1 Esta era la descendencia de Aarón y de Moisés, cuando Yahveh habló a Moisés en el monte Sinaí.	1 These are the generations of Aaron and Moses, in the day when the Lord spoke to Moses on mount Sinai.
2 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, el primogénito, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.	2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: his firstborn Nadab, then Abihu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, que fueron ungidos sacerdotes, y cuyas manos fueron consagradas para ejercer el sacerdocio.	3 These the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed and whose hands were filled and consecrated in order to exercise the priesthood.
4 Nadab y Abihú murieron delante de Yahveh, al presentar un fuego profano delante de Yahveh en el desierto del Sinaí. Como no tenían hijos, fueron Eleazar e Itamar los que ejercieron el sacerdocio en presencia de su padre Aarón.	4 For Nadab and Abihu died without children, when they offered, in the sight of the Lord, a strange fire, in the desert of Sinai. And so, Eleazar and Ithamar exercised the priesthood in the sight of Aaron, their father.
5 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:	5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
6 «Manda que se acerque la tribu de Leví y ponlos delante del sacerdote Aarón, que estén a su servicio.	6 “Bring forward the tribe of Levi, and cause them to stand in the sight of Aaron the priest, in order to minister to him. And let them keep watch outside,
7 Se encargarán de las obligaciones que incumben a él y a toda la comunidad ante la Tienda del Encuentro, prestando el servicio en la Morada.	7 and let them observe whatever pertains to the ritual for the multitude, in front of the tabernacle of the testimony,
8 Cuidarán de todos los utensilios de la Tienda del Encuentro, de las obligaciones que incumben a los israelitas prestando servicio en la Morada.	8 and let them take care of the vessels of the tabernacle, serving in its ministry.
9 Donarás los levitas a Aarón y a sus hijos en concepto de donados. Le serán donados de parte de los israelitas.	9 And you shall give the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons; for they have been delivered to them by the sons of Israel.
10 A Aarón y a sus hijos los alistarás para que se encarguen de sus funciones sacerdotales. El laico que se acerque, será muerto.»	10 But you shall appoint Aaron and his sons over the service of priesthood. The outsider who approaches to minister shall be put to death.”
11 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:	11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
12 «Mira que he elegido a los levitas de entre los demás israelitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas que abren el seno materno. Los levitas serán para mí.	12 “I have taken the Levites from the sons of Israel. For the Levites, and all the firstborn who open the womb among the sons of Israel, shall be mine.
13 Porque todo primogénito me pertenece. El día en que herí a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, consagré para mí a todos los primogénitos de Israel, tanto de hombre como de ganado. Son para mí. Yo, Yahveh.»	13 For every firstborn is mine. From the time that I struck the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I have sanctified for myself whatever is born first in Israel. From man, even to beast, they are mine. I am the Lord.”
14 Habló Yahveh a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí. Le dijo:	14 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, saying:
15 «Alista a los hijos de Leví por familias y por clanes: alistarás a todo varón de un mes para arriba.»	15 “Number the sons of Levi by the houses of their fathers and their families, every male from one month and above.”
16 Moisés los alistó según la orden de Yahveh, tal como Yahveh se lo había mandado.	16 Moses numbered them, just as the Lord had instructed,
17 Los nombres de los hijos de Leví son: Guersón, Quehab y Merarí.	17 and there were found the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari.
18 Los nombres de los hijos de Ghersón, por clanes, son: Libní y Semeí.	18 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei.
19 Los hijos de Quehat, por clanes: Amram, Yishar, Hebrón y Uzziel;	19 The sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
20 los hijos de Merarí, por clanes: Majlí y Musí. Estos son los clanes de Leví, repartidos por familias.	20 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi.
21 De Guesón procedían el clan libnita y el clan semeíta: ésos son los clanes guersonitas.	21 From Gershon were two families: the Libnites, and the Shimeites.
22 El total de los alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 7.500.	22 The people of these were numbered, of the male sex, from one month and above: seven thousand five hundred.
23 Los clanes guersonitas acampaban detrás de la Morada, al poniente.	23 These shall encamp behind the tabernacle, toward the west,
24 El principal de la casa paterna de Guersón era Elyasaf, hijo de Lael.	24 under the leader Eliasaph the son of Lael.
25 Los hijos de Guersón estaban encargados, en la Tienda del Encuentro, de la Morada, de la Tienda, de su toldo y del tapiz de entrada a la Tienda del Encuentro;	25 And they shall keep watch over the tabernacle of the covenant:
26 del cortinaje del atrio y de la cortina de entrada al atrio que rodea la Morada y el altar, y de las cuerdas necesarias para todo su servicio.	26 the tabernacle itself, and its covering; the tent that is drawn before the doors of the covering of the covenant; and the curtains of the atrium; likewise, the tent that is suspended at the entrance of the atrium of the tabernacle; and whatever pertains to the ritual of the altar; the cords of the tabernacle and all its implements.
