| 1 El Señor habló así a Moisés: «Di a los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón: “Que ninguno contraiga impureza con el cadáver de alguno de los suyos, | 1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people, |
| 2 a no ser con el de un pariente cercano: la madre, el padre, un hijo, una hija, un hermano, | 2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother, |
| 3 una hermana virgen que viva con él y no haya sido desposada aún; por ella sí puede contraer impureza. | 3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher; |
| 4 Pero por una hermana casada, no debe contraer impureza; quedaría profanado. | 4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself. |
| 5 Los sacerdotes no se raparán la cabeza, ni se recortarán los bordes de la barba, ni se harán incisiones en su cuerpo. | 5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies. |
| 6 Han de ser santos para su Dios y no profanarán el nombre de su Dios, pues son ellos los que ofrecen los alimentos que se han de quemar para el Señor, el alimento de su Dios. Deben ser santos. | 6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy. |
| 7 No tomarán por esposa a una prostituta, ni a una violada, ni a una repudiada por su marido; pues el sacerdote está consagrado a su Dios. | 7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God. |
| 8 Considerarás al sacerdote como cosa santa, porque él es quien ofrece el alimento de tu Dios. Lo tendrás por santo, pues santo soy yo, el Señor, el que los santifico. | 8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy. |
| 9 Si la hija de un sacerdote se prostituye y se profana, a su padre profana; será quemada. | 9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive. |
| 10 El sumo sacerdote, el mayor entre sus hermanos, sobre cuya cabeza fue derramado el óleo de la unción y que recibió la investidura revistiéndose los ornamentos, no llevará desgreñada la cabellera ni se rasgará las vestiduras, | 10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes; |
| 11 ni se acercará a cadáver alguno; ni siquiera por su padre o por su madre se le permite contraer impureza. | 11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother. |
| 12 No saldrá del Santuario, y así no profanará el Santuario de su Dios; pues está consagrado con el óleo de la unción de su Dios. Yo soy el Señor. | 12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh. |
| 13 Tomará por esposa una virgen. | 13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin. |
| 14 No se casará con viuda, ni con repudiada, ni con profanada por prostitución, sino que tomará por esposa una virgen de su parentela. | 14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people: |
| 15 Así no profanará a su descendencia entre su pueblo, pues soy el Señor, el que lo santifico”». | 15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." ' |
| 16 El Señor habló a Moisés: | 16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said: |
| 17 «Dile a Aarón: “Ninguno de tus descendientes, de cualquier generación, que tenga un defecto corporal, podrá acercarse a ofrecer el alimento de su Dios. | 17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity, |
| 18 Ningún hombre que tenga defecto corporal se acercará: ni ciego, ni cojo, ni deforme, ni monstruoso, | 18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed, |
| 19 ni lisiado, ni manco; | 19 or with an injured foot or arm, |
| 20 ni jorobado, ni raquítico, ni con defecto en un ojo, ni sarnoso o tiñoso, ni eunuco. | 20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch. |
| 21 Ningún descendiente de Aarón que tenga defecto corporal puede acercarse a ofrecer las oblaciones quemadas en honor del Señor. Al tener un defecto, no puede acercarse a ofrecer el alimento de su Dios. | 21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God. |
| 22 Podrá comer del alimento de su Dios, de las cosas santísimas y de las santas; | 22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy, |
| 23 mas no podrá traspasar el velo ni acercarse al altar, porque tiene un defecto y profanaría mi Santuario, pues yo soy el Señor, el que los santifico”». | 23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." ' |
| 24 Moisés comunicó esto a Aarón y a sus hijos y a todo Israel. | 24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites. |
