NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 ثم كلم الرب موسى قائلا
2 'Send out men, one from each tribe, to reconnoitre the land of Canaan which I am giving theIsraelites. Each of them is to be a leading man of the tribe.'	2 ارسل رجالا ليتجسسوا ارض كنعان التي انا معطيها لبني اسرائيل. رجلا واحدا لكل سبط من آبائه ترسلون. كل واحد رئيس فيهم.
3 At Yahweh's order, Moses sent them from the desert of Paran. All of them were leading men of Israel.	3 فارسلهم موسى من برية فاران حسب قول الرب. كلهم رجال هم رؤساء بني اسرائيل
4 These were their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur:	4 وهذه اسماؤهم. من سبط رأوبين شمّوع بن زكّور.
5 for the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;	5 من سبط شمعون شافاط بن حوري.
6 for the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;	6 من سبط يهوذا كالب بن يفنّة.
7 for the tribe of of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;	7 من سبط يسّاكر يجآل بن يوسف.
8 for the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;	8 من سبط افرايم هوشع بن نون.
9 for the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;	9 من سبط بنيامين فلطي بن رافو.
10 for the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;	10 من سبط زبولون جدّيئيل بن سودي.
11 for the tribe of Joseph, for the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi son of Susi;	11 من سبط يوسف من سبط منسّى جدّي بن سوسي.
12 for the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemal i;	12 من سبط دان عميئيل بن جملّي.
13 for the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;	13 من سبط اشير ستور بن ميخائيل.
14 for the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;	14 من سبط نفتالي نحبي بن وفسي.
15 for the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.	15 من سبط جاد جأوئيل بن ماكي.
16 Such were the names of the men whom Moses sent to reconnoitre the country. Moses then gaveHoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.	16 هذه اسماء الرجال الذين ارسلهم موسى ليتجسّسوا الارض. ودعا موسى هوشع بن نون يشوع
17 Moses sent them to reconnoitre the land of Canaan, 'Go up into the Negeb,' he said, 'then go up intothe highlands.	17 فارسلهم موسى ليتجسّسوا ارض كنعان وقال لهم اصعدوا من هنا الى الجنوب واطلعوا الى الجبل
18 See what sort of country it is, and what sort of people the inhabitants are, whether they are strong orweak, few or many,	18 وانظروا الارض ما هي. والشعب الساكن فيها أقويّ هو ام ضعيف. قليل ام كثير.
19 what sort of land they live on, whether it is good or poor; what sort of towns they live in, whether theyare open or fortified;	19 وكيف هي الارض التي هو ساكن فيها أجيدة ام ردية. وما هي المدن التي هو ساكن فيها أمخيّمات ام حصون.
20 what sort of land it is, fertile or barren, wooded or open. Be bold, and bring back some of thecountry's produce.' It was the season for early grapes.	20 وكيف هي الارض أسمينة ام هزيلة. أفيها شجر ام لا. وتشددوا فخذوا من ثمر الارض. واما الايام فكانت ايام باكورات العنب
21 They went up and reconnoitred the country from the desert of Zin to Rehob, the Pass of Hamath.	21 فصعدوا وتجسّسوا الارض من برية صين الى رحوب في مدخل حماة.
22 They went up by way of the Negeb as far as Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, theAnakim, lived. (Hebron was founded seven years before Tanis in Egypt.)	22 صعدوا الى الجنوب واتوا الى حبرون. وكان هناك اخيمان وشيشاي وتلماي بنو عناق. واما حبرون فبنيت قبل صوعن مصر بسبع سنين.
23 Reaching the Vale of Eshcol, there they lopped off a vine branch with a cluster of grapes, which twoof them carried away on a pole, as wel as pomegranates and figs.	23 وأتوا الى وادي اشكول وقطعوا من هناك زرجونة بعنقود واحد من العنب وحملوه بالدقرانة بين اثنين مع شيء من الرمان والتين
24 This place was called the Vale of Eshcol after the cluster which the Israelites cut there.	24 فدعي ذلك الموضع وادي اشكول بسبب العنقود الذي قطعه بنو اسرائيل من هناك.
25 After forty days they returned from reconnoitring the country.	25 ثم رجعوا من تجسّس الارض بعد اربعين يوما
26 Making their way to Moses, Aaron and the whole community of Israel, in the desert of Paran, atKadesh, they made their report to them and the whole community, and displayed the country's produce.	26 فساروا حتى اتوا الى موسى وهرون وكل جماعة بني اسرائيل الى برية فاران الى قادش وردّوا اليهما خبرا والى كل الجماعة وأروهم ثمر الارض.
27 This was the report they gave: 'We made our way into the country where you sent us. It does indeedflow with milk and honey; here is what it produces.	27 واخبروه وقالوا قد ذهبنا الى الارض التي ارسلتنا اليها وحقا انها تفيض لبنا وعسلا وهذا ثمرها.
28 At the same time, its inhabitants are a powerful people; the towns are fortified and very big; yes, andwe saw the Anakim there.	28 غير ان الشعب الساكن في الارض معتزّ والمدن حصينة عظيمة جدا. وايضا قد رأينا بني عناق هناك.
29 The Amalekites occupy the Negeb area, the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites the highlands, and theCanaanites the sea coast and the banks of the Jordan.'	29 العمالقة ساكنون في ارض الجنوب والحثّيون واليبوسيون والاموريون ساكنون في الجبل والكنعانيون ساكنون عند البحر وعلى جانب الاردن.
30 Caleb called the people round Moses to silence and then said, 'We must march in immediately andtake it; we are certainly able to conquer it.'	30 لكن كالب انصت الشعب الى موسى وقال اننا نصعد ونمتلكها لاننا قادرون عليها.
31 But the men who had been with him said, 'We cannot attack these people; they are stronger than weare.'	31 واما الرجال الذين صعدوا معه فقالوا لا نقدر ان نصعد الى الشعب لانهم اشدّ منا.
32 And they began disparaging to the Israelites the country they had reconnoitred, saying, 'The countrywe have been to reconnoitre is a country that devours its inhabitants. Al the people we saw there were ofenormous size.	32 فاشاعوا مذمة الارض التي تجسّسوها في بني اسرائيل قائلين الارض التي مررنا فيها لنتجسّسها هي ارض تاكل سكّانها. وجميع الشعب الذي رأينا فيها اناس طوال القامة.
33 We saw giants there too (the Anakim, descended from the Giants). We felt like grasshoppers, andso we seemed to them.'	33 وقد رأينا هناك الجبابرة بني عناق من الجبابرة. فكنّا في اعيننا كالجراد وهكذا كنّا في اعينهم
