Jonah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	1 El Señor hizo que un gran pez se tragara a Jonás, y este permaneció en el vientre el pez tres días y tres noches.
2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	2 Entonces Jonás oró al Señor, su Dios, desde el vientre del pez,
3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	3 diciendo: «Desde mi angustia invoqué al Señor, y él me respondió; desde el seno del Abismo, pedí auxilio, y tú escuchaste mi voz.
4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	4 Tú me arrojaste a lo más profundo, al medio del mar: la corriente me envolvía, ¡todos tus torrentes y tus olas pasaron sobre mí!
5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	5 Entonces dije: He sido arrojado lejos de tus ojos, pero yo seguiré mirando hacia tu santo Templo.
6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	6 Las aguas me rodeaban hasta la garganta y el Abismo me cercaba; las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	7 Yo bajé hasta las raíces de las montañas: sobre mí se cerraron para siempre los cerrojos de la tierra; pero tú me hiciste subir vivo de la Fosa, Señor, Dios mío.
8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	8 Cuando mi alma desfallecía, me acordé del Señor, y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo Templo.
9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	9 Los que veneran ídolos vanos abandonan su fidelidad,
10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	10 pero yo, en acción de gracias, te ofreceré sacrificios y cumpliré mis votos: ¡La salvación viene del Señor!».
11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	11 Entonces el Señor dio una orden al pez, y este arrojó a Jonás sobre la tierra firme.
