NEW JERUSALEMNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Then, raising my eyes, I had a vision. It was this: There were four horns.1 I raised my eyes and looked; there were four horns.
I said to the angel who was talking to me, 'What are these?' He said to me, 'These are the horns whichscattered Judah (Israel) and Jerusalem.'2 Then I asked the angel who spoke with me what these were. He answered me, "These are the horns that scattered Judah and Israeland Jerusalem."
Yahweh then showed me four smiths.3 Then the LORD showed me four blacksmiths. And I asked, "What are these coming to do?"
And I said, 'What are these coming to do?' He said to me, '(Those horns scattered Judah so completelythat no one dared to raise his head; but) these have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nationswho raised their horns over the land of Judah to scatter it.'4 And he said, "Here are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no man raised his head any more; but these have come to terrify them: to cast down the horns of the nations that raised their horns to scatter the land of Judah."
Then, raising my eyes, I had a vision. There was a man with a measuring line in his hand.5 Again I raised my eyes and looked: there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
I asked him, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'To measure Jerusalem, to calculate her width and length.'6 "Where are you going?" I asked. "To measure Jerusalem," he answered; "to see how great is its width and how great its length."
And then, while the angel who was talking to me walked away, another angel came out to meet him.7 Then the angel who spoke with me advanced, and another angel came out to meet him,
He said to him, 'Run, and tell that young man this, "Jerusalem is to remain unwal ed, because of the great number of men and cattle inside.8 and said to him, "Run, tell this to that young man: People will live in Jerusalem as though in open country, because of the multitude of men and beasts in her midst.
For I -- Yahweh declares -- shal be a wall of fire al round her and I shal be the Glory within her." '9 But I will be for her an encircling wall of fire, says the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst."
Look out! Look out! Flee from the land of the north -- Yahweh declares- for I have scattered you to thefour winds of heaven -- Yahweh declares.10 Up, up! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD; for I scatter you to the four winds of heaven, says the LORD.
Look out! Make your escape, Zion, now living with the daughter of Babylon!11 Up, escape to Zion! you who dwell in daughter Babylon.
For Yahweh Sabaoth says this, since the Glory commissioned me, about the nations who plunderedyou, 'Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye.12 For thus said the LORD of hosts (after he had already sent me) concerning the nations that have plundered you: Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye.
Now look, I shal wave my hand over them and they wil be plundered by those whom they haveenslaved.' Then you wil know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me!13 See, I wave my hand over them; they become plunder for their slaves. Thus you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.
Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion, for now I am coming to live among you -Yahweh declares!14 Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD.
And on that day many nations will be converted to Yahweh. Yes, they wil become his people, and theywil live among you. Then you wil know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me to you!15 Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will dwell among you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
Yahweh wil take possession of Judah, his portion in the Holy Land, and again make Jerusalem hischoice.16 The LORD will possess Judah as his portion of the holy land, and he will again choose Jerusalem.
Let al people be silent before Yahweh, now that he is stirring from his holy Dwel ing!17 Silence, all mankind, in the presence of the LORD! for he stirs forth from his holy dwelling.
