Romans 12

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 I urge you, then, brothers, remembering the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, dedicated and acceptable to God; that is the kind of worship for you, as sensible people.	1 Vi esorto dunque, fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, a offrire i vostri corpi come un sacrificio vivente, santo, gradito a Dio, come vostro culto spirituale.
2 Do not model your behaviour on the contemporary world, but let the renewing of your mindstransform you, so that you may discern for yourselves what is the wil of God -- what is good and acceptable andmature.	2 Non uniformatevi al mondo presente, ma trasformatevi continuamente nel rinnovamento della vostra coscienza, in modo che possiate discernere che cosa Dio vuole da voi, cos'è buono, a lui gradito e perfetto.
3 And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself onbeing better than you real y are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to eachone his measure of faith.	3 Dico infatti, per la grazia a me concessa, a ciascuno che si trova tra voi, di non sovraestimarsi più del giusto, ma di nutrire una stima saggia di sé, secondo la misura di fede che Dio ha assegnato a ciascuno.
4 Just as each of us has various parts in one body, and the parts do not al have the same function:	4 Come infatti in un solo corpo troviamo molte membra e le varie membra non hanno tutte le stesse funzioni,
5 in the same way, al of us, though there are so many of us, make up one body in Christ, and asdifferent parts we are al joined to one another.	5 così noi, pur essendo molti, formiamo in Cristo un unico corpo, ciascuno membro degli altri.
6 Then since the gifts that we have differ according to the grace that was given to each of us: if it is agift of prophecy, we should prophesy as much as our faith tells us;	6 Siamo in possesso di doni differenti secondo la benevolenza riversata su di noi, sia che si tratti di profezia, secondo la proporzione della fede;
7 if it is a gift of practical service, let us devote ourselves to serving; if it is teaching, to teaching;	7 sia che si tratti del ministero, per servire; o di chi insegna, per l'insegnamento;
8 if it is encouraging, to encouraging. When you give, you should give generously from the heart; if youare put in charge, you must be conscientious; if you do works of mercy, let it be because you enjoy doing them.	8 o di chi esorta, per l'esortazione. Chi distribuisce elargizioni, lo faccia con semplicità; chi dirige, lo faccia con sollecitudine; chi esercita la misericordia, lo faccia con gioia.
9 Let love be without any pretence. Avoid what is evil; stick to what is good.	9 L'amore è incompatibile con l'ipocrisia. Aborrite il male, aderite con tutte le forze al bene.
10 In brotherly love let your feelings of deep affection for one another come to expression and regardothers as more important than yourself.	10 Amatevi cordialmente con l'amore di fratelli, prevenitevi vicendevolmente nella stima;
11 In the service of the Lord, work not halfheartedly but with conscientiousness and an eager spirit.	11 siate solleciti e non pigri, ferventi nello spirito, servite il Signore;
12 Be joyful in hope, persevere in hardship; keep praying regularly;	12 abbiate gioia nella speranza, siate costanti nelle avversità, assidui nella preghiera;
13 share with any of God's holy people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.	13 prendete parte alle necessità dei santi, praticate a gara l'ospitalità.
14 Bless your persecutors; never curse them, bless them.	14 Invocate benedizioni su chi vi perseguita, benedizioni e non maledizioni;
15 Rejoice with others when they rejoice, and be sad with those in sorrow.	15 prendete parte alla gioia di chi gioisce, al pianto di chi piange;
16 Give the same consideration to al others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humblepeople on their own terms. Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.	16 abbiate, gli uni per gli altri, gli stessi pensieri e sollecitudini; non aspirate a cose eccelse, ma lasciatevi attrarre dalle cose umili. Non siate saggi presso voi stessi,
17 Never pay back evil with evil, but bear in mind the ideals that all regard with respect.	17 non restituite a nessuno male per male. Studiatevi di compiere il bene davanti a tutti gli uomini.
18 As much as possible, and to the utmost of your ability, be at peace with everyone.	18 Se è possibile, per quanto dipende da voi, siate in pace con tutti gli uomini.
19 Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends, to the Retribution. As scripture says:Vengeance is mine -- I wil pay them back, the Lord promises.	19 Non vi vendicate, carissimi, ma cedete il posto all'ira divina; sta scritto infatti: A me la vendetta, io darò ciò che spetta, dice il Signore.
20 And more: If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this,you wil be heaping red-hot coals on his head.	20 Se il tuo nemico ha fame, dàgli del cibo; se ha sete, dàgli da bere: facendo così, accumulerai carboni accesi sul suo capo.
21 Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.	21 Non lasciarti vincere dal male, ma vinci il male col bene.
