Sirach 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.	1 - Chi osserva la legge, fa [con ciò stesso] molte oblazioni:
2 Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.	2 è un sacrifizio di ringraziamento è badare ai comandamenti, e allontanarsi da ogni iniquità.
3 To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.	3 È offrire un sacrifizio di propiziazione per le ingiustizie, ed è una espiazione de' peccati, l'allontanarsi dall'ingiustizia.
4 Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.	4 Chi mostra riconoscenza, fa un'oblazione di fior di farina, e chi usa misericordia, offre un sacrifizio [di lode].
5 The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.	5 Gradito è al Signore l'allontanarsi dall'Iniquità, ed espiazione de' peccati è l'allontanarsi dall'ingiustizia
6 The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.	6 Non comparire al cospetto del Signore a mani vuote,
7 Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.	7 perchè tutte queste cose si fanno per comando di Dio
8 Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.	8 L'oblazione del giusto impingua l'altare, e il [suo] soave odore è al cospetto dell'Altissimo
9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;	9 Il sacrifizio del giusto è accetto, e non ne perderà memoria il Signore.
10 for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.	10 Di buon animo dà gloria a Dio, e non lesinare sulle primizie delle tue mani.
11 Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;	11 In ogni offerta mostra ilare il tuo volto, e con esultanza consacra le tue decime.
12 for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.	12 Dà all'Altissimo a seconda di quel che t'ha dato, e offri con ilare occhio [a seconda del] guadagno delle tue mani.
13 He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.	13 Perchè il Signore è rimuneratore, e ti renderà sette volte tanto.
14 He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.	14 Non offrir cattivi doni, perchè Dio non gli accetterà, e non far caso d'un sacrifizio ingiusto, perchè il Signore è giudice,
15 Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?	15 e non c'è presso di lui [riguardo a] dignità di persona
16 Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.	16 Non fa parzialità il Signore a danno del povero, e ascolta le preghiere dell'offeso.
17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,	17 Non disprezza la supplica dell'orfano, nè la vedova che dà sfogo al suo lamento.
18 nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.	18 Non scorron forse sulla gota le lagrime della vedova? e non [si leva] il suo grido contro chi le fa scorrere?
19 And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,	19 Dalla gota salgono sino al cielo, e il Signore, che esaudisce, non ci avrà gusto.
20 until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,	20 Chi adora Dio secondo il beneplacito di lui, sarà accolto, e la sua preghiera arriverà sino alle nubi.
21 until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,	21 La preghiera del tapino penetrerà le nuvole, e finche non abbia raggiunto [Iddio], e' non si darà pace, nè si allontanerà finché l'Altissimo non le badi;
22 until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,	22 e il Signore non indugerà, ma giudicherà in favore de' giusti e farà giustizia. E il Fortissimo non userà pazienza con gli [oppressori], e stritolerà loro le reni,
23 until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.	23 e farà vendetta delle genti: fino a che abbia annientato la moltitudine de' superbi, e spezzati gli scettri degli empi;
24 Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.	24 fino a che abbia reso agli uomini a seconda delle loro azioni, e [riparate] le opere degli uomini secondo i loro propositi;
	25 fino a che abbia fatto giustizia al suo popolo, e allietati i giusti con la sua misericordia.
	26 Amabile è la misericordia di Dio nel tempo della tribolazione, come la nuvola di pioggia in tempo di siccità.
