Proverbs 3

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,	1 Figliuol mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento; E il cuor tuo guardi i miei comandamenti;
2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.	2 Perchè ti aggiungeranno lunghezza di giorni, Ed anni di vita, e prosperità.
3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.	3 Benignità e verità non ti abbandoneranno; Legateli in su la gola, scrivili in su la tavola del tuo cuore;
4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.	4 E tu troverai grazia e buon senno Appo Iddio, ed appo gli uomini.
5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;	5 Confidati nel Signore con tutto il tuo cuore; E non appoggiarti in su la tua prudenza.
6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.	6 Riconoscilo in tutte le tue vie, Ed egli addirizzerà i tuoi sentieri
7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:	7 Non reputarti savio appo te stesso; Temi il Signore, e ritratti dal male.
8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.	8 Ciò sarà una medicina al tuo bellico, Ed un inaffiamento alle tue ossa.
9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;	9 Onora il Signore con le tue facoltà, E con le primizie d’ogni tua rendita;
10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.	10 Ed i tuoi granai saran ripieni di beni in ogni abbondanza, E le tue tigne traboccheranno di mosto.
11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;	11 Figliuol mio, non disdegnar la correzione del Signore; E non ti rincresca il suo gastigamento;
12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.	12 Perciocchè il Signore gastiga chi egli ama; Anzi come un padre il figliuolo ch’egli gradisce
13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!	13 Beato l’uomo che ha trovata sapienza, E l’uomo che ha ottenuto intendimento.
14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.	14 Perciocchè il traffico di essa è migliore che il traffico dell’argento, E la sua rendita è migliore che l’oro.
15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.	15 Ella è più preziosa che le perle; E tutto ciò che tu hai di più caro non la pareggia.
16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.	16 Lunghezza di giorni è alla sua destra; Ricchezza e gloria alla sua sinistra.
17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.	17 Le sue vie son vie dilettevoli, E tutti i suoi sentieri sono pace.
18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.	18 Ella è un albero di vita a quelli che si appigliano ad essa; E beati coloro che la ritengono.
19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.	19 Il Signore ha fondata la terra con sapienza; Egli ha stabiliti i cieli con intendimento.
20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.	20 Per lo suo conoscimento gli abissi furono fessi, E l’aria stilla la rugiada
21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;	21 Figliuol mio, non dipartansi giammai queste cose dagli occhi tuoi; Guarda la ragione e l’avvedimento;
22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.	22 E quelle saranno vita all’anima tua, E grazia alla tua gola.
23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.	23 Allora camminerai sicuramente per la tua via, Ed il tuo piè non incapperà.
24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.	24 Quando tu giacerai, non avrai spavento; E quando tu ti riposerai, il tuo sonno sarà dolce.
25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,	25 Tu non temerai di subito spavento, Nè della ruina degli empi, quando ella avverrà.
26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.	26 Perciocchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, E guarderà il tuo piè, che non sia preso
27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.	27 Non negare il bene a quelli a cui è dovuto, Quando è in tuo potere di farlo.
28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.	28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: Va’, e torna, E domani te lo darò, se tu l’hai appo te.
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.	29 Non macchinare alcun male contro al tuo prossimo Che abita in sicurtà teco.
30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.	30 Non litigar con alcuno senza cagione, S’egli non ti ha fatto alcun torto.
31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;	31 Non portare invidia all’uomo violento, E non eleggere alcuna delle sue vie.
32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.	32 Perciocchè l’uomo perverso è cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma egli comunica il suo consiglio con gli uomini diritti.
33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.	33 La maledizione del Signore è nella casa dell’empio; Ma egli benedirà la stanza de’ giusti.
34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.	34 Se egli schernisce gli schernitori, Dà altresì grazia agli umili.
35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.	35 I savi possederanno la gloria; Ma gli stolti se ne portano ignominia
