is ignorant of these things, which you know?
4 Mais un homme devient la risée de son ami, quand il crie vers Dieu pour avoir une réponse. On semoque du juste intègre.	4 He who is mocked by his friends as I am, will call upon God, and he will listen to him because it is the sincerity of the just that is being mocked.
5 "A l'infortune, le mépris! opinent les gens heureux, un coup de plus à qui chancelle!"	5 The lamp that is despised in the thoughts of the rich is ready for the appointed time.
6 Cependant, les tentes des pillards sont en paix: pleine sécurité pour ceux qui provoquent Dieu et pourcelui qui met Dieu dans son poing!	6 The tabernacles of robbers are numerous, and they provoke God boldly; whereas, it is he who has given all things into their hands.
7 Interroge pourtant le bétail pour t'instruire, les oiseaux du ciel pour t'informer.	7 In truth, ask the mules, and they will teach you, and the birds of the sky, and they will reveal to you.
8 Les reptiles du sol te donneront des leçons, ils te renseigneront, les poissons des mers.	8 Speak with the earth, and it will respond to you, and the fish of the sea will explain.
9 Car lequel ignore, parmi eux tous, que la main de Dieu a fait tout cela!	9 Who is ignorant that the hand of the Lord has made all these things?
10 Il tient en son pouvoir l'âme de tout vivant et le souffle de toute chair d'homme.	10 In his hand is the soul of all the living and the spirit of all the flesh of mankind.
11 L'oreille n'apprécie-t-elle pas les discours, comme le palais goûte les mets?	11 Does not the ear perceive words, and the palate, when eating, perceive flavor?
12 La sagesse est l'affaire des vieillards, le discernement le fait du grand âge.	12 In old age is wisdom, and in length of days is prudence.
13 Mais en Lui résident sagesse et puissance, à lui le conseil et le discernement.	13 With him is wisdom and strength, he has counsel and understanding.
14 S'il détruit, nul ne peut rebâtir, s'il emprisonne quelqu'un, nul n'ouvrira.	14 If he tears down, there is no one who can build up; if he encloses a man, there is no one who can open.
15 S'il retient les eaux, c'est la sécheresse; s'il les relâche, elles bouleversent la terre.	15 If he restrains the waters, everything will dry up; and if he sends them forth, they will subdue the land.
16 En lui vigueur et sagacité, à lui appartiennent l'égaré et celui qui l'égare.	16 With him is strength and wisdom; he knows both the deceiver and he who is deceived.
17 Il rend stupides les conseillers du pays et frappe les juges de démence.	17 He leads advisors to a foolish end and judges to stupidity.
18 Il délie la ceinture des rois et passe une corde à leurs reins.	18 He removes the belt of kings and encircles their waist with a rope.
19 Il fait marcher nu-pieds les prêtres et renverse les puissances établies.	19 He leads away priests in dishonor and displaces nobles,
20 Il ôte la parole aux plus assurés, ravit le discernement aux vieillards.	20 altering the lips of those who speak the truth and sweeping away the teaching of the aged.
21 Il déverse le mépris sur les nobles, dénoue le ceinturon des forts.	21 He pours distain upon the leaders, relieving those who had been oppressed.
22 Il dévoile les profondeurs des ténèbres, amène à la lumière l'ombre épaisse.	22 He reveals the depths of the darkness, and he brings the shadow of death into the light.
23 Il agrandit des nations, puis les ruine: il fait s'étendre des peuples, puis les supprime.	23 He multiplies peoples, and destroys them, and, having been overthrown, he restores them anew.
24 Il ôte l'esprit aux chefs d'un pays, les fait errer dans un désert sans routes,	24 He transforms the heart of the leaders of the people on earth, and misleads those who in vain advance upon the inviolable.
25 tâtonner dans les ténèbres, sans lumière, et tituber comme sous l'ivresse.	25 They will grope as in the darkness, not the light, and he will make them stagger like drunkards.