27 De Quehat procedían el clan amramita, el clan yisharita, el clan hebronita y el clan uzzielita: ésos son los clanes quehatitas.	27 The kinship of Kohath includes the peoples of the Amramites and Izharites and Hebronites and Uzzielites. These are the families of the Kohathites, having been counted by their names,
28 Contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 8.300. Tenían a su cargo el servicio del santuario.	28 all those of the male gender, from one month and above: eight thousand six hundred. They shall keep watch over the Sanctuary,
29 Los clanes quehatitas acampaban al lado meridional de la Morada.	29 and they shall encamp toward the south side.
30 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes quehatitas era Elisafán, hijo de Uzziel.	30 And their leader shall be Elisaphan the son of Uzziel.
31 A su cargo estaban el arca, la mesa, el candelabro, los altares, los objetos sagrados que se usan en el culto, el velo y todo su servicio.	31 And they shall take care of the ark, and the table and the lampstand, the altars and the vessels of the Sanctuary, by which they minister, and the veil, and all the articles of this kind.
32 El principal de los principales de Leví era Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón. Ejercía la supervisión de todos los encargados del santuario.	32 But the leader of the leaders of the Levites, Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, shall be over those who watch over the care of the Sanctuary.
33 De Merarí, el clan majlita y el clan musita: ésos eran los clanes meraritas .	33 And truly, from Merari are the peoples of the Mahlites and Mushites, having been counted by their names,
34 Sus alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 6.200.	34 all those of the male gender, from one month and above: six thousand two hundred.
35 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes meraritas era Suriel, hijo de Abijayil. Acampaban al lado septentrional de la Morada.	35 Their leader is Suriel the son of Abihaiel. They shall make camp on the north side.
36 A los hijos de Merarí les estaba encomendado el cuidado de los tableros de la Morada, de sus travesaños, postes y basas, de todos sus utensilios y todo su servicio;	36 Under their care shall be the panels of the tabernacle, and the bars, and the columns with their bases, and all the things which pertain to service of this kind,
37 y de los postes que rodean el atrio, de sus basas, clavazón y cuerdas.	37 and the columns of the surrounding atrium with their bases, and the tent pegs with their cords.
38 Acampaban al este, frente a la Morada, delante de la Tienda del Encuentro hacia oriente, Moisés y Aarón con sus hijos que estaban encargados del santuario en nombre de los israelitas. Cualquier laico que se acercara, sería muerto.	38 Moses and Aaron, with their sons, shall make camp before the tabernacle of the covenant, that is, on the east side, holding the custody of the Sanctuary in the midst of the sons of Israel. Whatever foreigner approaches it shall die.
39 El total de levitas alistados, de los que registró Moisés por clanes, siguiendo la orden de Yahveh, de todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 22.000.	39 All the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by their families according to the precept of the Lord, of the male gender, from one month and above, were twenty-two thousand.
40 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Registra a todos los primogénitos varones de los israelitas, de un mes para arriba, y anota sus nombres.	40 And the Lord said to Moses: “Number the firstborn of the male sex from the sons of Israel, from one month and above, and you shall take their total.
41 Luego, tomas a los levitas para mí, Yahveh, en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas; y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los israelitas.»	41 And you shall bring the Levites to me, in place of all the firstborn of the sons of Israel, and you shall bring their cattle to me, in place of all the firstborn of the cattle of the sons of Israel. I am the Lord.”
42 Moisés registró, según le había ordenado Yahveh, a todos los primogénitos de los israelitas.	42 Moses took a census, just as the Lord had instructed, of the firstborn of the sons of Israel.
43 Y resultó ser el total de los primogénitos varones, contando los nombres desde la edad de un mes para arriba, según el censo, 22.273.	43 And the males by their names, from one month and above, were twenty-two thousand two hundred seventy-three.
44 Habló entonces Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:	44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
45 «Toma a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de su ganado; los levitas serán míos, yo Yahveh.	45 “Take the Levites, in place of the firstborn of the sons of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites, in place of their cattle, and so the Levites shall be mine. I am the Lord.
46 Por el rescate de los 273 primogénitos de los israelitas que exceden del número de los levitas,	46 But for the price of the two hundred and seventy-three, which exceed the number of the Levites compared to the number of firstborn of the sons of Israel,
47 tomarás cinco siclos por cabeza, en siclos del santuario, a razón de veinte óbolos por siclo.	47 you shall take five shekels for each head, by the measure of the Sanctuary. A shekel has twenty obols.
48 La plata se la entregarás a Aarón y a sus hijos, por el rescate de los que sobrepasan el número.»	48 And you shall give the money to Aaron and his sons as the price of those that are in excess.”
49 Moisés tomó la plata del rescate de los que pasaban del número de los rescatados por los levitas.	49 Therefore, Moses took the money for those that were in excess, and whom they had redeemed from the Levites
50 Tomó la plata de los primogénitos de Israel: 1.365 siclos, en siclos del santuario.	50 in place of the firstborn of the sons of Israel: one thousand three hundred sixty-five shekels, according to the weight of the Sanctuary.
51 Y entregó Moisés la plata del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden de Yahveh, como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés.	51 And he gave it to Aaron and his sons, according to the word by which the Lord had instructed him.
