NEW JERUSALEMKING JAMES BIBLE
My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
