NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:	1 Hay un momento para todo y un tiempo para cada cosa bajo el sol:
2 A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted.	2 un tiempo para nacer y un tiempo para morir, un tiempo para plantar y un tiempo para arrancar lo plantado;
3 A time for kil ing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building.	3 un tiempo para matar y un tiempo para curar, un tiempo para demoler y un tiempo para edificar;
4 A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing.	4 un tiempo para llorar y un tiempo para reír, un tiempo para lamentarse y un tiempo para bailar;
5 A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain fromembracing.	5 un tiempo para arrojar piedras y un tiempo para recogerlas, un tiempo para abrazarse y un tiempo para separarse;
6 A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding.	6 un tiempo para buscar y un tiempo para perder, un tiempo para guardar y un tiempo para tirar;
7 A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking.	7 un tiempo para rasgar y un tiempo para coser, un tiempo para callar y un tiempo para hablar;
8 A time for loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace.	8 un tiempo para amar y un tiempo para odiar, un tiempo de guerra y un tiempo de paz.
9 What do people gain from the efforts they make?	9 ¿Qué provecho obtiene el trabajador con su esfuerzo?
10 I contemplate the task that God gives humanity to labour at.	10 Yo vi la tarea que Dios impuso a los hombres para que se ocupen de ella.
11 All that he does is apt for its time; but although he has given us an awareness of the passage of time,we can grasp neither the beginning nor the end of what God does.	11 El hizo todas las cosas apropiadas a su tiempo, pero también puso en el corazón del hombre el sentido del tiempo pasado y futuro, sin que el hombre pueda descubrir la obra que hace Dios desde el principio hasta el fin.
12 I know there is no happiness for a human being except in pleasure and enjoyment through life.	12 Yo comprendí que lo único bueno para el hombre es alegrarse y buscar el bienestar en la vida.
13 And when we eat and drink and find happiness in all our achievements, this is a gift from God.	13 Después de todo, que un hombre coma y beba y goce del bienestar con su esfuerzo, eso es un don de Dios.
14 I know that whatever God does wil be for ever. To this there is nothing to add, from this there isnothing to subtract, and the way God acts inspires dread.	14 Yo reconocí que todo lo que hace Dios dura para siempre: no hay que añadirle ni quitarle nada, y Dios obra así para que se tenga temor en su presencia.
15 What is, has been already, what will be, is already; God seeks out anyone who is persecuted.	15 Lo que es, ya fue antes, lo que ha de ser, ya existió, y Dios va en busca de lo que es fugaz.
16 Again I observe under the sun: crime is where justice should be, the criminal is where the uprightshould be.	16 Yo he visto algo más bajo el sol: en lugar del derecho, la maldad y en lugar de la justicia, la iniquidad.
17 And I think to myself: the upright and the criminal will both be judged by God, since there is a time forevery thing and every action here.	17 Entonces me dije a mí mismo: Dios juzgará al justo y al malvado, porque allá hay un tiempo para cada cosa y para cada acción.
18 I think to myself: where human beings are concerned, this is so that God can test them and show themthat they are animals.	18 Yo pensé acerca de los hombres: si Dios los prueba, es para que vean que no se distinguen de los animales.
19 For the fate of human and the fate of animal is the same: as the one dies, so the other dies; both havethe selfsame breath. Human is in no way better off than animal -- since al is futile.	19 Porque los hombres y los animales tienen todos la misma suerte: como mueren unos, mueren también los otros. Todos tienen el mismo aliento vital y el hombre no es superior a las bestias, porque todo es vanidad.
20 Everything goes to the same place, everything comes from the dust, everything returns to the dust.	20 Todos van hacia el mismo lugar; todo viene del polvo y todo retorna al polvo.
21 Who knows if the human spirit mounts upward or if the animal spirit goes downward to the earth?	21 ¿Quién sabe si el aliento del hombre sube hacia lo alto, y si el aliento del animal baja a lo profundo de la tierra?
22 I see there is no contentment for a human being except happiness in achievement; such is the lot of ahuman beings. No one can tel us what wil happen after we are gone.	22 Por eso, yo vi que lo único bueno para el hombre es alegrarse de sus obras, ya que esta es su parte: ¿Quién, en efecto, lo llevará a ver lo que habrá después de él?
