Sirach 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.	1 Chi osserva la legge vale quanto molte offerte;
2 Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.	2 chi adempie i comandamenti offre un sacrificio che salva.
3 To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.	3 Chi ricambia un favore offre fior di farina,
4 Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.	4 chi pratica l’elemosina fa sacrifici di lode.
5 The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.	5 Cosa gradita al Signore è tenersi lontano dalla malvagità, sacrificio di espiazione è tenersi lontano dall’ingiustizia.
6 The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.	6 Non presentarti a mani vuote davanti al Signore,
7 Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.	7 perché tutto questo è comandato.
8 Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.	8 L’offerta del giusto arricchisce l’altare, il suo profumo sale davanti all’Altissimo.
9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;	9 Il sacrificio dell’uomo giusto è gradito, il suo ricordo non sarà dimenticato.
10 for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.	10 Glorifica il Signore con occhio contento, non essere avaro nelle primizie delle tue mani.
11 Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;	11 In ogni offerta mostra lieto il tuo volto, con gioia consacra la tua decima.
12 for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.	12 Da’ all’Altissimo secondo il dono da lui ricevuto, e con occhio contento, secondo la tua possibilità,
13 He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.	13 perché il Signore è uno che ripaga e ti restituirà sette volte tanto.
14 He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.	14 Non corromperlo con doni, perché non li accetterà,
15 Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?	15 e non confidare in un sacrificio ingiusto, perché il Signore è giudice e per lui non c’è preferenza di persone.
16 Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.	16 Non è parziale a danno del povero e ascolta la preghiera dell’oppresso.
17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,	17 Non trascura la supplica dell’orfano, né la vedova, quando si sfoga nel lamento.
18 nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.	18 Le lacrime della vedova non scendono forse sulle sue guance
19 And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,	19 e il suo grido non si alza contro chi gliele fa versare?
20 until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,	20 Chi la soccorre è accolto con benevolenza, la sua preghiera arriva fino alle nubi.
21 until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,	21 La preghiera del povero attraversa le nubi né si quieta finché non sia arrivata; non desiste finché l’Altissimo non sia intervenuto
22 until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,	22 e abbia reso soddisfazione ai giusti e ristabilito l’equità. Il Signore certo non tarderà né si mostrerà paziente verso di loro, finché non abbia spezzato le reni agli spietati
23 until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.	23 e si sia vendicato delle nazioni, finché non abbia estirpato la moltitudine dei violenti e frantumato lo scettro degli ingiusti,
24 Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.	24 finché non abbia reso a ciascuno secondo il suo modo di agire e giudicato le opere degli uomini secondo le loro intenzioni,
	25 finché non abbia fatto giustizia al suo popolo e lo abbia allietato con la sua misericordia.
	26 Splendida è la misericordia nel momento della tribolazione, come le nubi apportatrici di pioggia nel tempo della siccità.
