1 As he was leaving the Temple one of his disciples said to him, 'Master, look at the size of thosestones! Look at the size of those buildings!'	1 וַיְהִי בְּצֵאתוֹ מִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אֶחָד מִתַּלְמִידָיו רַבִּי רְאֵה מַה־יָּפוּ הָאֲבָנִים וְהַבִּנְיָנִים הָאֵלֶּה
2 And Jesus said to him, 'You see these great buildings? Not a single stone wil be left on another;everything wil be pul ed down.'	2 וַיַּעַן אֹתוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמַר הֲרָאִיתָ אֶת־כָּל־הַבִּנְיָנִים הַגְּדוֹלִים הָאֵלֶּה לֹא־תִשָּׁאֵר אֶבֶן עַל־אֶבֶן אֲשֶׁר לֹא תִתְפָּרָק
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrewquestioned him when they were by themselves,	3 וַיֵּשֶׁב עַל־הַר הַזֵּיתִים מִמּוּל הַמִּקְדָּשׁ וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּ פֶטְרוֹס וְיַעֲקֹב וְיוֹחָנָן וְאַנְדְּרַי וְהֵם אִתּוֹ לְבַדָּם
4 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be that it is all about to take place?'	4 אֱמָר־נָא לָנוּ מָתַי תִּהְיֶה־זֹּאת וּמַה־הוּא הָאוֹת בְּבֹא הָעֵת אֲשֶׁר תֵּעָשֶׂה בָהּ כָּל־זֹאת
5 Then Jesus began to tel them, 'Take care that no one deceives you.	5 וַיַּעַן אֹתָם יֵשׁוּעַ וַיָּחֶל לְדַבֵּר רְאוּ פֶּן־יַתְעֶה אֶתְכֶם אִישׁ
6 Many wil come using my name and saying, "I am he," and they wil deceive many.	6 כִּי רַבִּים יָבֹאוּ בִּשְׁמִי לֵאמֹר אֲנִי הוּא וְיַתְעוּ רַבִּים
7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed; this is something that must happen,but the end wil not be yet.	7 וּבְשָׁמְעֲכֶם מִלְחָמוֹת וּשְׁמֻעוֹת מִלְחָמָה אַל־תִּבָּהֵלוּ כִּי־הָיוֹ תִהְיֶה זֹאת אַךְ לֹא־זֹאת הִיא הַקֵּץ
8 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be earthquakes in variousplaces; there wil be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.	8 כִּי־יָקוּם גּוֹי עַל־גּוֹי וּמַמְלָכָה עַל־מַמְלָכָה וְהָיָה רַעַשׁ כֹּה וָכֹה וְהָיָה רָעָב וּמְהוּמָה
9 'Be on your guard: you wil be handed over to sanhedrins; you wil be beaten in synagogues; and you wil be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them,	9 אֵלֶּה רֵאשִׁית הַחֲבָלִים וְאַתֶּם הִשָּׁמְרוּ בְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כִּי־יִמְסְרוּ אֶתְכֶם לְסַנְהֶדְרִיּוֹת וְהֻכֵּיתֶם בְּבָתֵּי כְנֵסִיּוֹת וְלִפְנֵי משְׁלִים וּמְלָכִים תּוּבָאוּ לְמַעֲנִי לְעֵדוּת לָהֶם
10 since the gospel must first be proclaimed to al nations.	10 וְהַבְּשׂוֹרָה צְרִיכָה לְהִקָּרֵא בָרִאשׁוֹנָה לְכָל־הַגּוֹיִם
11 'And when you are taken to be handed over, do not worry beforehand about what to say; no, saywhatever is given to you when the time comes, because it is not you who wil be speaking; it is the Holy Spirit.	11 וְכַאֲשֶׁר יוֹלִיכוּ וּמָסְרוּ אֶתְכֶם אַל־תִּדְאֲגוּ וְאַל־תְּחַשְּׁבוּ מַה־תְּדַבֵּרוּ כִּי הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר יִנָּתֵן לָכֶם בַּשָּׁעָה הַהִיא אוֹתוֹ דַבֵּרוּ יַעַן לֹא־אַתֶּם הֵם הַמְדַבְּרִים כִּי אִם־רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ
12 Brother wil betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	12 וְאָח יִמְסֹר אֶת־אָחִיו לַמָּוֶת וְאָב אֶת־בְּנוֹ וְקָמוּ בָנִים בַּאֲבוֹתָם וְהֵמִיתוּ אוֹתָם
13 You wil be universal y hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	13 וִהְיִיתֶם שְׂנוּאִים לְכָל־אָדָם לְמַעַן שְׁמִי וְהַמְחַכֶּה עַד־עֵת קֵץ הוּא יִוָּשֵׁעַ
14 'When you see the appal ing abomination set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand),then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;	14 וְכִי תִרְאוּ אֶת־שִׁקּוּץ מְשֹׁמֵם הַנֶּאֱמָר בְּיַד דָּנִיֵּאל הַנָּבִיא עֹמֵד בַּמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר לֹא־לוֹ הַקּוֹרֵא יָבִין אָז נוֹס יָנוּסוּ אַנְשֵׁי יְהוּדָה אֶל־הֶהָרִים
15 if a man is on the housetop, he must not come down or go inside to col ect anything from his house;	15 וַאֲשֶׁר עַל־הַגָּג אַל־יֵרֵד הַבַּיְתָה וְאַל־יָבֹא פְנִימָה לָשֵׂאת דָּבָר מִבֵּיתוֹ
16 if a man is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.	16 וַאֲשֶׁר בַּשָּׂדֶה אַל־יָשֹׁב הַבַּיְתָה לָשֵׂאת מַלְבּוּשׁוֹ
17 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	17 וְאוֹי לֶהָרוֹת וְלַמֵּינִיקוֹת בַּיָּמִים הָהֵמָּה
18 Pray that this may not be in winter.	18 אַךְ הִתְפַּלְלוּ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תִהְיֶה מְנוּסַתְכֶם בַּחֹרֶף
