Zechariah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Then, raising my eyes, I had a vision. It was this: There were four horns.	1 ואשא עיני וארא והנה איש ובידו חבל מדה
2 I said to the angel who was talking to me, 'What are these?' He said to me, 'These are the horns whichscattered Judah (Israel) and Jerusalem.'	2 ואמר אנה אתה הלך ויאמר אלי למד את ירושלם לראות כמה רחבה וכמה ארכה
3 Yahweh then showed me four smiths.	3 והנה המלאך הדבר בי יצא ומלאך אחר יצא לקראתו
4 And I said, 'What are these coming to do?' He said to me, '(Those horns scattered Judah so completelythat no one dared to raise his head; but) these have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nationswho raised their horns over the land of Judah to scatter it.'	4 ויאמר אלו רץ דבר אל הנער הלז לאמר פרזות תשב ירושלם מרב אדם ובהמה בתוכה
5 Then, raising my eyes, I had a vision. There was a man with a measuring line in his hand.	5 ואני אהיה לה נאם יהוה חומת אש סביב ולכבוד אהיה בתוכה
6 I asked him, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'To measure Jerusalem, to calculate her width and length.'	6 הוי הוי ונסו מארץ צפון נאם יהוה כי כארבע רוחות השמים פרשתי אתכם נאם יהוה
7 And then, while the angel who was talking to me walked away, another angel came out to meet him.	7 הוי ציון המלטי יושבת בת בבל
8 He said to him, 'Run, and tell that young man this, "Jerusalem is to remain unwal ed, because of the great number of men and cattle inside.	8 כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אחר כבוד שלחני אל הגוים השללים אתכם כי הנגע בכם נגע בבבת עינו
9 For I -- Yahweh declares -- shal be a wall of fire al round her and I shal be the Glory within her." '	9 כי הנני מניף את ידי עליהם והיו שלל לעבדיהם וידעתם כי יהוה צבאות שלחני
10 Look out! Look out! Flee from the land of the north -- Yahweh declares- for I have scattered you to thefour winds of heaven -- Yahweh declares.	10 רני ושמחי בת ציון כי הנני בא ושכנתי בתוכך נאם יהוה
11 Look out! Make your escape, Zion, now living with the daughter of Babylon!	11 ונלוו גוים רבים אל יהוה ביום ההוא והיו לי לעם ושכנתי בתוכך וידעת כי יהוה צבאות שלחני אליך
12 For Yahweh Sabaoth says this, since the Glory commissioned me, about the nations who plunderedyou, 'Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye.	12 ונחל יהוה את יהודה חלקו על אדמת הקדש ובחר עוד בירושלם
13 Now look, I shal wave my hand over them and they wil be plundered by those whom they haveenslaved.' Then you wil know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me!	13 הס כל בשר מפני יהוה כי נעור ממעון קדשו
14 Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion, for now I am coming to live among you -Yahweh declares!
15 And on that day many nations will be converted to Yahweh. Yes, they wil become his people, and theywil live among you. Then you wil know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me to you!
16 Yahweh wil take possession of Judah, his portion in the Holy Land, and again make Jerusalem hischoice.
17 Let al people be silent before Yahweh, now that he is stirring from his holy Dwel ing!
