Jonah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	1 וַיְמַן יְהוָה דָּג גָּדֹול לִבְלֹעַ אֶת־יֹונָה וַיְהִי יֹונָה בִּמְעֵי הַדָּג שְׁלֹשָׁה יָמִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה לֵילֹות
2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	2 וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל יֹונָה אֶל־יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו מִמְּעֵי הַדָּגָה
3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	3 וַיֹּאמֶר קָרָאתִי מִצָּרָה לִי אֶל־יְהוָה וַיַּעֲנֵנִי מִבֶּטֶן שְׁאֹול שִׁוַּעְתִּי שָׁמַעְתָּ קֹולִי
4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	4 וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי מְצוּלָה בִּלְבַב יַמִּים וְנָהָר יְסֹבְבֵנִי כָּל־מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָ וְגַלֶּיךָ עָלַי עָבָרוּ
5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	5 וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי נִגְרַשְׁתִּי מִנֶּגֶד עֵינֶיךָ אַךְ אֹוסִיף לְהַבִּיט אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ
6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	6 אֲפָפוּנִי מַיִם עַד־נֶפֶשׁ תְּהֹום יְסֹבְבֵנִי סוּף חָבוּשׁ לְרֹאשִׁי
7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	7 לְקִצְבֵי הָרִים יָרַדְתִּי הָאָרֶץ בְּרִחֶיהָ בַעֲדִי לְעֹולָם וַתַּעַל מִשַּׁחַת חַיַּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי
8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	8 בְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי נַפְשִׁי אֶת־יְהוָה זָכָרְתִּי וַתָּבֹוא אֵלֶיךָ תְּפִלָּתִי אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ
9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	9 מְשַׁמְּרִים הַבְלֵי־שָׁוְא חַסְדָּם יַעֲזֹבוּ
10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	10 וַאֲנִי בְּקֹול תֹּודָה אֶזְבְּחָה־לָּךְ אֲשֶׁר נָדַרְתִּי אֲשַׁלֵּמָה יְשׁוּעָתָה לַיהוָה׃ ס
11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	11 וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה לַדָּג וַיָּקֵא אֶת־יֹונָה אֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁה׃ פ
	12 יַכְרֵת יְהוָה לָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂנָּה עֵר וְעֹנֶה מֵאָהֳלֵי יַעֲקֹב וּמַגִּישׁ מִנְחָה לַיהוָה צְבָאֹות׃ פ
	13 וְזֹאת שֵׁנִית תַּעֲשׂוּ כַּסֹּות דִּמְעָה אֶת־מִזְבַּח יְהוָה בְּכִי וַאֲנָקָה מֵאֵין עֹוד פְּנֹות אֶל־הַמִּנְחָה וְלָקַחַת רָצֹון מִיֶּדְכֶם
	14 וַאֲמַרְתֶּם עַל־מָה עַל כִּי־יְהוָה הֵעִיד בֵּינְךָ וּבֵין ׀ אֵשֶׁת נְעוּרֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה בָּגַדְתָּה בָּהּ וְהִיא חֲבֶרְתְּךָ וְאֵשֶׁת בְּרִיתֶךָ
	15 וְלֹא־אֶחָד עָשָׂה וּשְׁאָר רוּחַ לֹו וּמָה הָאֶחָד מְבַקֵּשׁ זֶרַע אֱלֹהִים וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּם בְּרוּחֲכֶם וּבְאֵשֶׁת נְעוּרֶיךָ אַל־יִבְגֹּד
	16 כִּי־שָׂנֵא שַׁלַּח אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְכִסָּה חָמָס עַל־לְבוּשֹׁו אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאֹות וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּם בְּרוּחֲכֶם וְלֹא תִבְגֹּדוּ׃ ס
	17 הֹוגַעְתֶּם יְהוָה בְּדִבְרֵיכֶם וַאֲמַרְתֶּם בַּמָּה הֹוגָעְנוּ בֶּאֱמָרְכֶם כָּל־עֹשֵׂה רָע טֹוב ׀ בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה וּבָהֶם הוּא חָפֵץ אֹו אַיֵּה אֱלֹהֵי הַמִּשְׁפָּט
