Jonah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	1 Yahvé fit qu'il y eut un grand poisson pour engloutir Jonas. Jonas demeura dans les entrailles dupoisson trois jours et trois nuits.
2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	2 Des entrailles du poisson, il pria Yahvé, son Dieu. Il dit:
3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	3 De la détresse où j'étais, j'ai crié vers Yahvé, et il m'a répondu; du sein du shéol, j'ai appelé, tu asentendu ma voix.
4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	4 Tu m'avais jeté dans les profondeurs, au coeur de la mer, et le flot m'environnait. Toutes tes vagues ettes lames ont passé sur moi.
5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	5 Et moi je disais: Je suis rejeté de devant tes yeux. Comment contemplerai-je encore ton saint Temple?
6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	6 Les eaux m'avaient environné jusqu'à la gorge, l'abîme me cernait. L'algue était enroulée autour de matête.
7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	7 A la racine des montagnes j'étais descendu, en un pays dont les verrous étaient tirés sur moi pourtoujours. Mais de la fosse tu as fait remonter ma vie, Yahvé, mon Dieu.
8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	8 Tandis qu'en moi mon âme défaillait, je me suis souvenu de Yahvé, et ma prière est allée jusqu'à toien ton saint Temple.
9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	9 Ceux qui servent des vanités trompeuses, c'est leur grâce qu'ils abandonnent.
10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	10 Moi, aux accents de la louange, je t'offrirai des sacrifices. Le voeu que j'ai fait, je l'accomplirai. DeYahvé vient le salut.
11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	11 Yahvé commanda au poisson, qui vomit Jonas sur le rivage.
