Luke 24

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 On the first day of the week, at the first sign of dawn, they went to the tomb with the spices they hadprepared.	1 Le premier jour de la semaine, aux premières lueurs de l’aube, elles vont à la tombe emportant les aromates qu’elles ont préparés.
2 They found that the stone had been rol ed away from the tomb,	2 C’est alors qu’elles font une découverte: la pierre a été roulée de devant la tombe.
3 but on entering they could not find the body of the Lord Jesus.	3 Elles y pénètrent et ne trouvent pas le corps du Seigneur Jésus.
4 As they stood there puzzled about this, two men in bril iant clothes suddenly appeared at their side.	4 Et comme elles sont là, ne sachant que penser, deux hommes se présentent à elles en habits éblouissants.
5 Terrified, the women bowed their heads to the ground. But the two said to them, 'Why look among thedead for someone who is alive?	5 Saisies de crainte, elles baissent leur visage vers la terre; mais ils leur disent: "Pourquoi chercher le Vivant parmi les morts?
6 He is not here; he has risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee:	6 Il n’est pas ici, il est ressuscité. Souvenez-vous de ce qu’il vous a dit quand il était encore en Galilée:
7 that the Son of man was destined to be handed over into the power of sinful men and be crucified, andrise again on the third day.'	7 Il faut que le Fils de l’Homme soit livré aux mains d’hommes pécheurs, qu’il soit mis en croix et qu’il ressuscite le troisième jour.”
8 And they remembered his words.	8 À ce moment elles se souvinrent de ses paroles.
9 And they returned from the tomb and told al this to the Eleven and to al the others.	9 De retour de la tombe, elles racontèrent tout cela aux Onze et à tous les autres;
10 The women were Mary of Magdala, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. And the other womenwith them also told the apostles,	10 c’étaient Marie de Magdala, Jeanne, et Marie mère de Jacques. Les autres femmes qui étaient avec elles disaient la même chose aux apôtres,
11 but this story of theirs seemed pure nonsense, and they did not believe them.	11 mais ils ne les crurent pas: toute cette histoire leur paraissait pure fantaisie.
12 Peter, however, went off to the tomb, running. He bent down and looked in and saw the linen clothsbut nothing else; he then went back home, amazed at what had happened.	12 Pierre cependant se lève, il court à la tombe, se penche et voit les linges, rien d’autre. Il rentre chez lui en se demandant ce qui a pu arriver.
13 Now that very same day, two of them were on their way to a vil age cal ed Emmaus, seven miles fromJerusalem,	13 Ce même jour, deux d’entre eux se rendaient à un village du nom d’Emmaüs, éloigné de 60 stades de Jérusalem,
14 and they were talking together about al that had happened.	14 et ils parlaient entre eux de tous ces événements.
15 And it happened that as they were talking together and discussing it, Jesus himself came up andwalked by their side;	15 Tandis qu’ils parlaient et discutaient entre eux, voici que Jésus lui-même s’approcha et fit route avec eux.
16 but their eyes were prevented from recognising him.	16 Mais leurs yeux étaient empêchés de le reconnaître.
17 He said to them, 'What are all these things that you are discussing as you walk along?' They stopped,their faces downcast.	17 Et voilà qu’il leur dit: "Mais quelle est donc cette affaire dont vous discutez tout en marchant?” Ils s’arrêtent, l’air découragé,
18 Then one of them, called Cleopas, answered him, 'You must be the only person staying in Jerusalemwho does not know the things that have been happening there these last few days.'	18 et l’un d’eux nommé Cléopas lui répond: "Tu es bien le seul homme de passage à Jérusalem à ignorer ce qui s’est passé ici ces derniers jours.”
19 He asked, 'What things?' They answered, 'Al about Jesus of Nazareth, who showed himself aprophet powerful in action and speech before God and the whole people;	19 Il leur dit: "Quoi donc?” Ils répondent: "Toute l’affaire de Jésus de Nazareth! “C’était un prophète puissant en œuvres et en paroles: Dieu en est témoin, et tout le peuple également;
20 and how our chief priests and our leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and had himcrucified.	20 mais nos grands prêtres et nos chefs l’ont renié, ils l’ont condamné à mort et l’ont mis en croix.
21 Our own hope had been that he would be the one to set Israel free. And this is not al : two whole dayshave now gone by since it al happened;	21 Et nous, nous pensions que c’était lui qui délivrerait Israël. Mais tout est fait et c’est déjà le troisième jour.
22 and some women from our group have astounded us: they went to the tomb in the early morning,	22 “C’est vrai que quelques femmes de notre groupe nous ont déroutés. Quand elles sont allées au tombeau à l’aube,
23 and when they could not find the body, they came back to tel us they had seen a vision of angelswho declared he was alive.	23 elles n’ont pas trouvé son corps; elles sont venues nous dire qu’elles ont eu une vision avec des anges qui disent qu’il est vivant.
24 Some of our friends went to the tomb and found everything exactly as the women had reported, but ofhim they saw nothing.'	24 Certains des nôtres sont allés au tombeau et ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes avaient dit, mais lui, ils ne l’ont pas vu.”
25 Then he said to them, 'You foolish men! So slow to believe al that the prophets have said!	25 Alors il leur dit: "Hommes sans intelligence, cœurs lents à croire ce qu’ont dit les prophètes!
