| 4 ¿Cómo puedes decirle a tu hermano: “Déjame que te saque la mota del ojo”, teniendo una viga en el tuyo? | 4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is agreat log in your own? |
| 5 Hipócrita: sácate primero la viga del ojo; entonces verás claro y podrás sacar la mota del ojo de tu hermano. | 5 Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearly enough to take thesplinter out of your brother's eye. |
| 6 No deis lo santo a los perros, ni les echéis vuestras perlas a los cerdos; no sea que las pisoteen con sus patas y después se revuelvan para destrozaros. | 6 'Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample themand then turn on you and tear you to pieces. |
| 7 Pedid y se os dará, buscad y encontraréis, llamad y se os abrirá; | 7 'Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. |
| 8 porque todo el que pide recibe, quien busca encuentra y al que llama se le abre. | 8 Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the dooropened. |
| 9 Si a alguno de vosotros le pide su hijo pan, ¿le dará una piedra?; | 9 Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread? |
| 10 y si le pide pescado, ¿le dará una serpiente? | 10 Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish? |
| 11 Pues si vosotros, aun siendo malos, sabéis dar cosas buenas a vuestros hijos, ¡cuánto más vuestro Padre que está en los cielos dará cosas buenas a los que le piden! | 11 If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil yourFather in heaven give good things to those who ask him! |
| 12 Así, pues, todo lo que deseáis que los demás hagan con vosotros, hacedlo vosotros con ellos; pues esta es la Ley y los Profetas. | 12 'So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets. |
| 13 Entrad por la puerta estrecha. Porque ancha es la puerta y espacioso el camino que lleva a la perdición, y muchos entran por ellos. | 13 'Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and manytake it; |

| 16 Por sus frutos los conoceréis. ¿Acaso se cosechan uvas de las zarzas o higos de los cardos? | 16 You wil be able to tel them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? |
| 17 Así, todo árbol sano da frutos buenos; pero el árbol dañado da frutos malos. | 17 In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit. |
| 18 Un árbol sano no puede dar frutos malos, ni un árbol dañado dar frutos buenos. | 18 A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. |
| 19 El árbol que no da fruto bueno se tala y se echa al fuego. | 19 Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire. |
| 20 Es decir, que por sus frutos los conoceréis. | 20 I repeat, you wil be able to tel them by their fruits. |
| 21 No todo el que me dice “Señor, Señor” entrará en el reino de los cielos, sino el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en los cielos. | 21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who wil enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the personwho does the wil of my Father in heaven. |
| 22 Aquel día muchos dirán: “Señor, Señor, ¿no hemos profetizado en tu nombre y en tu nombre hemos echado demonios, y no hemos hecho en tu nombre muchos milagros?”. | 22 When the day comes many wil say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive outdemons in your name, work many miracles in your name?" |
| 23 Entonces yo les declararé: “Nunca os he conocido. Alejaos de mí, los que obráis la iniquidad”. | 23 Then I shal tel them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, al evil doers! |
| 24 El que escucha estas palabras mías y las pone en práctica se parece a aquel hombre prudente que edificó su casa sobre roca. | 24 'Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. |
| 25 Cayó la lluvia, se desbordaron los ríos, soplaron los vientos y descargaron contra la casa; pero no se hundió, porque estaba cimentada sobre roca. | 25 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fal :it was founded on rock. |
| 26 El que escucha estas palabras mías y no las pone en práctica se parece a aquel hombre necio que edificó su casa sobre arena. | 26 But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid manwho built his house on sand. |
| 27 Cayó la lluvia, se desbordaron los ríos, soplaron los vientos y rompieron contra la casa, y se derrumbó. Y su ruina fue grande». | 27 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!' |
| 28 Al terminar Jesús este discurso, la gente estaba admirada de su enseñanza, | 28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on thepeople |
| 29 porque les enseñaba con autoridad y no como sus escribas. | 29 because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes. |
