Sirach 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.	1 Fa molte obblazioni chi osserva la legge:
2 Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.	2 Sagrifizio di salute egli è il custodire i comandamenti, e allontanarsi da ogni iniquità.
3 To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.	3 Il fuggir l'ingiustizia è un offerir sacrifizio di propiziazione per le in giustizie, e rimuovere la pena de' peccati.
4 Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.	4 Rende grazie a Dio colui, che offerisce il fior di farina; e colui, che fa l'opra di misericordia offerisce un sagrifizio.
5 The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.	5 Quello, che piace al Signore si è la fuga dell'iniquità, e si rimuove la pena de' peccati coll'allontanarsi dalla ingiustizia.
6 The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.	6 Non comparir dinanzi al Signore colle mani vuote;
7 Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.	7 Perocché tutte queste cose si fanno per comandamento del Signore.
8 Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.	8 L'obblazione del giusto impingua l'altare, ed è un odore soave nel cospetto dell'Altissimo.
9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;	9 Il sagrifizio del giusto è gradito, e non se ne dimenticherà il Signore.
10 for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.	10 Con lieto animo rendi onore a Dio, e non isminuire le primizie di tue fatiche.
11 Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;	11 Tutto quello, che dai, dallo con volto ilare, e santifica le tue decime colla tua letizia.
12 for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.	12 Da all'Altissimo a proporzione di quello, che egli ti ha dato, e con lieto occhio offerisci secondo le tue facoltà;
13 He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.	13 Perocché Dio è rimuneratore, e renderà a te il settuplo.
14 He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.	14 Non offerire doni di rifiuto; perocché Dio non gli accetterà.
15 Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?	15 E non far capitale sopra un sagrifizio ingiusto, perché il Signore è giudice, ed egli non ha riguardo alla gloria delle persone.
16 Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.	16 Il Signore non fa accettazione di persone in danno del povero; ed esaudisce la preghiera di lui quand'è offeso.
17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,	17 Egli non disprezza il pupillo, che to prega, né la vedova, che gli parla co' suoi sospiri.
18 nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.	18 Le lagrime della vedova, che scorron sulle sue guance, non son elleno tante grida contro di lui, che le fa scorrere.
19 And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,	19 Dalle guance di lei salgono insino al cielo, e il Signore, che esaudisce non le vedrà con piacere.
20 until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,	20 Chi adora Dio con buona volontà, sarà ajutato, e la preghiera di lui arriverà sino alle nubi.
21 until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,	21 L'orazione di colui, che si umilia, penetrerà le nubi, ed ella non si darà posa fino, che si avvicini all'Altissimo, e non ne partirà, fino a tanto che egli a lei volga lo sguardo.
22 until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,	22 Il Signore non differirà, ma vendicherà i giusti, e farà giustizia, e il Fortissimo non sarà paziente riguardo ad essi; ma aggraverà di tribolazioni il dorso di coloro:
23 until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.	23 E punirà le nazioni fino a tanto, che abbia annichilata la moltitudine de' superbi, e spezzati gli scettri iniqui:
24 Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.	24 Fino a tanto, che abbia renduta mercede agli uomini secondo le opere loro, e secondo le opere dell'uomo, e secondo la presunzione di lui.
	25 Fino a tanto, che abbia fatto giustizia al suo popolo, e abbia consolati i giusti colla sua misericordia.
	26 Amabile la misericordia di Dio nel tempo di tribolazione come la piovosa nuvola in tempo di siccità.