26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer before entering into his glory?'	26 Le Messie ne devait-il pas souffrir pour entrer dans sa gloire?”
27 Then, starting with Moses and going through al the prophets, he explained to them the passagesthroughout the scriptures that were about himself.	27 Et il leur fit l’interprétation de ce qui le concernait dans toutes les Écritures, en commençant par Moïse et ensuite tous les prophètes.
28 When they drew near to the vil age to which they were going, he made as if to go on;	28 Lorsqu’ils approchèrent du village où ils se rendaient, il fit semblant d’aller plus loin.
29 but they pressed him to stay with them saying, 'It is nearly evening, and the day is almost over.' So hewent in to stay with them.	29 Mais ils firent pression sur lui: "Reste avec nous, le soir tombe et déjà le jour baisse.” Il entra donc pour s’arrêter avec eux.
30 Now while he was with them at table, he took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it andhanded it to them.	30 Comme il était à table avec eux, il prit le pain, il le bénit et, après l’avoir rompu, il le leur donna.
31 And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight.	31 Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent et ils le reconnurent; mais lui déjà était devenu invisible à leurs yeux.
32 Then they said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road andexplained the scriptures to us?'	32 Ils se disaient l’un à l’autre: "Notre cœur n’était-il pas tout brûlant en nous quand il nous parlait sur le chemin et nous expliquait les Écritures?”
33 They set out that instant and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven assembled togetherwith their companions,	33 À l’heure même ils se levèrent et retournèrent à Jérusalem où ils trouvèrent rassemblés les Onze et ceux de leur groupe.
34 who said to them, 'The Lord has indeed risen and has appeared to Simon.'	34 Ceux-ci leur dirent: "En vérité le Seigneur est ressuscité, il est apparu à Simon.”
35 Then they told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised him at thebreaking of bread.	35 Et eux de leur côté commencèrent à raconter ce qui s’était passé sur le chemin, et comment ils l’avaient reconnu à la fraction du pain.
36 They were still talking about al this when he himself stood among them and said to them, 'Peace bewith you!'	36 Ils parlaient encore lorsque Jésus lui-même se trouva au milieu d’eux (et leur dit: "Paix à vous!”)
37 In a state of alarm and fright, they thought they were seeing a ghost.	37 Il y eut un moment d’épouvante: saisis de peur, ils croyaient voir un esprit.
38 But he said, 'Why are you so agitated, and why are these doubts stirring in your hearts?	38 Alors il leur dit: "Pourquoi ce trouble, pourquoi de telles idées vous viennent-elles à l’esprit?
39 See by my hands and my feet that it is I myself. Touch me and see for yourselves; a ghost has noflesh and bones as you can see I have.'	39 Voyez mes mains et mes pieds: oui, c’est moi. Touchez-moi et regardez: un esprit n’a ni chair ni os comme vous voyez que j’en ai.”
40 And as he said this he showed them his hands and his feet.	40 En disant cela il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.
41 Their joy was so great that they stil could not believe it, as they were dumbfounded; so he said tothem, 'Have you anything here to eat?'	41 Et comme, dans leur joie et leur étonnement, ils hésitaient encore à croire, il leur dit: "Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger?”
42 And they offered him a piece of gril ed fish,	42 Alors ils lui donnent une part de poisson grillé (et une portion de miel),
43 which he took and ate before their eyes.	43 il le prend et le mange devant eux.
44 Then he told them, 'This is what I meant when I said, while I was stil with you, that everything writtenabout me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets and in the Psalms, was destined to be fulfilled.'	44 Jésus leur dit: "Rappelez-vous mes paroles lorsque j’étais encore avec vous pour vous parler: il faut que s’accomplisse tout ce qui a été écrit à mon sujet dans la loi de Moïse, les Prophètes et les Psaumes.”
45 He then opened their minds to understand the scriptures,	45 Alors il leur ouvrit l’intelligence pour qu’ils comprennent les Écritures.
46 and he said to them, 'So it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from thedead,	46 Il leur dit: "Vous voyez, c’était dans l’Écriture: le Messie devait souffrir et ressusciter d’entre les morts le troisième jour.
47 and that, in his name, repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to al nations,beginning from Jerusalem.	47 Et il faut ensuite que la conversion et le pardon des péchés soient proclamés en son nom à toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem.
48 You are witnesses to this.	48 De cela vous êtes témoins.
49 'And now I am sending upon you what the Father has promised. Stay in the city, then, until you areclothed with the power from on high.'	49 “De mon côté je vais envoyer sur vous ce que mon Père a promis; restez en ville jusqu’à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la puissance d’en haut.”
50 Then he took them out as far as the outskirts of Bethany, and raising his hands he blessed them.	50 Jésus les conduisit jusque vers Béthanie. Là il éleva les mains et les bénit;
51 Now as he blessed them, he withdrew from them and was carried up to heaven.	51 et tandis qu’il les bénissait il s’éloigna d’eux, (emporté dans le ciel. 52 Ils se prosternèrent devant lui.) Puis ils revinrent à Jérusalem en grande joie,
52 They worshipped him and then went back to Jerusalem ful of joy;
53 and they were continually in the Temple praising God.	53 et sans cesse ils étaient dans le Temple à louer Dieu.
