BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Esta era la descendencia de Aarón y de Moisés, cuando Yahveh habló a Moisés en el monte Sinaí.	1 These were the descendants of Aaron and Moses, at the time when Yahweh spoke to Moses onMount Sinai.
2 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, el primogénito, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.	2 These were the names of Aaron's sons: Nadab the eldest, then Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
3 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, que fueron ungidos sacerdotes, y cuyas manos fueron consagradas para ejercer el sacerdocio.	3 Such were the names of Aaron's sons, priests anointed and invested with the powers of thepriesthood.
4 Nadab y Abihú murieron delante de Yahveh, al presentar un fuego profano delante de Yahveh en el desierto del Sinaí. Como no tenían hijos, fueron Eleazar e Itamar los que ejercieron el sacerdocio en presencia de su padre Aarón.	4 Nadab and Abihu died in Yahweh's presence, in the desert of Sinai, when they offered unauthorisedfire before Yahweh. They left no children and so it fel to Eleazar and Ithamar to exercise the priesthood undertheir father Aaron.
5 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:	5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
6 «Manda que se acerque la tribu de Leví y ponlos delante del sacerdote Aarón, que estén a su servicio.	6 'Muster the tribe of Levi and put it at the disposal of the priest Aaron: they must be at his service.
7 Se encargarán de las obligaciones que incumben a él y a toda la comunidad ante la Tienda del Encuentro, prestando el servicio en la Morada.	7 They wil undertake the duties incumbent on him and the whole community before the Tent of Meeting,in serving the Dwel ing,
8 Cuidarán de todos los utensilios de la Tienda del Encuentro, de las obligaciones que incumben a los israelitas prestando servicio en la Morada.	8 and they will be in charge of al the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting and undertake the dutiesincumbent on the Israelites in serving the Dwel ing.
9 Donarás los levitas a Aarón y a sus hijos en concepto de donados. Le serán donados de parte de los israelitas.	9 You wil present the Levites to Aaron and his sons as men dedicated; they wil be given to him by theIsraelites.
10 A Aarón y a sus hijos los alistarás para que se encarguen de sus funciones sacerdotales. El laico que se acerque, será muerto.»	10 'You will register Aaron and his sons, who wil carry out their priestly duty. But any unauthorisedperson who comes near must be put to death.'
11 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:	11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
12 «Mira que he elegido a los levitas de entre los demás israelitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas que abren el seno materno. Los levitas serán para mí.	12 'Look, I myself have chosen the Levites from the Israelites instead of all the first-born, those whoemerge first from the womb in Israel; the Levites therefore belong to me.
13 Porque todo primogénito me pertenece. El día en que herí a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, consagré para mí a todos los primogénitos de Israel, tanto de hombre como de ganado. Son para mí. Yo, Yahveh.»	13 For every first-born belongs to me. On the day when I struck down al the first-born in Egypt, Iconsecrated al the first-born in Israel, human and animal, to be my own. They are mine, Yahweh's.'
14 Habló Yahveh a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí. Le dijo:	14 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai and said:
15 «Alista a los hijos de Leví por familias y por clanes: alistarás a todo varón de un mes para arriba.»	15 'You must take a census of Levi's descendants by families and clans; al the males of the age of onemonth and over wil be counted.'
16 Moisés los alistó según la orden de Yahveh, tal como Yahveh se lo había mandado.	16 At Yahweh's word Moses took a census of them, as Yahweh had ordered.
17 Los nombres de los hijos de Leví son: Guersón, Quehab y Merarí.	17 These were the names of Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
18 Los nombres de los hijos de Ghersón, por clanes, son: Libní y Semeí.	18 These were the names of Gershon's sons by their clans: Libni and Shimei;
19 Los hijos de Quehat, por clanes: Amram, Yishar, Hebrón y Uzziel;	19 Kohath's sons by their clans: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel;
20 los hijos de Merarí, por clanes: Majlí y Musí. Estos son los clanes de Leví, repartidos por familias.	20 Merari's sons by their clans: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi, grouped by families.
21 De Guesón procedían el clan libnita y el clan semeíta: ésos son los clanes guersonitas.	21 From Gershon were descended the Libnite and Shimeite clans; these were the Gershonite clans.
22 El total de los alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 7.500.	22 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to seven thousand five hundred.
23 Los clanes guersonitas acampaban detrás de la Morada, al poniente.	23 The Gershonite clans pitched their camp behind the Dwelling, on the west side.
24 El principal de la casa paterna de Guersón era Elyasaf, hijo de Lael.	24 The leader of the House of Gershon was Eliasaph son of Lael.
25 Los hijos de Guersón estaban encargados, en la Tienda del Encuentro, de la Morada, de la Tienda, de su toldo y del tapiz de entrada a la Tienda del Encuentro;	25 As regards the Tent of Meeting, the Gershonites had charge of the Dwel ing, the Tent and itscovering, the screen for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,

27 De Quehat procedían el clan amramita, el clan yisharita, el clan hebronita y el clan uzzielita: ésos son los clanes quehatitas.	27 From Kohath were descended the Amramite, Izharite, Hebronite and Uzzielite clans; these were theKohathite clans.
