Jonah 2

¹ Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	¹ Yahvé envoya un grand poisson pour avaler Jonas, et Jonas resta trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre du grand poisson.
² From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	² Du fond des boyaux du grand poisson, Jonas adressait cette prière à Yahvé son Dieu:
³ Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	³ “Du fond de ma détresse j’ai lancé un appel à Yahvé: il m’a répondu. Du gouffre des morts j’ai crié au secours et tu as entendu ma voix.
⁴ For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	⁴ Tu m’avais jeté au milieu des mers, seul au milieu du torrent; tes vagues et tes flots déferlaient sur moi.
⁵ then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	⁵ Je disais: ‘Me voilà chassé loin de toi, plus d’espoir de revoir ton Temple saint!’
⁶ The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	⁶ Les eaux me montaient jusqu’au cou, je me perdais dans les eaux de l’abîme, ma tête se prenait dans les algues.
⁷ To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	⁷ J’étais descendu aux racines des montagnes, au pays dont les verrous pour toujours se ferment; mais tu m’as fait remonter de la fosse, Yahvé mon Dieu.
⁸ When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	⁸ Lorsque mon âme en moi se fondait, je me suis souvenu de Yahvé, ma prière est montée jusqu’à toi, jusqu’à ton saint Temple.
⁹ Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	⁹ Ceux qui servent de vaines idoles ont sacrifié leur propre salut.
¹⁰ but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	¹⁰ Mais c’est à toi que vont mes sacrifices, mes chants de louange. mes vœux que j’accomplirai, car Yahvé est celui qui sauve.”
¹¹ Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	¹¹ Alors Yahvé parla au grand poisson, et le poisson vomit Jonas sur la terre sèche.
