Isaiah 11

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 A shoot wil spring from the stock of Jesse, a new shoot will grow from his roots.	1 וְיָצָא חֹטֶר מִגֵּזַע יִשָׁי וְנֵצֶר מִשָּׁרָשָׁיו יִפְרֶה
2 On him wil rest the spirit of Yahweh, the spirit of wisdom and insight, the spirit of counsel and power,the spirit of knowledge and fear of Yahweh:	2 וְנָחָה עָלָיו רוּחַ יְהוָה רוּחַ חָכְמָה וּבִינָה רוּחַ עֵצָה וּגְבוּרָה רוּחַ דַּעַת וְיִרְאַת יְהוָה
3 his inspiration wil lie in fearing Yahweh. His judgement wil not be by appearances. his verdict notgiven on hearsay.	3 וַהֲרִיחֹו בְּיִרְאַת יְהוָה וְלֹא־לְמַרְאֵה עֵינָיו יִשְׁפֹּוט וְלֹא־לְמִשְׁמַע אָזְנָיו יֹוכִיחַ
4 He will judge the weak with integrity and give fair sentence for the humblest in the land. He will strikethe country with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips bring death to the wicked.	4 וְשָׁפַט בְּצֶדֶק דַּלִּים וְהֹוכִיחַ בְּמִישֹׁור לְעַנְוֵי־אָרֶץ וְהִכָּה־אֶרֶץ בְּשֵׁבֶט פִּיו וּבְרוּחַ שְׂפָתָיו יָמִית רָשָׁע
5 Uprightness wil be the belt around his waist, and constancy the belt about his hips.	5 וְהָיָה צֶדֶק אֵזֹור מָתְנָיו וְהָאֱמוּנָה אֵזֹור חֲלָצָיו
6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the panther lie down with the kid, calf, lion and fat-stock beast together,with a little boy to lead them.	6 וְגָר זְאֵב עִם־כֶּבֶשׂ וְנָמֵר עִם־גְּדִי יִרְבָּץ וְעֵגֶל וּכְפִיר וּמְרִיא יַחְדָּו וְנַעַר קָטֹן נֹהֵג בָּם
7 The cow and the bear will graze, their young wil lie down together. The lion wil eat hay like the ox.	7 וּפָרָה וָדֹב תִּרְעֶינָה יַחְדָּו יִרְבְּצוּ יַלְדֵיהֶן וְאַרְיֵה כַּבָּקָר יֹאכַל־תֶּבֶן
8 The infant wil play over the den of the adder; the baby wil put his hand into the viper's lair.	8 וְשִׁעֲשַׁע יֹונֵק עַל־חֻר פָּתֶן וְעַל מְאוּרַת צִפְעֹונִי גָּמוּל יָדֹו הָדָה
9 No hurt, no harm wil be done on all my holy mountain, for the country wil be full of knowledge ofYahweh as the waters cover the sea.	9 לֹא־יָרֵעוּ וְלֹא־יַשְׁחִיתוּ בְּכָל־הַר קָדְשִׁי כִּי־מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ דֵּעָה אֶת־יְהוָה כַּמַּיִם לַיָּם מְכַסִּים׃ פ
10 That day, the root of Jesse, standing as a signal for the peoples, will be sought out by the nations andits home will be glorious.	10 וְהָיָה בַּיֹּום הַהוּא שֹׁרֶשׁ יִשַׁי אֲשֶׁר עֹמֵד לְנֵס עַמִּים אֵלָיו גֹּויִם יִדְרֹשׁוּ וְהָיְתָה מְנֻחָתֹו כָּבֹוד׃ פ
11 When that day comes, the Lord wil raise his hand a second time to ransom the remnant of his people,those stil left, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, Cush and Elam, from Shinar, Hamath and the islands ofthe Sea.	11 וְהָיָה ׀ בַּיֹּום הַהוּא יֹוסִיף אֲדֹנָי ׀ שֵׁנִית יָדֹו לִקְנֹות אֶת־שְׁאָר עַמֹּו אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֵר מֵאַשּׁוּר וּמִמִּצְרַיִם וּמִפַּתְרֹוס וּמִכּוּשׁ וּמֵעֵילָם וּמִשִּׁנְעָר וּמֵחֲמָת וּמֵאִיֵּי הַיָּם
12 He wil hoist a signal for the nations and assemble the outcasts of Israel; he wil gather the scatteredpeople of Judah from the four corners of the earth.	12 וְנָשָׂא נֵס לַגֹּויִם וְאָסַף נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּנְפֻצֹות יְהוּדָה יְקַבֵּץ מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפֹות הָאָרֶץ
13 Then Ephraim's jealousy wil cease and Judah's enemies be suppressed; Ephraim wil no longer bejealous of Judah nor Judah any longer hostile to Ephraim,	13 וְסָרָה קִנְאַת אֶפְרַיִם וְצֹרְרֵי יְהוּדָה יִכָּרֵתוּ אֶפְרַיִם לֹא־יְקַנֵּא אֶת־יְהוּדָה וִיהוּדָה לֹא־יָצֹר אֶת־אֶפְרָיִם
14 but together they will swoop on the Philistines' back, to the west, and together pil age the people ofthe east. Edom and Moab wil be subject to their sway and the Ammonites wil obey them.	14 וְעָפוּ בְכָתֵף פְּלִשְׁתִּים יָמָּה יַחְדָּו יָבֹזּוּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶדֶם אֱדֹום וּמֹואָב מִשְׁלֹוח יָדָם וּבְנֵי עַמֹּון מִשְׁמַעְתָּם
15 Then Yahweh wil dry up the gulf of the Sea of Egypt, he will raise his hand against the River with theheat of his breath. He wil divide it into seven streams for them to cross dry-shod.	15 וְהֶחֱרִים יְהוָה אֵת לְשֹׁון יָם־מִצְרַיִם וְהֵנִיף יָדֹו עַל־הַנָּהָר בַּעְיָם רוּחֹו וְהִכָּהוּ לְשִׁבְעָה נְחָלִים וְהִדְרִיךְ בַּנְּעָלִים
16 And there wil be a highway for the remnant of his people for those stil left, from Assyria, as there wasfor Israel when he came out of Egypt.	16 וְהָיְתָה מְסִלָּה לִשְׁאָר עַמֹּו אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֵר מֵאַשּׁוּר כַּאֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּיֹום עֲלֹתֹו מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
