Isaiah 45

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Thus says Yahweh to his anointed one, to Cyrus whom, he says, I have grasped by his right hand, tomake the nations bow before him and to disarm kings, to open gateways before him so that their gates be closedno more:	1 Haec dicit Dominus de uncto suo Cyro: “ Apprehendi dexteram eius, ut subiciam ante faciem eius gentes et dorsa regum vertam et aperiam coram eo ianuas; et portae non claudentur.
2 I myself shal go before you, I shall level the heights, I shal shatter the bronze gateways, I shall smashthe iron bars.	2 Ego ante te ibo et montes humiliabo; portas aereas conteram et vectes ferreos confringam.
3 I shal give you secret treasures and hidden hoards of wealth, so that you will know that I am Yahweh,who cal you by your name, the God of Israel.	3 Et dabo tibi thesauros absconditos et divitias occultas, ut scias quia ego Dominus, qui vocavi te nomine tuo, Deus Israel.
4 It is for the sake of my servant Jacob and of Israel my chosen one, that I have cal ed you by your name,have given you a title though you do not know me.	4 Propter servum meum Iacob et Israel electum meum, et vocavi te nomine tuo; designavi te, et non cognovisti me.
5 I am Yahweh, and there is no other, there is no other God except me. Though you do not know me, Ihave armed you	5 Ego Dominus, et non est amplius: extra me non est Deus. Accinxi te, et non cognovisti me,
6 so that it may be known from east to west that there is no one except me. I am Yahweh, and there is noother,	6 ut sciant ab ortu solis et ab occidente quoniam absque me nullus est. Ego Dominus, et non est alter,
7 I form the light and I create the darkness, I make well-being, and I create disaster, I, Yahweh, do althese things.	7 formans lucem et creans tenebras, faciens pacem et creans malum: ego Dominus faciens omnia haec.
8 Rain down, you heavens, from above, and let the clouds pour down saving justice, let the earth openup and blossom with salvation, and let justice sprout with it; I, Yahweh, have created it!	8 Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant iustitiam; aperiatur terra et germinet salvationem; et iustitia oriatur simul: ego Dominus creavi eam ”.
9 Woe to anyone who argues with his Maker, one earthenware pot among many! Does the clay say to itspotter, 'What are you doing? Your work has no hands!'	9 Vae, qui contradicit fictori suo, testa de vasis fictilibus terrae! Numquid dicet lutum figulo suo: “ Quid facis? ” et “ Opus tuum absque manibus est ”?
10 Woe to anyone who asks a father, 'Why are you begetting?' and a woman, 'Why are you giving birth?'	10 Vae, qui dicit patri: “ Quid generas? ” et mulieri: “ Quid parturis? ”.
11 Thus says Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker: I am asked for signs regarding my sons, Iam given orders about the work I do.	11 Haec dicit Dominus, Sanctus Israel, plastes eius: “ Numquid ventura interrogatis me super filios meos et super opus manuum mearum mandatis mihi?
12 It was I who made the earth and I created human beings on it, mine were the hands that spread outthe heavens and I have given the orders to all their array.	12 Ego feci terram et hominem super eam creavi ego; manus meae tetenderunt caelos, et omni militiae eorum mandavi.
13 I myself have raised him in saving justice and I shall make all paths level for him. He will rebuild mycity and bring my exiles home without ransom or indemnity, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	13 Ego suscitavi eum in iustitia et omnes vias eius dirigam; ipse aedificabit civitatem meam et captivitatem meam dimittet non in pretio neque in muneribus ”, dicit Dominus exercituum.
14 Thus says Yahweh: The produce of Egypt, the commerce of Cush and the men of Seba, tall ofstature, wil come over to you and belong to you. They will fol ow you, walking in chains, they wil bow beforeyou, they wil pray to you, 'With you alone is God, and there is no other! The gods do not exist.'	14 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Labor Aegypti et negotiatio Aethiopiae et Sabaim viri sublimes ad te transibunt et tui erunt; post te ambulabunt, vincti manicis pergent et te adorabunt teque deprecabuntur: “Tantum in te est Deus, et non est absque te Deus!”.
15 Truly, you are a God who conceals himself, God of Israel, Saviour!	15 Vere tu es Deus absconditus, Deus Israel, salvator.
16 They are shamed and humbled, every one of them, humiliated they go, the makers of idols.	16 Confusi sunt et erubuerunt omnes, simul abierunt in confusionem fabricatores idolorum.
17 Israel wil be saved by Yahweh, saved everlastingly. You will never be ashamed or humiliated for everand ever.	17 Israel salvatus est in Domino salute aeterna; non confundemini et non erubescetis usque in saeculum saeculi.
18 For thus says Yahweh, the Creator of the heavens -- he is God, who shaped the earth and made it,who set it firm; he did not create it to be chaos, he formed it to be lived in: I am Yahweh, and there is no other.	18 Quia haec dicit Dominus, qui creavit caelos, ipse Deus, qui formavit terram et fecit eam, ipse fundavit eam; non ut vacua esset, creavit eam, ut habitaretur, formavit eam: “ Ego Dominus, et non est alius.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in some dark corner of the underworld. I did not say, 'Offspring of Jacob,search for me in chaos!' I am Yahweh: I proclaim saving justice, I say what is true.	19 Non in abscondito locutus sum, in loco terrae tenebroso; non dixi semini Iacob: “Frustra quaerite me”. Ego Dominus loquens iustitiam, annuntians recta.
20 Assemble, come, al of you gather round, survivors of the nations. They have no knowledge, thosewho parade their wooden idols and pray to a god that cannot save.	20 Congregamini et venite et accedite simul, qui salvati estis ex gentibus. Nescierunt, qui levant lignum sculpturae suae et rogant deum non salvantem.
21 Speak up, present your case, let them put their heads together! Who foretold this in the past, whorevealed it long ago? Was it not I, Yahweh? There is no other god except me, no saving God, no Saviour exceptme!	21 Annuntiate et venite et consiliamini simul. Quis auditum fecit hoc ab initio, ex tunc praedixit illud? Numquid non ego Dominus, et non est ultra Deus absque me? Deus iustus et salvans non est praeter me.
22 Turn to me and you wil be saved, al you ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is no other.	22 Convertimini ad me et salvi eritis, omnes fines terrae, quia ego Deus, et non est alius.
23 By my own self I swear it; what comes from my mouth is saving justice, it is an irrevocable word: Alshall bend the knee to me, by me every tongue shall swear,	23 In memetipso iuravi: Egressa est de ore meo iustitia, verbum, quod non revertetur; quia mihi curvabitur omne genu, et iurabit omnis lingua ”.
24 saying, 'In Yahweh alone are saving justice and strength,' until al those who used to rage at him cometo him in shame.	24 “ Tantum in Domino ” dicent “ sunt iustitiae et robur! ”. Ad eum venient et confundentur omnes, qui repugnant ei;
25 In Yahweh the whole race of Israel finds justice and glory.	25 in Domino iustificabitur et laudabitur omne semen Israel.
