Isaiah 45

NEW JERUSALEM	Peshitta
1 Thus says Yahweh to his anointed one, to Cyrus whom, he says, I have grasped by his right hand, tomake the nations bow before him and to disarm kings, to open gateways before him so that their gates be closedno more:	1 ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܫܝܚܗ ܠܟܘܪܫ ܕܐܚ̇ܕܬ ܒܝܡܝܢܗ ܢܫܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܚܨܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܐܫܪܐ ܠܡܦܬܚ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܘܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܬܚܕܘܢ
2 I myself shal go before you, I shall level the heights, I shal shatter the bronze gateways, I shall smashthe iron bars.	2 ܐܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܐܙܠ ܘܥܪܡܐ ܐܫܦܐ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܢܚܫܐ ܐܬܒܪ ܘܡܘ̈ܟܠܐ ܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܐܓܕܡ
3 I shal give you secret treasures and hidden hoards of wealth, so that you will know that I am Yahweh,who cal you by your name, the God of Israel.	3 ܘܐܬܠ ܠܟ ܣܝܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܛܡܝܪ̈ܬܐ ܡܣܬܪ̈ܬܐ ܕܬܕܥ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܩ̇ܪܝܬܟ ܒܫܡܟ ܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
4 It is for the sake of my servant Jacob and of Israel my chosen one, that I have cal ed you by your name,have given you a title though you do not know me.	4 ܡܛܠ ܥܒܕܝ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܓܒܝܝ ܩ̇ܪܝܬܟ ܒܫܡܟ ܘܟܢܝ̇ܬܟ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܬܢܝ
5 I am Yahweh, and there is no other, there is no other God except me. Though you do not know me, Ihave armed you	5 ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ ܠܒܪ ܡܢܝ ܠܝܬ ܐܠܗ ܐܥܫܢ̇ܬܟ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܬܢܝ
6 so that it may be known from east to west that there is no one except me. I am Yahweh, and there is noother,	6 ܕܢܕܥܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܕܢܚ̈ܝ ܫܡܫܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܥܪ̈ܒܘܗܝ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܒܪ ܡܢܝ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ
7 I form the light and I create the darkness, I make well-being, and I create disaster, I, Yahweh, do althese things.	7 ܕܓܒܠ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܘܒܪܐ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܥܒܕ ܫܠܡܐ ܘܒܪܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ
8 Rain down, you heavens, from above, and let the clouds pour down saving justice, let the earth openup and blossom with salvation, and let justice sprout with it; I, Yahweh, have created it!	8 ܐܬܒܣܡܘ ܫܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܘܥܢ̈ܢܐ ܢܪ̈ܣܢ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܬܬܦܬܚ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܣܓܐ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܬܫܘܚ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܒ̇ܪܝܬ ܗܠܝܢ
9 Woe to anyone who argues with his Maker, one earthenware pot among many! Does the clay say to itspotter, 'What are you doing? Your work has no hands!'	9 ܘܝ ܠܕܕܐ̇ܢ ܥܡ ܓܒܘܠܗ ܚܨܦܐ ܡܢ ܚܨ̈ܦܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܛܝܢܐ ܠܦܚܪܐ ܡܢܐ ܥܒ̇ܕ ܐܢܬ ܘܠܐ ܗܘ̇ܝܬ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܕܐܝ̈ܕܝܟ
10 Woe to anyone who asks a father, 'Why are you begetting?' and a woman, 'Why are you giving birth?'	10 ܘܝ ܠܕܐܡ̇ܪ ܠܐܒܐ ܡܢܐ ܡܘܠܕ ܐܢܬ ܘܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܡܢܐ ܒܛܢܬܝ
11 Thus says Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker: I am asked for signs regarding my sons, Iam given orders about the work I do.	11 ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܓܒܘܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܫܡܗ ܫܐܠܘܢܝ ܐܬ̈ܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܘܥܠ ܥ̇ܒܕ ܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܦܩܕܘܢܝ
12 It was I who made the earth and I created human beings on it, mine were the hands that spread outthe heavens and I have given the orders to all their array.	12 ܐܢܐ ܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܒܪܢܫܐ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܐܢܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܡܬܚ̇ܬ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܦܩ̇ܕܬ ܠܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܗܘܢ
13 I myself have raised him in saving justice and I shall make all paths level for him. He will rebuild mycity and bring my exiles home without ransom or indemnity, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	13 ܐܢܐ ܐܥܝ̇ܪܬܗ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܐܫܦܐ ܗܘ ܢܒܢܐ ܩܪܝܬܝ ܘܫܒܝܬܝ ܢܫܕܪ ܠܐ ܒܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܫܘܚܕܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