28 Contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 8.300. Tenían a su cargo el servicio del santuario.	28 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to eight thousand three hundred.They were in charge of the sanctuary.
29 Los clanes quehatitas acampaban al lado meridional de la Morada.	29 The Kohathite clans pitched their camp on the south side of the Dwel ing.
30 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes quehatitas era Elisafán, hijo de Uzziel.	30 The leader of the house of the Kohathite clans was Elizaphan son of Uzziel.
31 A su cargo estaban el arca, la mesa, el candelabro, los altares, los objetos sagrados que se usan en el culto, el velo y todo su servicio.	31 They were in charge of the ark, the table, the lamp-stand, the altars, the sacred vessels used in theliturgy, and the curtain with al its fittings.
32 El principal de los principales de Leví era Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón. Ejercía la supervisión de todos los encargados del santuario.	32 The chief of the Levite leaders was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest. He supervised the peopleresponsible for the sanctuary.
33 De Merarí, el clan majlita y el clan musita: ésos eran los clanes meraritas .	33 From Merari were descended the Mahlite and Mushite clans; these were the Merarite clans.
34 Sus alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 6.200.	34 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to six thousand two hundred.
35 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes meraritas era Suriel, hijo de Abijayil. Acampaban al lado septentrional de la Morada.	35 The leader of the House of the Merarite clans was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They pitched their camp onthe north side of the Dwel ing.
36 A los hijos de Merarí les estaba encomendado el cuidado de los tableros de la Morada, de sus travesaños, postes y basas, de todos sus utensilios y todo su servicio;	36 The Merarites were in charge of the framework of the Dwelling, with its crossbars, poles, sockets andal its accessories and fittings,
37 y de los postes que rodean el atrio, de sus basas, clavazón y cuerdas.	37 and also the poles round the court, with their sockets, pegs and cords.
38 Acampaban al este, frente a la Morada, delante de la Tienda del Encuentro hacia oriente, Moisés y Aarón con sus hijos que estaban encargados del santuario en nombre de los israelitas. Cualquier laico que se acercara, sería muerto.	38 Final y, on the east side, in front of the Dwel ing, in front of the Tent of Meeting, towards the east, wasthe camp of Moses and Aaron and his sons, who had charge of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyunauthorised person coming near was to be put to death.
39 El total de levitas alistados, de los que registró Moisés por clanes, siguiendo la orden de Yahveh, de todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 22.000.	39 The total number of male Levites of the age of one month and over, whom Moses counted by clansas Yahweh had ordered, came to twenty-two thousand.
40 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Registra a todos los primogénitos varones de los israelitas, de un mes para arriba, y anota sus nombres.	40 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Take a census of al the first-born of the Israelites, al the males from the ageof one month and over; take a census of them by name.
41 Luego, tomas a los levitas para mí, Yahveh, en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas; y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los israelitas.»	41 You will then present the Levites to me, Yahweh, instead of Israel, and similarly the Levites' cattleinstead of the first-born cattle of the Israelites.'
42 Moisés registró, según le había ordenado Yahveh, a todos los primogénitos de los israelitas.	42 As Yahweh ordered, Moses took a census of al the first-born of the Israelites.
43 Y resultó ser el total de los primogénitos varones, contando los nombres desde la edad de un mes para arriba, según el censo, 22.273.	43 The total count, by name, of the first-born from the age of one month and over came to twenty-twothousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44 Habló entonces Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:	44 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said:
45 «Toma a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de su ganado; los levitas serán míos, yo Yahveh.	45 'Take the Levites instead of al the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle instead of theircattle; the Levites will be mine, Yahweh's.
46 Por el rescate de los 273 primogénitos de los israelitas que exceden del número de los levitas,	46 For the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites in excess of thenumber of Levites,
47 tomarás cinco siclos por cabeza, en siclos del santuario, a razón de veinte óbolos por siclo.	47 you wil take five shekels for each, by the sanctuary shekel, at twenty gerah to the shekel;
48 La plata se la entregarás a Aarón y a sus hijos, por el rescate de los que sobrepasan el número.»	48 you wil then give this money to Aaron and his sons as the ransom for the extra number.'
49 Moisés tomó la plata del rescate de los que pasaban del número de los rescatados por los levitas.	49 Moses took the ransom money for the extra ones unransomed by the Levites;
50 Tomó la plata de los primogénitos de Israel: 1.365 siclos, en siclos del santuario.	50 he took the money for the first-born of the Israelites: one thousand three hundred and sixty-fiveshekels, by the sanctuary shekel;
51 Y entregó Moisés la plata del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden de Yahveh, como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés.	51 and Moses then handed over their ransom money to Aaron and his sons, at Yahweh's bidding, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
