Proverbs 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,	1 Figlio mio, non ti dimenticare della mia legge e custodisci nel tuo cuore i miei insegnamenti,
2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.	2 perchè essi ti frutteranno lunghi giorni, anni di vita e di pace.
3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.	3 Bontà e fedeltà non t'abbandonino mai: legatelo al collo, scrivetele sulla tavola del cuore,
4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.	4 e troverai grazia e avrai ottimi costumi davanti a Dio e davanti agli uomini.
5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;	5 Con tutto il tuo cuore abbi fiducia nel Signore e non t'appoggiare alla tua prudenza.
6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.	6 In tutte le tue vie pensa a lui, ed Egli guiderà i tuoi passi.
7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:	7 Non ti stimare saggio da te stesso: temi Dio o fuggi il male;
8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.	8 o sarà di salute al tuo corpo e di refrigerio alle tue ossa.
9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;	9 Onora Dio coi tuoi beni e colle primizie d'ogni tua rendita;
10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.	10 e i tuoi granai saranno pieni zeppi, e i tuoi tini rigurgiteranno di vino.
11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;	11 Non disdegnare, figlio mio, la disciplina del Signore, e non ti sgomentare quando Egli ti castiga;
12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.	12 perchè il Signore corregge quello che egli ama, come un padre fa al figlio suo diletto.
13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!	13 Beato l'uomo che ha acquistato la sapienza ed è ricco di prudenza.
14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.	14 L'acquisto di lei vai più di quello dell'argento e il suo frutto vai più dell'oro preziosissimo.
15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.	15 Essa vai più di tutte le ricchezze, e le cose più stimate non possono essere paragonate a lei.
16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.	16 Ha nella destra lunga vita, nella sinistra ricchezze e gloria.
17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.	17 Le sue vie son vie belle e tutti di pace i suoi sentieri.
18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.	18 Essa è l'albero della vita per chi l'abbraccia, ed è felice chi la tiene stretta,
19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.	19 il Signore colla sapienza fondò la terra e colla prudenza rese stabili i cieli.
20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.	20 Per la sapienza di lui scaturiron le sorgenti e le nubi si caricaron di rugiada.
21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;	21 Figlio mio, non perder mai di vista queste cose; abbi sempre regola e riflessione;
22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.	22 e ciò sarà vita per l'anima tua e ornamento pel tuo collo.
23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.	23 Allora tu camminerai con sicurezza per la tua strada e il tuo piede non avrà inciampi.
24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.	24 Se dormirai non avrai spaventi, e, coricandoti, sarà dolce il tuo sonno.
25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,	25 Non avrai da temere per subitaneo terrore, nè per gli attacchi violenti degli empi.
26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.	26 perchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, preserverà il tuo piede, in modo che tu non sia preso.
27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.	27 Non impedire a chi può di far del bene, e, se puoi, fallo anche tu.
28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.	28 Non dire al tuo amico: «V a e ritorna; domani ti darò » quando tu puoi dar subito.
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.	29 Non tramar alcun male contro il tuo amico, mentre egli si fida di te.
30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.	30 Senza ragione non litigare con nessuno, quand'egli non t'ha fatto alcun male.
31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;	31 Non ti fare emulo l'uomo ingiusto. Non imitare la sua condotta.
32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.	32 Perchè il Signore ha in abbominio gli schernitori, e conversa amichevolmente con i semplici.
33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.	33 La povertà (vien mandata) dal Signore nella casa dell'empio, ma lo abitazioni dei giusti saran benedette.
34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.	34 Egli schernirà gli schernitori e darà la grazia ai mansueti.
35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.	35 I saggi possederanno la gloria, e l'esaltamento degli insensati finirà nell'ignominia.