14 Thus says Yahweh: The produce of Egypt, the commerce of Cush and the men of Seba, tall ofstature, wil come over to you and belong to you. They will fol ow you, walking in chains, they wil bow beforeyou, they wil pray to you, 'With you alone is God, and there is no other! The gods do not exist.'	14 ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܘܬܗ̇ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܬܓܪ̈ܐ ܕܟܘܫ ܘܕܫܒܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܥܠܝܟܝ ܢܥܒܪܘܢ ܘܕܝܠܟܝ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܘܒܬܪܟܝ ܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܘܒܫܫ̈ܠܬܐ ܢܥܒܪܘܢ ܘܠܟܝ ܢܣܓܕܘܢ ܘܒܟܝ ܢܨܠܘܢ ܕܒܟܝ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ ܐܠܗ ܐܚܪܝܢ
15 Truly, you are a God who conceals himself, God of Israel, Saviour!	15 ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܡܣܬܪܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܦܪܘܩܗ
16 They are shamed and humbled, every one of them, humiliated they go, the makers of idols.	16 ܒܗܬܘ ܘܐܚܦܪܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܕܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܒܚܦܪܐ ܘܓܠ̇ܦܝܢ ܦܬܟܪ̈ܐ
17 Israel wil be saved by Yahweh, saved everlastingly. You will never be ashamed or humiliated for everand ever.	17 ܦܘܪܩܢܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ̇ ܦܪܘܩܐ ܕܥ̈ܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܒܗܬܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܦܪܘܢ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ
18 For thus says Yahweh, the Creator of the heavens -- he is God, who shaped the earth and made it,who set it firm; he did not create it to be chaos, he formed it to be lived in: I am Yahweh, and there is no other.	18 ܡܛܠ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܒܪܐ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܗܘܝܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܓܒܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܥܒܕܗ̇ ܘܗܘܝܘ ܬܩܢܗ̇ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܒܪܗ̇ ܐܠܐ ܕܬܬܒ ܒܗ̇ ܒܪܝܬܗ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ
19 I have not spoken in secret, in some dark corner of the underworld. I did not say, 'Offspring of Jacob,search for me in chaos!' I am Yahweh: I proclaim saving justice, I say what is true.	19 ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܛܘܫܝܐ ܡܠ̇ܠܬ ܒܐܬܪܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܚܫܘܟܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܙܪܥܐ ܕܝܥܩܘܒ ܕܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܒܥܐܘܢܝ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܡܚܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܬܪܝܨܘܬܐ
20 Assemble, come, al of you gather round, survivors of the nations. They have no knowledge, thosewho parade their wooden idols and pray to a god that cannot save.	20 ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܘܬܘ ܘܐܬܩܪܒܘ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܦܨܝܢ ܡܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܕܫܩܠܘ ܩܝܣܐ ܓܠܝܦܐ ܘܨܠܝܘ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܐ ܦ̇ܪܩ
21 Speak up, present your case, let them put their heads together! Who foretold this in the past, whorevealed it long ago? Was it not I, Yahweh? There is no other god except me, no saving God, no Saviour exceptme!	21 ܚܘܘ ܘܩܪܘܒܘ ܘܐܬܡܠܟܘ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܡܢܘ ܐܫܡܥ ܗܕܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܘܡܢ ܪܫܝܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ ܐܠܗ ܠܒܪ ܡܢܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܘܦܪܘܩܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܒܪ ܡܢܝ
22 Turn to me and you wil be saved, al you ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is no other.	22 ܐܬܩܪܒܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܟܘܠܟܘܢ ܥܒܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܬܬܦܪܩܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܬܘܒ
23 By my own self I swear it; what comes from my mouth is saving justice, it is an irrevocable word: Alshall bend the knee to me, by me every tongue shall swear,	23 ܒܝ ܝܡ̇ܝܬ ܘܢܦܩܬ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܗܦܘܟ ܕܠܝ ܬܟܘܦ ܟܠ ܒܪܘܟ ܘܒܝ ܢܐܡܐ ܟܠ ܠܫܢ
24 saying, 'In Yahweh alone are saving justice and strength,' until al those who used to rage at him cometo him in shame.	24 ܘܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܗܝ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܥܫ̈ܝܢܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܘܢܒܗܬܘܢ ܟܠ ܕܣܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܠܟ
25 In Yahweh the whole race of Israel finds justice and glory.	25 ܒܝ ܢܫܬܒܚ ܘܢܙܕܕܩ ܟܠܗ ܙܪܥܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
