NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 As he was leaving the Temple one of his disciples said to him, 'Master, look at the size of thosestones! Look at the size of those buildings!'	1 Al salir del Templo, le dice uno de sus discípulos: «Maestro, mira qué piedras y qué construcciones».
2 And Jesus said to him, 'You see these great buildings? Not a single stone wil be left on another;everything wil be pul ed down.'	2 Jesús le dijo: «¿Ves estas grandiosas construcciones? No quedará piedra sobre piedra que no sea derruida».
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrewquestioned him when they were by themselves,	3 Estando luego sentado en el monte de los Olivos, frente al Templo, le preguntaron en privado Pedro, Santiago, Juan y Andrés:
4 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be that it is all about to take place?'	4 «Dinos cuándo sucederá eso, y cuál será la señal de que todas estas cosas están para cumplirse».
5 Then Jesus began to tel them, 'Take care that no one deceives you.	5 Jesús empezó a decirles: «Mirad que no os engañe nadie.
6 Many wil come using my name and saying, "I am he," and they wil deceive many.	6 Vendrán muchos usurpando mi nombre y diciendo: “Yo soy”, y engañarán a muchos.
7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed; this is something that must happen,but the end wil not be yet.	7 Cuando oigáis hablar de guerras y de rumores de guerras, no os alarméis; porque eso es necesario que suceda, pero no es todavía el fin.
8 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be earthquakes in variousplaces; there wil be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.	8 Pues se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino. Habrá terremotos en diversos lugares, habrá hambre: esto será el comienzo de los dolores de alumbramiento.
9 'Be on your guard: you wil be handed over to sanhedrins; you wil be beaten in synagogues; and you wil be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them,	9 «Pero vosotros mirad por vosotros mismos; os entregarán a los tribunales, seréis azotados en las sinagogas y compareceréis ante gobernadores y reyes por mi causa, para que deis testimonio ante ellos.
10 since the gospel must first be proclaimed to al nations.	10 Y es preciso que antes sea proclamada la Buena Nueva a todas las naciones.
11 'And when you are taken to be handed over, do not worry beforehand about what to say; no, saywhatever is given to you when the time comes, because it is not you who wil be speaking; it is the Holy Spirit.	11 «Y cuando os lleven para entregaros, no os preocupéis de qué vais a hablar; sino hablad lo que se os comunique en aquel momento. Porque no seréis vosotros los que hablaréis, sino el Espíritu Santo.
12 Brother wil betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	12 Y entregará a la muerte hermano a hermano y padre a hijo; se levantarán hijos contra padres y los matarán.
13 You wil be universal y hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	13 Y seréis odiados de todos por causa de mi nombre; pero el que persevere hasta el fin, ése se salvará.
14 'When you see the appal ing abomination set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand),then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;	14 «Pero cuando veáis la abominación de la desolación erigida donde no debe (el que lea, que entienda), entonces, los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes;
15 if a man is on the housetop, he must not come down or go inside to col ect anything from his house;	15 el que esté en el terrado, no baje ni entre a recoger algo de su casa,
16 if a man is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.	16 y el que esté por el campo, no regrese en busca de su manto.
17 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	17 ¡Ay de las que estén encinta o criando en aquellos días!
18 Pray that this may not be in winter.	18 Orad para que no suceda en invierno.
19 For in those days there will be great distress, unparalleled since God created the world, and such aswil never be again.	19 Porque aquellos días habrá una tribulación cual no la hubo desde el principio de la creación, que hizo Dios, hasta el presente, ni la volverá a haber.
20 And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no human being would have survived; but he did shortenthe time, for the sake of the elect whom he chose.	20 Y si el Señor no abreviase aquellos días, no se salvaría nadie, pero en atención a los elegidos que él escogió, ha abreviado los días.
21 'And if anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ" or, "Look, he is there," do not believe it;	21 Entonces, si alguno os dice: “Mirad, el Cristo aquí” “Miradlo allí”, no lo creáis.
22 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and produce signs and portents to deceive the elect, ifthat were possible.	22 Pues surgirán falsos cristos y falsos profetas y realizarán señales y prodigios con el propósito de engañar, si fuera posible, a los elegidos.
23 You, therefore, must be on your guard. I have given you full warning.	23 Vosotros, pues, estad sobre aviso; mirad que os lo he predicho todo.
24 'But in those days, after that time of distress, the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,	24 «Mas por esos días, después de aquella tribulación, el sol se oscurecerá, la luna no dará su resplandor,
25 the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens wil be shaken.	25 las estrellas irán cayendo del cielo, y las fuerzas que están en los cielos serán sacudidas.
26 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.	26 Y entonces verán al Hijo del hombre que viene entre nubes con gran poder y gloria;
27 And then he wil send the angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the world tothe ends of the sky.	27 entonces enviará a los ángeles y reunirá de los cuatro vientos a sus elegidos, desde el extremo de la tierra hasta el extremo del cielo.
28 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.	28 «De la higuera aprended esta parábola: cuando ya sus ramas están tiernas y brotan las hojas, sabéis que el verano está cerca.
29 So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates.	29 Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que sucede esto, sabed que El está cerca, a las puertas.
30 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away al these things will have taken place.	30 Yo os aseguro que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto suceda.
31 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil not pass away.	31 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
32 'But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one butthe Father.	32 Mas de aquel día y hora, nadie sabe nada, ni los ángeles en el cielo, ni el Hijo, sino sólo el Padre.
33 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time wil come.	33 «Estad atentos y vigilad, porque ignoráis cuándo será el momento.
34 It is like a man travel ing abroad: he has gone from his home, and left his servants in charge, eachwith his own work to do; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake.	34 Al igual que un hombre que se ausenta: deja su casa, da atribuciones a sus siervos, a cada uno su trabajo, y ordena al portero que vele;
35 So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening,midnight, cockcrow or dawn;	35 velad, por tanto, ya que no sabéis cuándo viene el dueño de la casa, si al atardecer, o a media noche, o al cantar del gallo, o de madrugada.
36 if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep.	36 No sea que llegue de improviso y os encuentre dormidos.
37 And what I am saying to you I say to al : Stay awake!'	37 Lo que a vosotros digo, a todos lo digo: ¡Velad!»
