NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:	1 Il y a un moment pour tout et un temps pour toute chose sous le ciel.
2 A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted.	2 Un temps pour enfanter, et un temps pour mourir; un temps pour planter, et un temps pourarracher le plant.
3 A time for kil ing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building.	3 Un temps pour tuer, et un temps pour guérir; un temps pour détruire, et un temps pour bâtir.
4 A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing.	4 Un temps pour pleurer, et un temps pour rire; un temps pour gémir, et un temps pour danser.
5 A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain fromembracing.	5 Un temps pour lancer des pierres, et un temps pour en ramasser; un temps pour embrasser, et untemps pour s'abstenir d'embrassements.
6 A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding.	6 Un temps pour chercher, et un temps pour perdre; un temps pour garder, et un temps pour jeter.
7 A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking.	7 Un temps pour déchirer, et un temps pour coudre; un temps pour se taire, et un temps pourparler.
8 A time for loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace.	8 Un temps pour aimer, et un temps pour haïr; un temps pour la guerre, et un temps pour la paix.
9 What do people gain from the efforts they make?	9 Quel profit celui qui travaille trouve-t-il à la peine qu'il prend?
10 I contemplate the task that God gives humanity to labour at.	10 Je regarde la tâche que Dieu donne aux enfants des hommes:
11 All that he does is apt for its time; but although he has given us an awareness of the passage of time,we can grasp neither the beginning nor the end of what God does.	11 tout ce qu'il fait convient en son temps. Il a mis dans leur coeur l'ensemble du temps, mais sansque l'homme puisse saisir ce que Dieu fait, du commencement à la fin.
12 I know there is no happiness for a human being except in pleasure and enjoyment through life.	12 Et je sais qu'il n'y a pas de bonheur pour l'homme, sinon dans le plaisir et le bien-être durant savie.
13 And when we eat and drink and find happiness in all our achievements, this is a gift from God.	13 Et si un homme mange, boit et trouve le bonheur dans son travail, cela est un don de Dieu.
14 I know that whatever God does wil be for ever. To this there is nothing to add, from this there isnothing to subtract, and the way God acts inspires dread.	14 Je sais que tout ce que Dieu fait sera pour toujours. A cela il n'y a rien à ajouter, de cela il n'y arien à retrancher, et Dieu fait en sorte qu'on le craigne.
15 What is, has been already, what will be, is already; God seeks out anyone who is persecuted.	15 Ce qui est fut déjà; ce qui sera est déjà. Or Dieu recherche le persécuté.
16 Again I observe under the sun: crime is where justice should be, the criminal is where the uprightshould be.	16 Je regarde encore sous le soleil: à la place du droit, là se trouve le crime, à la place du juste setrouve le criminel;
17 And I think to myself: the upright and the criminal will both be judged by God, since there is a time forevery thing and every action here.	17 et je me dis en moi-même: le juste et le criminel, Dieu les jugera, car il y a un temps pourtoutes choses et pour toute action ici.
18 I think to myself: where human beings are concerned, this is so that God can test them and show themthat they are animals.	18 Je me dis en moi-même, en ce qui concerne les enfants des hommes: c'est pour que Dieu leséprouve et leur montre qu'ils sont des bêtes.
19 For the fate of human and the fate of animal is the same: as the one dies, so the other dies; both havethe selfsame breath. Human is in no way better off than animal -- since al is futile.	19 Car le sort de l'homme et le sort de la bête sont un sort identique: comme meurt l'un, ainsimeurt l'autre, et c'est un même souffle qu'ils ont tous les deux. La supériorité de l'homme sur la bête est nulle, cartout est vanité.
20 Everything goes to the same place, everything comes from the dust, everything returns to the dust.	20 Tout s'en va vers un même lieu: tout vient de la poussière, tout s'en retourne à la poussière.
21 Who knows if the human spirit mounts upward or if the animal spirit goes downward to the earth?	21 Qui sait si le souffle de l'homme monte vers le haut et si le souffle de la bête descend en bas,vers la terre?
22 I see there is no contentment for a human being except happiness in achievement; such is the lot of ahuman beings. No one can tel us what wil happen after we are gone.	22 Je vois qu'il n'y a de bonheur pour l'homme qu'à se réjouir de ses oeuvres, car c'est là sa part.Qui donc l'emmènera voir ce qui sera après lui?