19 For in those days there will be great distress, unparalleled since God created the world, and such aswil never be again.	19 כִּי הַיָּמִים הָהֵם יִהְיוּ עֵת צָרָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא־נִהְיְתָה כָמוֹהָ מֵרֵאשִׁית הַבְּרִיאָה אֲשֶׁר בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים עַד־עָתָּה וְכָמוֹהָ לֹא־תִהְיֶה עוֹד
20 And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no human being would have survived; but he did shortenthe time, for the sake of the elect whom he chose.	20 וְלוּלֵי קִצַּר יְהוָֹה אֶת־הַיָּמִים הָהֵם לֹא־יִוָּשַׁע כָּל־בָּשָׂר אַךְ לְמַעַן הַבְּחִירִים אֲשֶׁר בָּחַר בָּם קִצַּר אֶת־הַיָּמִים
21 'And if anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ" or, "Look, he is there," do not believe it;	21 וְאָז אִם־יֹאמַר אִישׁ אֲלֵיכֶם הִנֵּה־פֹה הַמָּשִׁיחַ אוֹ הִנֵּהוּ שָׁם אַל־תַּאֲמִינוּ
22 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and produce signs and portents to deceive the elect, ifthat were possible.	22 כִּי יָקוּמוּ מְשִׁיחֵי שֶׁקֶר וּנְבִיאֵי שָׁקֶר וְנָתְנוּ אֹתוֹת וּמוֹפְתִים לְהַתְעוֹת אַף אֶת־הַבְּחִירִים אִם־יוּכָלוּ
23 You, therefore, must be on your guard. I have given you full warning.	23 וְאַתֶּם רְאוּ הִנֵּה מֵרֹאשׁ הִגַּדְתִּי לָכֶם אֶת־כֹּל
24 'But in those days, after that time of distress, the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,	24 וְהָיָה בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם אַחֲרֵי הַצָּרָה הַהִיא תֶּחְשַׁךְ הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וְהַיָּרֵחַ לֹא־יַגִּיהַּ אוֹרוֹ
25 the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens wil be shaken.	25 וְהַכּוֹכָבִים יִפְּלוּ מִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם וְכֹחוֹת הַשָּׁמַיִם יִתְמוֹטָטוּ
26 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.	26 וְאָז יִרְאוּ אֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָם בָּא בַעֲנָנִים בִּגְבוּרָה רַבָּה וּבְכָבוֹד
27 And then he wil send the angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the world tothe ends of the sky.	27 וְאָז יִשְׁלַח אֶת־מַלְאָכָיו וִיקַבֵּץ אֶת־בְּחִירָיו מֵאַרְבַּע הָרוּחוֹת מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ עַד־קְצֵה הַשָּׁמָיִם
28 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.	28 לִמְדוּ־נָא אֶת־מְשַׁל הַתְּאֵנָה כְּשֶׁיִּרְטַב עֲנָפָהּ וּפָרַח עָלֶהָ יְדַעְתֶּם כִּי קָרוֹב הַקָּיִץ
29 So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates.	29 כֵּן אַף־אַתֶּם בִּרְאֹתְכֶם כִּי־הָיוּ כָל־אֵלֶּה דְּעוּ כִּי־קָרוֹב הוּא לַפָּתַח
30 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away al these things will have taken place.	30 אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם לֹא יַעֲבֹר הַדּוֹר הַזֶּה עַד אֲשֶׁר־יִהְיוּ כָּל־אֵלֶּה
31 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil not pass away.	31 הַשָּׁמַיִם וְהָאָרֶץ יַעֲבֹרוּ וּדְבָרַי לֹא יַעֲבֹרוּן
32 'But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one butthe Father.	32 אַךְ עֶת־בּוֹא הַיּוֹם הַהוּא וְהַשָּׁעָה הַהִיא אֵין אִישׁ יוֹדֵעַ אוֹתָהּ גַּם־לֹא מַלְאֲכֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם גַּם־לֹא הַבֵּן מִבַּלְעֲדֵי הָאָב
33 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time wil come.	33 רְאוּ שִׁקְדוּ וְהִתְפַּלֵּלוּ כִּי לֹא יְדַעְתֶּם מָתַי תִּהְיֶה הָעֵת
34 It is like a man travel ing abroad: he has gone from his home, and left his servants in charge, eachwith his own work to do; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake.	34 וְהָיָה כְּאִישׁ הוֹלֵךְ לַמֶּרְחָק אֲשֶׁר עָזַב אֶת־בֵּיתוֹ וַיִּתֵּן שָׁלְטָן לַעֲבָדָיו וּלְאִישׁ אִישׁ אֶת־מְלַאכְתּוֹ וְגַם אֶת־הַשּׁוֹעֵר צִוָּה לִשְׁקֹד
35 So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening,midnight, cockcrow or dawn;	35 לָכֵן שִׁקְדוּ כִּי לֹא יְדַעְתֶּם מָתַי יָבוֹא בַּעַל הַבָּיִת אִם־לְעֵת עֶרֶב אוֹ־בַחֲצוֹת הַלַּיְלָה אִם־בְּעֵת קְרִיאַת הַגֶּבֶר אוֹ בַבֹּקֶר
36 if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep.	36 פֶּן־יָבוֹא פִתְאֹם וּמָצָא אֶתְכֶם יְשֵׁנִים
37 And what I am saying to you I say to al : Stay awake!'	37 וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר אָמַרְתִּי לָכֶם אֹמֵר אֲנִי לַכֹּל שְׁקֹדוּ
