Proverbs 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,	1 Hijo mío, no olvides mi enseñanza, y que tu corazón observe mis mandamientos,
2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.	2 porque ellos te aportarán largos días, años de vida y prosperidad.
3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.	3 Que nunca te abandonen la buena fe y la lealtad: átalas a tu cuello. escríbelas sobre la tabla de tu corazón,
4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.	4 y encontrarás favor y aprobación a los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.
5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;	5 Confía en el Señor y de todo corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia;
6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.	6 reconócelo a él en todos sus caminos y él allanará tus senderos.
7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:	7 No seas sabio a tus propios ojos, teme al Señor y apártate del mal:
8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.	8 eso será un remedio para tu carne y savia para tus huesos.
9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;	9 Honra al Señor con tus bienes y con las primicias de todas tus ganancias:
10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.	10 así tus graneros se llenarán de trigo y tus lagares desbordarán de vino nuevo.
11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;	11 No desprecies, hijo mío, la corrección del Señor, ni te disgustes cuando él te reprende,
12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.	12 porque el Señor reprende a los que ama como un padre a su hijo muy querido.
13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!	13 ¡Feliz el hombre que encontró la sabiduría y el que obtiene la inteligencia,
14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.	14 porque ganarla vale más que la plata y ella rinde más que el oro fino!
15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.	15 Es más preciosa que las perlas y nada apetecible se le puede igualar.
16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.	16 En su mano derecha hay larga vida, y en su izquierda, riqueza y gloria.
17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.	17 Sus caminos son caminos deliciosos y todos sus senderos son apacibles.
18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.	18 Es un árbol de vida para los que se aferran a ella y los que la retienen son felices.
19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.	19 Por la sabiduría, el Señor fundó la tierra, por la inteligencia, afianzó los cielos;
20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.	20 por su ciencia brotaron los océanos y las nubes destilan el rocío.
21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;	21 Conserva, hijo mío, la prudencia y la reflexión; que ellas no se aparten de tus ojos.
22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.	22 Ellas serán vida para tu alma y gracia para tu cuello.
23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.	23 Entonces irás seguro por el camino y tu pie no tropezará.
24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.	24 Si te acuestas, no temblarás, y una vez acostado, tu sueño será agradable.
25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,	25 No temerás ningún sobresalto ni a los malvados que llegan como una tormenta.
26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.	26 Porque el Señor será tu seguridad y preservará tu pie de la trampa.
27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.	27 No niegues un beneficio al que lo necesite, siempre que esté en tus manos hacerlo.
28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.	28 No digas a tu prójimo: «Vuelve después, mañana te daré», si tienes con qué ayudarlo.
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.	29 No trames el mal contra tu prójimo, mientras vive confiado junto a ti.
30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.	30 No litigues con un hombre sin motivo, si no te ha causado ningún mal.
31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;	31 No envidies al hombre violento ni elijas ninguno de sus caminos.
32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.	32 Porque el hombre perverso es abominable para el Señor, y él reserva su intimidad para los rectos.
33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.	33 La maldición del Señor está en la casa del malvado, pero él bendice la morada de los justos.
34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.	34 El se burla de los insolentes y concede su favor a los humildes.
35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.	35 Los sabios heredarán la gloria, pero los necios cargarán con la ignominia.
