1 There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:	1 Ogni cosa ha il suo tempo, e dentro lo spazio ad esse assegnato passano tutte le cose sotto del cielo.
2 A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted.	2 Tempo di nascere, e tempo di morire, tempo di piantare, e tempo di sradicare quello che fu piantato.
3 A time for kil ing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building.	3 Tempo di uccidere, e tempo di sanare, tempo di demolire, e tempo di edificare.
4 A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing.	4 Tempo di piangere, e tempo di ridere, tempo di duolo, e tempo di saltare.
5 A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain fromembracing.	5 Tempo di gettare le pietre, e tempo di raccoglierle. Tempo di abbracciare, e tempo di evitare gli abbracciamenti.
6 A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding.	6 Tempo di far guadagno, e tempo di scapitare; tempo di tener conto, e tempo di gettar via.
7 A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking.	7 Tempo di dividere, e tempo di riunire, tempo di tacere, e tempo di parlare.
8 A time for loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace.	8 Tempo di amore, e tempo di odio; tempo di guerra, e tempo di pace.
9 What do people gain from the efforts they make?	9 Qual frutto ha l'uomo di sue fatiche?
10 I contemplate the task that God gives humanity to labour at.	10 Vidi l'afflizione data da Dio a' figliuoli degli uomini, affinchè in essa si consumino.
11 All that he does is apt for its time; but although he has given us an awareness of the passage of time,we can grasp neither the beginning nor the end of what God does.	11 Tutte le cose, che egli ha fatte, ciascuna a suo tempo sono buone: ed egli abbandonò il mondo alle loro disputazioni, senza chè l'uomo discuopra l'opera fatta da Dio dal principio insino al fine.
12 I know there is no happiness for a human being except in pleasure and enjoyment through life.	12 Ed io riconobbi, che altro di meglio non vi è, che di star lieto, e fare il bene in questa vita.
13 And when we eat and drink and find happiness in all our achievements, this is a gift from God.	13 Perocché che un uomo mangi, e beva, e vegga il frutto di sue fatiche; questo è dono di Dio.
14 I know that whatever God does wil be for ever. To this there is nothing to add, from this there isnothing to subtract, and the way God acts inspires dread.	14 Io imparai che tutte le opere fatte da Dio durano perpetuamente: non possiamo nulla torre, né aggiungere alle cose, che Dio creò affin di essere temuto.
15 What is, has been already, what will be, is already; God seeks out anyone who is persecuted.	15 Quello, che fu fatto, dura; quelle cose, che son per essere, furon già, e Dio rinnovella quello, che passò.
16 Again I observe under the sun: crime is where justice should be, the criminal is where the uprightshould be.	16 Vidi sotto del sole nel luogo del giudizio la empietà, e nel luogo della giustizia l'iniquità.
17 And I think to myself: the upright and the criminal will both be judged by God, since there is a time forevery thing and every action here.	17 E dissi in cuor mio: Dio farà giudizio del giusto, e dell'empio: e quello sarà il tempo (di trattare) di ogni cosa.
18 I think to myself: where human beings are concerned, this is so that God can test them and show themthat they are animals.	18 Dissi in cuor mio riguardo ai figliuoli degli uomini, che Dio li provava col far vedere, che sono simili alle bestie.
19 For the fate of human and the fate of animal is the same: as the one dies, so the other dies; both havethe selfsame breath. Human is in no way better off than animal -- since al is futile.	19 Per questo muojono gli uomini come le bestie, ed è uguale la sorte loro: come muore l'uomo, così muojono quelle: nello stesso modo respirano le une, e gli altri: e l'uomo non ha nulla di più della bestia, tutto è soggetto alla vanità,
20 Everything goes to the same place, everything comes from the dust, everything returns to the dust.	20 E tutto cammina verso uno stesso luogo; sono tutti tratti dalla terra, e alla terra similmente ritornano.
21 Who knows if the human spirit mounts upward or if the animal spirit goes downward to the earth?	21 Chi sa se lo spirito de' figliuoli di Adamo salga in alto, e se lo spirito delle bestie scenda al basso?
22 I see there is no contentment for a human being except happiness in achievement; such is the lot of ahuman beings. No one can tel us what wil happen after we are gone.	22 Or io riconobbi non esservi nulla di meglio,che il consolarsi l'uomo nelle opere sue; perocché chi lo condurrà a vedere quel, che dopo di lui sarà?
