Isaiah 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 That day Yahweh wil punish, with his unyielding sword, massive and strong, Leviathan the fleeingserpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he wil kil that dragon that lives in the sea.	1 En ce jour-là, avec son épée dure, grande et forte, Yahvé s’en prendra à Léviathan, le serpent fuyard, Léviathan, le serpent perfide; il tuera le dragon qui est dans la mer.
2 That day, sing of the splendid vineyard!	2 En ce jour-là vous direz: Chantez la vigne magnifique!
3 I, Yahweh, am its guardian, from time to time I water it; so that no harm befal it, I guard it night andday.	3 “Moi, Yahvé, j’en suis le gardien, sans cesse je l’arrose de peur que son feuillage ne tombe; nuit et jour je la garde.”
4 -I do not have a wall. Who can reduce me to brambles and thorn-bushes? -I shal make war andtrample on it and at the same time burn it.	4 “Je n’ai pas de clôture: d’où me viennent ces épines et ces ronces?” “Je leur ferai la guerre et les brûlerai toutes ensemble
5 Or should they beg for my protection, let them make their peace with me, peace let them make withme.	5 à moins qu’on se range sous ma tutelle et qu’on fasse la paix avec moi. Il faudra faire la paix avec moi.”
6 In days to come, Jacob will take root, Israel wil bud and blossom and the surface of the world be onevast harvest.	6 Dans l’avenir Jacob poussera des racines, Israël aura des bourgeons et des fleurs et ses fruits couvriront la face de la terre.
7 Has he struck him as he was struck by those who struck him? Has he murdered him as he wasmurdered by those who murdered him?	7 Yahvé ne l’a pas frappé comme il a frappé ceux qui l’opprimaient, il ne l’a pas exterminé comme il a fait pour ceux qui le massacraient.
8 By expel ing, by excluding him, you have executed a sentence, he has blown him away with a breathas rough as the east wind.	8 Il a pris à partie cette ville, il l’a vidée en les chassant par son souffle violent comme un jour de vent d’orient.
9 For that is how Jacob's guilt wil be forgiven, such wil be the result of renouncing his sin, when al thealtar-stones have been smashed to pieces like lumps of chalk, when the sacred poles and incense-altars standno longer.	9 Mais voici comment sera pardonnée la faute de Jacob, comment il effacera les traces de son péché: il devra mettre en pièces les autels, en écraser les pierres comme la pierre à chaux et ne laisser debout ni les idoles, ni les autels à parfums.
10 For the fortified city is abandoned now, deserted, forsaken as a desert where calves browse, wherethey lie down, destroying its branches.	10 La ville fortifiée est une solitude, une demeure abandonnée, inhabitée comme un désert; le veau en a fait sa pâture, il s’y couche et broute le feuillage.
11 When boughs go dry, they get burnt, women come and use them for firewood. Now, this is a peoplethat does not understand, and so its Maker wil not take pity on it, he who formed it wil not show it any mercy.	11 On brise les branches desséchées, puis les femmes viennent y mettre le feu. C’est que ce peuple est sans intelligence, c’est pourquoi son créateur n’a pas pitié de lui; celui qui l’a façonné ne l’épargne pas.
12 When that day comes, Yahweh wil start his threshing from the course of the River to the Torrent ofEgypt, and you will be gathered one by one, Israelites!	12 Cependant le jour viendra où Yahvé battra les épis depuis le Fleuve jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, et vous, fils d’Israël, vous serez ramassés un par un.
13 When that day comes, the great ram's-horn will be sounded, and those lost in Assyria will come, andthose banished to Egypt, and they wil worship Yahweh on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.	13 En ce jour-là la corne sonnera, les déportés d’Assyrie reviendront avec les exilés en terre d’Égypte; ils viendront se prosterner devant Yahvé, sur la montagne sainte à Jérusalem.
