NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 As he was leaving the Temple one of his disciples said to him, 'Master, look at the size of thosestones! Look at the size of those buildings!'	1 E mentre usciva dal tempio, uno dei suoi discepoli gli disse: Maestro, guarda che pietre, che fabbrica!
2 And Jesus said to him, 'You see these great buildings? Not a single stone wil be left on another;everything wil be pul ed down.'	2 Ma Gesù gli rispose: Vedi In questi grandi edifici? Non ri­marrà pietra su pietra che non sia diroccata.
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrewquestioned him when they were by themselves,	3 E mentre egli se­deva sul monte degli Ulivi, di faccia al tempio, Pietro, Giaco­mo e Giovanni e Andrea gii do­mandarono in disparte:
4 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be that it is all about to take place?'	4 Spiega­ci, quando accadranno queste cose e qual ne sarà il segno quan­do tutto ciò sarà per effettuarsi?
5 Then Jesus began to tel them, 'Take care that no one deceives you.	5 E Gesù prese a dir loro: Ba­date che nessuno vi seduca.
6 Many wil come using my name and saying, "I am he," and they wil deceive many.	6 Perchè molti verranno in nome mio a dire: Son io, e sedurranno mol­ti.
7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed; this is something that must happen,but the end wil not be yet.	7 Quando poi sentirete guer­re e rumori di guerre, non te­mete, è necessario che ciò avven­ga, ma non sarà ancora la fine.
8 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be earthquakes in variousplaces; there wil be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.	8 Perchè si solleverà popolo con­tro popolo, e regno contro regno, e ci saranno dei terremoti in va­ri luoghi e carestie. Questo è il principio dei dolori.
9 'Be on your guard: you wil be handed over to sanhedrins; you wil be beaten in synagogues; and you wil be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them,	9 Ma voi ba­date a voi stessi, perchè vi consegneranno ai Sinedrii, e sarete flagellati nelle Sinagoghe e sarete per causa mia fatti comparire davanti ai presidi ed ai re della terra, a rendere la testimonianza dinanzi a loro.
10 since the gospel must first be proclaimed to al nations.	10 Ma prima bisogna che il Vangelo sia predicato intutte le nazioni.
11 'And when you are taken to be handed over, do not worry beforehand about what to say; no, saywhatever is given to you when the time comes, because it is not you who wil be speaking; it is the Holy Spirit.	11 E quando vi condurranno ai tribunali, non vi preoccupate di quel che avrete a dire, ma quello che in quel punto vi sarà dato, quello dite; perchè non siete voi che parlate, ma lo Spirito Santo.
12 Brother wil betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	12 E il fratello darà a morte il fratello, il padre il figlio, e i figli si rivolteranno contro i genitori e li faranno morire.
13 You wil be universal y hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	13 E sarete in odio a tutti per il mio nome. Ma chi avrà perseverato sino alla fine si salverà.
14 'When you see the appal ing abomination set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand),then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;	14 Quando poi vedrete l'abominazione della desolazione posta dove non dovrebbe stare (chi legge intenda) allora quanti sono in Giudea fuggano ai monti;
15 if a man is on the housetop, he must not come down or go inside to col ect anything from his house;	15 chi è sulla terrazza non scenda nè entri in casa per prendere qualche cosa;
16 if a man is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.	16 chi sarà nel campo non torni indietro a prendere la veste.
17 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	17 Guai alle gravide e a quelle che allatteranno in quei giorni!
18 Pray that this may not be in winter.	18 E pregate che ciò non avvenga d'inverno;
19 For in those days there will be great distress, unparalleled since God created the world, and such aswil never be again.	19 perchè quei giorni saranno di tali tribolazioni quali mai furono da principio del mondo, che Dio ha creato fino ad ora, nè mai più saranno.
20 And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no human being would have survived; but he did shortenthe time, for the sake of the elect whom he chose.	20 E se il Signore non avesse abbreviato quei giorni non scamperebbe nessun vivente, ma in grazia degli eletti che ha scelti ha accorciato quei giorni.
21 'And if anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ" or, "Look, he is there," do not believe it;	21 Se uno allora vi dirà: Ecco qui il Cristo, eccolo là, non gli credete.
22 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and produce signs and portents to deceive the elect, ifthat were possible.	22 Perchè sorgeranno dei falsi Cristi e dei falsi profeti che faranno segni e prodigi tali da sedurre, se fosse possibile, anche gli eletti.
23 You, therefore, must be on your guard. I have given you full warning.	23 State dunque attenti, ecco io vi ho predetto tutto.
24 'But in those days, after that time of distress, the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,	24 Ma in quei giorni, dopo quelle tribolazioni, s'oscurerà il sole e la luna non darà più la sua luce,
25 the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens wil be shaken.	25 e le stelle cadranno dal cielo e le potenze dei cieli saranno sconvolte.
26 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.	26 E allora vedranno il Figlio dei l'uomo venir sulle nubi con grande potenza e gloria.
27 And then he wil send the angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the world tothe ends of the sky.	27 E allora manderà gli angeli suoi, e dai quattro venti radunerà i suoi eletti, dall'estremo della terra a quello del cielo.
28 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.	28 Dal fico imparate il paragone. Quando il ramo si fa tenero e mette le foglie, sapete che l'estate è vicina;
29 So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates.	29 Così anche voi, quando vedrete avvenire queste cose, sappiate che egli è vicino alle porte.
30 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away al these things will have taken place.	30 La verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione prima che tutto questo avvenga.
31 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil not pass away.	31 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
32 'But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one butthe Father.	32 In quanto poi a quel giorno e a quell'ora, nessuno li sa, nè gli angeli del cielo, nè il Figlio; ma solo il Padre,
33 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time wil come.	33 State attenti, vegliate e pregate, perchè non sapete quando sia quel tempo.
34 It is like a man travel ing abroad: he has gone from his home, and left his servants in charge, eachwith his own work to do; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake.	34 Così un uomo, mettendosi in viaggio, lasciò la casa e ne diede ai servi suoi il governo, a ciascuno il suo ufficio, e al portinaio comandò di vigilare.
35 So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening,midnight, cockcrow or dawn;	35 Vigilate voi dunque, perchè non sapete quando sia per venire il padrone di casa, se alla sera o alla mezzanotte o al canto del gallo o alla mattina;
36 if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep.	36 onde non succeda che, arrivando egli all'improvviso, vi trovi addormentati.
37 And what I am saying to you I say to al : Stay awake!'	37 E ciò che dico a voi lo dico a tutti: vegliate.
