Sirach 35

New Jerusalem Bible Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.1 Chi osserva la legge moltiplica l’offerta;
Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.2 offre vittime pacifiche chi si attiene ai comandamenti.
To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.3 Chi ringrazia sacrifica fior di farina;
Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.4 chi fa l’elemosina offre un sacrificio di lode.
The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.5 Piace al Signore che uno si allontani dal male; è propiziato, se si lascia l’ingiustizia.
The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.6 Non presentarti a mani vuote innanzi al Signore,
Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.7 perché queste sono cose da fare in quanto comandate.
Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.8 L’offerta del giusto impingua l'altare e il soave odore sale all'Altissimo.
Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;9 Il sacrificio dell’uomo giusto è accetto e il ricordo non si perde.
for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.10 Onora il Signore con liberalità e non ridurre le primizie delle tue mani.
Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;11 Per ogni dono renditi ilare nel volto e offri con gioia le tue decime,
for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.12 Dona all’Altissimo come lui ha donato a te: con larghezza, secondo quanto hai alla mano,
He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.13 perché il Signore retribuisce e ti ridà sette volte.
He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.14 Non corromperlo con doni, perché non li riceve;
Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?15 né aver fiducia in un sacrificio ingiusto, perché Dio è giudice e non guarda in faccia a nessuno.
Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.16 Egli non favorisce nessuno contro il povero e ascolta la preghiera di chi è oppresso,
The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,17 Egli non trascura la supplica dell’orfano né della vedova, quando questa si lamenta molto con lui.
nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.18 Le lacrime non le discendono sulle gote
And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,19 e i gemiti sulle sue molestie?
until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,20 Le amarezze sono accolte benignamente e il suo grido si affretta verso le nubi,
until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,21 Il grido del misero va oltre le nubi e non si ferma finché non è giunto; non si allontana finché Dio non intervenga,
until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,22 il giudice giusto non faccia giustizia. Nemmeno Dio indugia; e come un prode non si frena finché non spia le reni al crudele
until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.23 e faccia vendetta delle genti, finché non stronchi il dominio superbo e non infranga lo scettro dell’empio;
Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.24 finché non ripaghi all’uomo il suo agire e lo ricompensi secondo i suoi pensieri;
finché non faccia giustizia al suo popolo e gli doni la gioia della salvezza.
La misericordia di Dio durante l’oppressione è una nuvola di pioggia in periodo di siccità.
